1. Make the point clear
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (07.14.06)
Israel needs to design a battle flag especially for its war against Hizbullah. I suggest the icon of a coiled rattlesnake and a slogan borrowed from U.S. history: "Don't tread on me." This would be graphic enough for them to understand.
2. Suggestion
J K ,   NYC, USA   (07.14.06)
How about the Israeli Flag with a big hand sticking out the middle finger (at Hezbollah) superimposed over it transparently?
3. Irans plan
Lemar ,   UK   (07.14.06)
Iran wants Hizbullah to continue sending rockets on Israel knowing that Israel will respond and destroy Lebanons infrastructure. Iran hopes that fundementalists will then take over Lebanon making all the north Muslim countries extreme as Syria will be a pushover for them once Lebanon falls. Israel beware, kill Hizbullah but dont destroy Lebanon
4. All the Ducks in a row
HowardUK ,   London UK   (07.14.06)
Olmert is proving to be the right man in the right job at the right time. What could Kofi do except 'Kof and splutter' when he heard Olmert's reply? The proxy of the proxy of Iranwill fall, followed by the proxy and then its just Iran with its back to the wall. This is like a stack of cards. All gonna come tumbling down. Howard
5. Remember UN Lies before
Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (07.14.06)
Entire amazing Lies and story right here Har Dov Kidnapping - United Nations and Israel http://judaism.about.com/library/1_terrorism/bl_hardov_un.htm The same Roed-Larsen , who will be send AGAIN by Kofi: who lied again, this time about Jenin..2002 The same Larsen: PM Ariel Sharon stated that he instructed his office not to have any contact with Larsen. Sharon is also considering declaring Larsen a persona non grata. Attorney-General Elyakim Rubinstein said he read the transcripts of Larsen's statements and found them to be "lies" and "baseless." Industry and Trade Minister Dalia Itzik said that Larsen disqualified himself by his one-sided comments and that his words were "not worthy of an objective diplomat." Larsen had violated his UN references, which call upon their diplomats to act in an objective manner ............... Read More: http://www.jafi.org.il/education/hasbara/headlines/nb7.html
6. Hezbollah Will Never ,Never Disarm
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.14.06)
Is P.M. Olmert serious ? He actually believes Islamists whose only reason for living is to kill Jews and wipe out Israel will disarm ? Is Olmert trying to give them another chance to regroup and come after Israel again ? The leftist mindset is truly a mad and sick one. A Lebenese resident of Beiruit crys out at his blog about Israel attacking the Airport there ; """"There was absolutely no reason to do this."""" My response to his blog ; There are many reasons to do this One main reason,Hezbollah is finished . TAKE RESPONSIBILITY your protest and tears are too late and now you pay a costly price. You careless Lebenese assumed Israel would be docile and timid and respond in limited fashion to your Hezbollah attacks forever. You gambled wrong and you pay the price. Are they passing around candy in beiruit today ?????? The cost will grow immensely because Hezbollah will be pulled out by it's roots from the soil of Lebanon. You should have removed this virulent strain from your midst long ago .Now Lebanon justly suffers.
7. # 3 makes a point but
(07.14.06)
the only way to do that is to kill many "innocent" people in the Hizzballah cities and towns.
8. Reason they pass out candy...
Leo ,   USA   (07.14.06)
is because they know that everytime they mess with isreal they won't have food for weeks to come... These people are like pitbulls (a type of fighting dog). these dogs are known for being extremely aggressive and extremely stupid. you can beat them up a hundred times and they still come back for more. Being abused is what being a muslim is all about. Without being a victim, you're just not being a muslim....
9. #3 Smart Plan...But
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (07.14.06)
Thats a good point, and a good plan, from Irans point of view, but eliminating lebanons infrastructure and limiting there capabilities will help Israel, assuming they are going to attack Syria or Iran next, that will be a harder war to win, and the last thing they want is a pestering lebanon attacking them at that time. Or the palestinians. Kinda like getting all the little stuff out of the way so it don't bite you in the behind later, while your occupied with bigger matters, cause even a small wound can fester. I see this as a good smart plan on the Israeli behalf, also gets Israeili citizens accustomed to the rocket attacks and bombings, at a larger scale, before a larger battle ensues. I just hope Israel follows through and cleans house over there, those countries are a threat to the civilised world and my support goes beyond 100% in favour of Israel, to finish them off once and for all, and eliminate the extremist Islamic threat, it's the only way that they can ensure there peace and survival of there citizens, peace obviously won't float with the Islamics, cause they view Israel as an occupier, and blame Israel instead of the UN who gave them there soveignty. Canada and the US are behind Israel, France can go F&#K Off, or do they forget there colonial past and harsh immigration laws. The EU is a bunch of whiners and tree huggers, who won't acknowledge a world threat until they are on the brink of extinction, I feel sorry for my British relatives. But britain does act independently of the EU. The best defense is a strong offense. Cheers to Isreal, no quarter, don't relent, stay devoted. Cleanse the world of this spreading Islamic poison, it's worldwide and needs to be dealt with.
10. Hezbola will never disarm...

13. lebanon does not equal hizbollah
lk ,   nj usa   (07.14.06)
How could Lebanon "have removed this virulent strain from [its] midst long ago"?! They've been under Syria's thumb until just last year -- you know, Syria, that place that openly and fully supports Hizbollah. Lebanon has no strength and no influence because Hizbollah is NOT pro-Lebanon; they could care less that the regular, moderate Lebanese -- the majority, who thought they might be getting their country adn their equilibrium back after 25 years of civil war and occupation -- are suffering.
14. Response NOT extreme
KRL ,   Houston, TX USA   (07.14.06)
This response is appropriate for an aggression such as this. HEZBOLLAH HAS OPENLY DECLARED WAR ON ISRAEL, and as long as Lebanon allows them to stage from their country "Acts of War" such as this should be met with an overwhelming response until the war is won. Any other country under circumstance such as this would and should respond in kind until scourges such as Hamas and Hezbollah lay down their arms and conduct themselves as world citizens not terrorists.
15. appropriate response - finally
Robert ,   Tampa, USA   (07.14.06)
For the past decade, Hizbollah and Hamas have been encroaching, and Israel has been spanking their little butts and sending them home... until now they believe they can encroach with impunity. It's long past the time Israel must flex their muscles and show a little bit of what they're really capable of - not just a butt spanking, but utter destruction. If - and only if - those intent on destroying Israel get the message and decide to co-exist in peace, that destruction will not be necessary. One thing that is clear is that Israel has been showing admirable restraint, with little result. Perhaps a stronger response will gain more respect. Remember, Egypt was Israel's sworn enemy until Israel captured the entire Egyptian 3rd Army, and then let them go with a promise to behave.
16. Why Figure Out Iran's Motives?
Dave Levi ,   Burbank.USA   (07.14.06)
I ask, why bother analyzing Iran's involvement? They made it possible for all this to occur? Iran is now facing heat from the Big 8's ultimatum. This changes the focus for while. Iran has nothing to lose if the fighting gets worse, or it stops. Either way, Israel hurts. Hezbollah is a small force with lots of rockets that can be re-supplied at will, no matter the damage to the airport. Lebanon cannot force Hezbollah out, the Muslim community is too strong..and why bother? Nothing will change at all in the M.E. Iran will get atomic bombs, Israel will bleed from time to time...Arabs will die, some civilian and some gunmen. it's all about oil, power, revenge, retaliation, religious and ethnic hatreds. The latest flare-up is part of the 100yr old conflict to rid the M.E. of Jews...we are simply not wanted. In Russia they say, "Go to Palestine". In Palestine they say, "Go back to Russia". Cannot win to lose.

20. Olmert: Operation will stop
s.d.c. ,   Dayton Ohio USA   (07.14.06)
The West must find the courage to call this dispute what it is, a millenium old religioius dispute about birthright that is being wrapped in political and bureacratic words to make it nice. The prophet Mohammed wanted a peaceful world, but a world that would be at peace when all of the world was submitted to the Will of Allah. That peace could be achieved by conversion ,or death,if one chose not to submit. The Islamists do not want to become part of a national culture, they want to be the culture. As long as the West continues to allow Islamic voices to define the struggle otherwise and to paint the illusion that Islam is a religion of peace, we will never gain the upper hand in the propoganda war. Islam is a religioin of peace only among those people who within it are submitted to the will of Allah. To those in all the other areas of the world who claim some other religious identity, they are called in the Koran, Infidels, who are worhty of death. Israel is demonstrating a courage divinely appointed in the face of a ruthless enemy who will not stop until Israel and the West either no longer exist, or the citizens thereof have converted to Islam. It's long past time to tell the truth.
21. Who do you think you are kidding?
Baruch Levy ,   Israel   (07.14.06)
You want to a have a laugh?, then remember the story about the barman? You know, the barman who when the Irishman, Englishman & Scotsman walked into the saloon together & asked if this a joke? Well this week the Hamasnik, Hisbollnik & Israeli just walked into the same saloon only this time the barman knew this is no joke & took a dive under the nearest table to take cover. We all thought that oneday we could all be happy drinking partners, just some of us thought the Israeli would always be picking up the tab. Now my friends I am pleased to announce that the cavalry are just around the corner!. (If you want to gauge the length of this blog then you will be pleased to know I am in my garden writing on my battery operated laptop. In other words this "letter from Israel" will take me less than 2 hours to compose after which time windows shuts down. In fact this war will also shut down as soon as the batteries run low) As I write I hear warplanes flying above & hear on the news that the citizens of the north are told to go back into their shelters. The north & south is under fire, our soldiers are held hostage, our dead are being buried, our home front is our frontline! Katyusha rockets are aflight! Quassam missiles are airborne! But we are still here! We have amazing people living in Israel, we are a multi-ethnic community, we have all sorts here, all colours, all languages, many religions, all flavours of the political milkshake. We have an Army, Navy & Airforce made up from this melting pot. They are an essential fighting force & they have honed their craft better then you & I could ever imagine. They are our cavalry & they are our lifeline, they are our sons & daughters, they are our pride, they are our "precious". All our citizens have one thing in common.. We all want to live here & we all want to live in here in peace. Not much to ask is it? Well some of our friends next door have other plans. Most of the Arab states around here are happy to leave us alone & let the drinking party go on till the last customer leaves. But some of our Arab neighbours want to introduce prohibition. Maybe they are jealous or maybe they want to bulldoze the bar & build a barricade instead. The good news is that our amazing nation have come together under one Prime Minister & one Defence Minister & have put our differences aside. Today we are united whilst our soldiers do the stuff they are best at. We have a US President who is standing by us & we are prepared to go the extra mile. We in Israel have taken enough abuse over the past few years & have suffered suicide bombings, missile attacks & censure from the around the world. We are latecomers in the media publicity battle, its obvious the Arab world have a great PR campaign going. We Israeli's are brilliant at shooting ourselves in the feet when it comes to our image. Today the world has woken up to a new reality that terrorists only understand one voice..and its not the voice of peace. Let us referee the middle east, lets not wait for a penalty kickout. Our image is a good one but tinted by a biased PR campaign. Now if you haven't already heard we are here to stay!! Now Mr Nasrallah & Mr Meshal listen carefully .. "Who do you think you are kidding Mr N & Mr M... If you think we're on the run. We are the boys who will stop your little game. We are the boys who will make you think again. If you think you can crush us We're afraid you've missed the bus. Cause who do you think you are kidding Messrs Meshal & Nasrallah if you think old Israel's done" We are going to hang you & your washing on the Siegfried line...cause the washing day is here." So let the anti Israel press put this is their nargila's & smoke it.. Baruch Levy. The writer expat Brit lives in southern Israel & has two sons in the army. some lyrics plagiarized from Jimmy Perry & Derek Taverner, Dad's Army
22. #7 talking about #3
joe ,   jackson, MS   (07.14.06)
Look #7 innocent Jews have been dying in Israel every day by the hands of these terrorist. Those people should not have let that terrorist set up in thier cities.
23. Time to stand
Brian ,   Detroit, MI USA   (07.14.06)
It seems to me that this would be the time for President Bush to let the muslim world know that while we are allies of Isreal, we are not their keepers or handelers. Eventually, this would work in our favor. Either Lebanon will take control of the southern part of their country, or completly isolate hezbolla to that region and let the chips fall where they may for the terrorists, or the situation will get worse and involve Syria and Iran. And don't think for a minute that Bush is not on the phone with the PM, telling him exactly where to throw the bombs when that time comes.

Iran wants Hebollah to continue? no kidding ... ! Iran rules :-)
27. Finish what you start
Zach ,   Austin, TX   (07.14.06)
I hope Israel can get this job done before foreign political pressure (U.S. & Europe) makes them stop. This crisis has been looming for several years now and it was just a matter of time before something happened to force Israel to respond like this. Take out Hezbollah, bomb Syria if need be, make Lebanon pay a price for allowing these cancerous fanatics to operate within Lebanon. I feel for the civilians over there, but it is time to clean house and if they can't or won't do it themselves, then Israel has to.
28. BRAVO!

30. U.N. needs to act on its resolutions
Sonja ,   USA   (07.14.06)
U.N. now needs to get their lazy selves over to Lebanon and do exactly what it is REQUIRED to do. Just as Olmert has told them is TRUE. Is the U.N. just the mouth piece of fanatical terrorists and their supporters or are they actually the mouth piece of the world? Today we shall see... all things hidden shall be revealed and today its U.N.'s day
