First, if anybody should be demanding a UN Security council meeting it's Israel. This was an act of war across an internationally recognized border in every sense of the word. Second, this proportionality thing is surreal. But lets go with it for the sake of argument. Israel is outnumbered by the Arab League countries by at least a 100 to one in population, maybe more. Israel has lost ten soldiers in the last couple of weeks. By my estimate a proportional response should entail killing a 1000 Arabs, shouldn't it? If anything the Israeli response has been extremely weak.

Lebanon has accepted jihadists' into the government rather then deal with the criminal groups. I think Israel should use this to clean house if Lebanon will not do it themselves.

lebanon is a sovereign country that is willingly or unwillingly allowing hizbollah to fire ketushas from its territory, into israel. if they don't want to take the consequences of their actions...ie the idf hitting back, they should stop the hizbollah from firing at us and give us our soliders back. then i am sure we will be happy to have a ceasefire.

Sorry Noah, but restraint on Israel's part for the last 6 years with respect to its northern border has not yielded any positive results. Israel, or any nation state, cannot be expected to defer to those that are permitted to freely act against it from within a state's borders. someone must be held accountable. It is clear that the Lebanese regime has little interest in controlling hezbolla, and if they refuse, it is Israel's right to take action. Punishing Lebanon as a whole is regrettable, but not punishing them for their inaction is inexcusable. The escalation here belongs to Hezbolla. This is the same old arab story day in and day out. Start a war, cry when you get beat. Its absurd, and without precedent in the history of conflict. I feel bad for ordinary Lebanese. I think they should hold their government responsible and charge them criminally for negligence.
