France,Germany,Russia, Greece and China all agree this action taken by the Isrealis is the wrong thing to do. The real reason behind the US invasion of Iraq, is strategic positioning. Today, we do not have a logistics problem deploying 100,000 troops with the most advanced arms in the world directly to the Iranian border; we are ALREADY there. It is amazing the media reports every civilian killed by Israel. They fail to mention that terrorists within ten feet of the civilians who were also killed. I am not an Israeli or a Jew, but I respect the battle that they fight daily. The mainstream media does not have everyone best interests at heart, only furthering their advertising and appealing to the masses, mostly influenced by far left actvists within the major news media organizations. Let the Jewish people defend themselves usinf any means necessary, and support their initiative to rid their land of muslim extremists who do not value human life as we do in the west. We are better off if this escalates now for future peace.

Israel has a right to protect itself from its hostile neighbors and it has every right in the world to end it because of how these recent events started. Hamas and Hezbollah both started these recent fights and ended the unsteady peace that was in the region. This pattern has been going on for decades and history has shown that mere talking will never fix this problem. Everyone has the right to fight for their own protection and peace, and I think Israel should be left alone to do what it needs to do. They are only answering the challege that Hamas and Hezbollah gave them.

The UN can not be trusted. Israel should destroy Hezbollah and Hamas (and neutralize Iran and Syria in the process).

...how about developing a real economy and setting out to actually accomplish something for this world. While some countries are exploring deep space, all you seem to be able to do is blow yourselves up. Get a life!!!

I am shamed by the west's public reaction to Israel's actions - I can only hope the "back channel" is making it clear that the IDF needs to be allowed to do whatever is necessary to rid the cancer from their midst. The only way to control these primitive beasts is total annihalation - and like with chemo therapy - some of the "body" is going to suffer. Guess what? In war - innocents are killed - that is the nature of war - remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki? The firestorms of Dresden and Tokyo? That is how wars end and the peace is won - there must be a victor and I have little doubt that Israel will be a benevolent victor - like the US was in WW2 - but they must be allowed to gain that total victory.

Unfortunately, I'm referring to "THE" Solution. The difference between modern countries, especially modern nuclear powers, is that some (all but one) can practice restraint and some (one) may not be able to. Those of us (USA) who can practice restraint, do so with policies, diplomacy, economic sanctions, threats and finally conventional warfare that still leads the world with its technology. However, the US does not suffer suicide bombers, missle strikes, etc. on a regular, if not daily basis. Israel, on the other hand, is a but a small oasis of humanity in a large desert of evil, irrationality, ignorance (72 virgins??) and hatred. Scorpions -- the lot of them. Therefore, unfortunately for mankind, but fortunately for Israel, a nuclear solution maybe the ONLY solution. If it appears that the entire fundamentalist (extremist) Muslim world disregards the true lessons of the Qu'uran of humility, non-violence and service to God, and embarks on this dangerous (suicidal) plan of attacking Israel from all sides, then the it is fair to assume that Israel, to survive, will even the score the only way it can be evened because diplomacy, sanctions, threats etc are not available options. Conventional warfare is only optional until the wolves get too close, or unless Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, etc. decide that the fate of the entire Mulsim world will not be dictated by Lebanese and Syrian (and Iranian) extremists. I hate to say it but it appears that the extremists, always underestimating Israel and the length it, and its allies, will go to protect this Oasis in the Middle East, have somehow determined among their narrow minds, that "Now is the time...." and will press forward until the ONLY Solution is nuclear. They may get their wish, but know this....There are only so many virgins and nuclear martyrs will create a backlog of a thousand years and a radioactive wasteland of half that. (Besides, they are only martyrs if there is someone left to recognize them as such and worship them.) This is just my opinion, but, cooler heads need to reign in these extremists or they will reap what they are sowing....horrible horrible deaths in hugely disproportionate numbers, something on the order of a quarter million for every Israeli death.

I've seen commentators say that the Israeli government is a bunch of amateurs. Is Olmert an amateur or is he playing a game? WHO is going to disarm Hezbollah? The Lebanese army has no incentive to start a civil war and it couldn't win a guerrilla war against Hezbollah, which is too big. The only power in the region that could disarm Hezbollah would be either Israel or Syria. WHICH ONE DOES ISRAEL WANT IN LEBANON?

Who indeed cries for Israel? Trapped in a country the size of New Jersey and surrounded by those whose only wish is to see every Jew dead, who will step forward for Israel? I don't know of any definition of "defending" that includes crossing over into another country, unprovoked, to kidnap soldiers. I don't know of any definition of "defending" that includes lobbing missles (unprovoked) into a neighboring country. And only the biggest kind of fool would even suggest that "Israeli cowards" are intentionally attacking civilians. Israel has had to indure an ongoing rectal exam by the world for the past 60 years, fending off the most virulent, hateful rhetoric by one short-sighted world leader after another, as they attempt to create a peaceful place to live for themselves. How can you say civilians are innocent when they support the terroists that live amongst them? If you harbor terroists, are you an innocent bystander? When you raise your children to hate and encourage them to fight their "perceived" enemies, how are you innocent?
