4. Growing calls in Lebanon to disarm Hizbullah
I read some Lebanese readers posting on the talkback board kind of pleading not to be dragged into a war with Israel, may be they will go to the streets of Beirut to ask their government to join Israel in disarming the terrorists?
|
|
5. Peaceful northern front
This is good news for israel and the region if it comes true.
|
|
6. The Best Possible Outcome
Could this possibly augur a good outcome? The Lebanese people disgusted with Hizbollah, controlling their own territory and disarming the militias? Israel could then reconcile with the Lebanese, and have peace on the northern frontier? Secular, cosmopolitan Lebanon has always seemed like a more obvious peace partner for Israel than either Jordan or Egypt. There may be light at the end of this tunnel yet, but it's up to the people of Lebanon. The lady or the tiger. They should choose wisely.

9. Nasrallah must be assasinated to humiliate Hizbullah
That more than anything will show Hizbullah have lost the battle which is imperative to avert another Hizbullah attack. The Muslims cannot stand loss of face and will scream revenge but do nothing. This will be far better than bombing Lebanon

11. Saudi Gov. against Hizbullah
S. Arabia is the leader among the Arab nations, and it condemned Hizbullah in harsh tones, while also criticizing Lebanon, in an official statement to the SPA (Saudi Press agency):
A quote:
"On the same basis, the kingdom stood firmly with the resistance in lebanon until israeli occupation of lebanon ended.
Viewing with deep concern the bloody, painful events currently taking place in palestine and lebanon, the kingdom would like to clearly announce that a difference should be drawn between legitimate resistance and rash adventures carried out by elements inside the state and those behind them without consultation with the legitimate authority in their state and without consultation or coordination with arab countries, thus creating a gravely dangerous situation exposing all arab countries and its achievements to destruction with those countries having no say.
The kingdom views that it is time that these elements alone bear the full responsibility of these irresponsible acts and should alone shoulder the burden of ending the crisis they have created.

12. Is Lebanon a sovereign state?
If it is, then it is responsible for acts of war launched from its territory against Israel. Either it allows acts of war, or it prevents them.
If it does not prevent such acts of war, then it is either complicit in them, or it refuses to be a sovereign state, or both.
In either case, Israel has a perfectly valid right to defend its people against acts of war launched from Lebanon.

On second thoughts, maybe it would be better to castrate the idiot. I say this would be about the best way to whittle his ego down to size.
This would go a very long way toward removing one obstacle to peace in the region.

You are so right! The Lebanese should have learned the hard way by now that they must protect their country from the propaganda and ideologies that tore up their lives for decades.
Beirut, this lovely city, the Paris of the Middle East, has suffered so much.
Lebanon and Israel have really no quarrel with each other, and they could be great neighbors.
How has Lebanon trusted the thugs of Syria and Iran, and now it is paying the price and has been paying it for decades! It is a tragedy, but there is hope.
Israel will not let this opportunity pass to get rid of Hizbullah, thus benefit both itself and Lebanon.

19. Emulating Al Qaeda
There is really an axis of evil intent,
including Syria, Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic JIhad, the PFLP, the DFLP, the Revolutionary Guards, the insurgents in Iraq and the military wing of Fatah (Abbas). Their intentions have been obvious for years, an Islamic Republic from the Med. to Jordan, and perhaps beyond. But, groups like Hezbollah, by themselves, can bleed Israel, yet not destroy it (their ultimate goal). True, Syria and Iran are far more dangerous, but they too can be overwhelmed presently by Israel's ultimate power.Hezbollah has those rockets...and they are lethal, but crude. They are NOT smart bombs. If we notice, Israel is pin-pointing it's attacks very accurately..I ask, what it unleashed it's real power? It hasn't, for ex. the Jerichos and Popeye Missiles. What is Hezbollah, a nuisance..but w/o Syria and Iran, it is really just that, a pain in the butt, but little more. This attack by Hez...was a mistake..caus it revealed their power...which is limited. A big mistake.

21. The Lebanese government told the UN today...
...that it refuses to put its army in South Lebanon, in contrast to the UN resolution that said that Israel pulled out of Lebanon completely and required Lebanon to take martial responsibility over the border with Israel.
So, it's still a lot of talk, and likely will remain so. The best thing the UN can do is to say to Lebanon "call us back after you've put your army in Lebanon and disarmed Hizbollah". Otherwise, it's better to allow Israel to finish the job that they started.
The UN can't expect more concessions from Israel if it doesn't enforce the quid pro quo of land for peace. And by the way, for those who'll point to Resolution 242, don't obfuscate the fact that that resolution does not mention a "Palestine", that it does not require a complete pull out from the Green Line, and that it is a document that is binding on both sides to be non-belligerant, not just Israel. Arabs cannot say that 242 only puts obligations on Israel.

22. OF COURSE!!!!!
If Lebanese people don't want war, they have to defeat those BACKWARDS ones who want it!
Normal and healthy people want Peace, not this insane muslim mentality of constant provocation and unrest!

29. israel finally changes the equation in Lebanon
It took a long time but Israel has finally acted with determination to end the Iran and syrian led hezbollah threat against them.
Only one problem
Much of Hezbollah has flead into Syria to fight another day.
You shouls not warn the enemy and give him tiem to escape .This is the stupidity of the leftist who show more mercy to the enemy than to their fellow Jews.
The Arabs are shocked that Israel is actually fighting and not so restrained and timid.
I have to commend the IDF for having a plan and striking with proportinate force as this is the only way to awaken the Islamofascists that it is time to prepare their graves or fo like Nasrallah and hide under his wife's burqua .
