31. Peace and war
paul malykont ,   los osos, usa   (07.14.06)
Hit hard and keep hotting hard. The road to peace is through enforcing responsibility. The bnakruptcy of Hamas/Hizbollah violence must be demonstrated but be prepared to continue withdrawal. Do what Arafat said but never did - an olive branch in one hand and a gun in the other and make sure Syria feels it as well. Peace for Israel and a state for the Palestinians flow from Israeli strength and determination.
32. What have you been smoking post 3
Floyd   (07.15.06)
"Soon Israel will hear the roar of waking Hizbollah tiger!" Israel has shown great restraint so far...Hizbollah will wet its pants once Israel lets loose.
33. Israel is so weaaaaaak.
(07.14.06)
Israel is weaker than taking Hizbollah on. Israel thought it is factually stronger, but they did not dare to send a soldier in Lebanon. I believe, and wish, Israel's thugry will learn a lesson now! Israel is only good at attacking Women, Children, Civilians from tanks, ships, and war planes. Cowards!
34. Pride , Palestine, Lebanon
(07.14.06)
wrong
35. Israel has the technology and the money to win this wat
Chris ,   Mass US   (07.15.06)
I almost feel bad for the Islamists. They bask in poverty and their military might does not even compare to Israel. Does anyone recall the Israel War of 1948 when they were able to defend and gain territory from a 3 pronged attacked? Now imagine that the Jews have modern weapony to back it up this time...
36. Palestinian Putz from Lebanon
Osama ,   Londonistan   (07.15.06)
Wait until they hit some Palis like yourself by "accident". Oh yes, you'll go screw 72 hapless virgins for that too... How patheticly primitive.
37. Idiotic Israel
Cody ,   Indiana, U.S.   (07.15.06)
Israel are the real cowards because they are the ones who fight behind the shield of U.S. supplied F-16's and tanks. Hizbollah and the palestinians are much braver than the Israelis. May god be with the innocent people in Lebanon and Gaza.
38. minority american
Cody ,   Indiana U.S.   (07.15.06)
I just want the people of lebanon and gaza to know that there are some of us "enlightened" americans who think Bush and his support for the Israeli massacre is wrong. Any time civilians are killed it is wrong no matter if it is at the hands of an Israeli F-16 or a palestinian suicide bomber or a Hezbollah rocket. I feel sorry for all of the innocents in battle.
39. Kick ass Israel!
Floyd   (07.15.06)
Time to show give these third world savages what they've always wanted...a one way ticket to hell where they can get there 72 ugly ass virgins.
40. Amature Hour
Rick S. ,   L.A.   (07.15.06)
This war is is run by amatures in Jerusalem. Israel needs real military leaders who will stop the Katyushas & Qassams at the sources. How can the Israeli warship be hit by Hezbollah? This is a disgrace. Stop dropping warning leaflets and start dropping bombs without warning. Hezbollah does not make announcements. They just fire their missiles at civilian areas and even managed to hit a ship. What is going on?
41. ynet
Vorax   (07.15.06)
.. it becomes more and more unpleasant to navigate through the hostile talkbacks from whoever they are enemy sympathizers, openly celebrating Israeli losses. That doesn't add any "objectivity", just brings nasty noise. You can invite even more of these illiterate hateful poopers, there are herds of them in Falestine, Pakistane, Londonistane, etc., but what is the point of their presence here and now? In uneasy times, clarity of style helps. Keep your site clean.
42. Are some of you for real?
Tazmanian Devil ,   Moscow, Russia   (07.15.06)
What moronic comments some of you post. It doesn’t matter who you are fighting and how well you are prepared fighting on THEIR ground gives the home team a distinct advantage. It is VERY hard to overcome. Go spend some time in a combat unit you cowards and then let’s talk. You could take the entire Hezbollah army and they couldn’t take a single US state just going against the national guard here if they were fighting on US land. Israel is showing great restraint in not just leveling the entire country of Lebanon or even the Gaza strip. They are making tactical strikes and trying to limit civilian casualties something Hezbollah, Iran and Hamas rarely try to do. It is like trying to fight with your hand tied behind you back. Israel easily has the weapons to level Lebanon, Syria and Iran if they fought an all out war. Some of you folks that are from that area need to stop smoking the stuff they grow in Afghanistan and wake up.
43. Hit them hard
Al ,   Beirut   (07.15.06)
Thank you Israel. You are doing all the non shiite Lebanese a favor by downsizing this terrorist network (Hizballah).
44. WWII
Big Popp ,   california usa   (07.15.06)
The failed political aftermath of WWII continues to rear it's ugly head. By forcing the palestinians from their lands to compensate the jews over the slaughter of the holocaust it was a given that region would never have peace. With each group claiming this land as their land for whatever religious reason ( and this truly is about religion) the cycle of violence will never end. Your, israeli, insistence on trying to bomb and assasinate individuals in the name of your right to exist will only continue to enflame the regions despising of you and your existence. The other parties that are concerned with your destruction will never achieve it, if only because the west will come to your aid, aided by the guilt of WWII and the powerful jewish lobby in my country. All this leads me to believe that the one God who created all is laughing, laughing at the fact that the birthplace of the worlds major religions began in the same place, and instead of coming together and learning from each others differences you kill each other over those same differences. God have mercy on all your souls in the middle east, because of your region we will all be meeting our maker soon.
45. #33 IDF comandos vs Hezballah
Daniel ,   Israel   (07.15.06)
The Hezballah terrorists are together with Hamas the coward experts in attacking women and children. The more harm Hezballah inflicts on Israel the closer it will leave the earthly world. The coward Hezballah fighters can only hit from the back. Eye to eye with Israeli Commando Special forces they should start producing body bags en masse for the Hezballah terrorists. The Israeli naval commandos are not known for their willingness to take any prisoners since they prefer to kill all enemies so watch out Hezballah-losers.
46. Dumb Talkbackers miss the key thing here.
sk ,   USA   (07.15.06)
I quote the black-turbaned wonder: "Soon you will find how stupid your new government is and how it is incapable of reading the situation. It has no experience. You said in your opinion polls that you believe me more than anyone else. Believe me now – you attacked every house in Lebanon and you will pay for that." In other words, Nasrallah has just confirmed what the Israeli Right has said all along: (1) ilmert & parrots have no experience (actually, they have neither military knowledge nor experience), (2) Hizbullah pays attention to Israeli poll data and acts accordingly, (3) in voting as they did, the Israeli public actually increased the odds of this confrontation happening. Of course, ilmert counterattacked only because he knew that if he didn't, his government would fall. If he is ineffective in this war (too bad Yalon was fired, eh Ehud?), his goverment will fall, as slow-witted Israelis figure out that they are not "tired of winning" after all. To you A-ribs: do not rejoice too much. It is true that ilmert and parrots are complete idiots, but it is not true that they are the only possible options for PM and DM. And, waiting in the wings is Moshe Feiglin, and he would wage this war based on Jewish principles, and you would not like that.
47. you guys just dont get it
(07.15.06)
if israel is attacked harder, like 20 dead or 30 dead, beirut falls to the ground with a 200 to 300 death toll. you can not attack israel without having 100 times bigger casualties. try israels strenth and kiss your death.
48. Casualties...of course there will be...
Parkek ,   Hong Kong   (07.15.06)
What counts is that you inflict much greater pain on the enemy than they do on you. Not very complicated. Capitulation is mandatory! Israel will undoubtably takes many casualties, both civillian and military. To think otherwise is delusional, but in the end, Israel will be on top and that is what counts - the only thing! Bear in mind that the Arab/Muslim mentality is that "Western" liberal democracies are soft and they simply aren't willing to tough it out. They know that "Westerners" value life very very much, as opposed to Islamofascists. This softness is what spurs them on. As they say, they desire death (martyrdom) more than we desire life. I don't mean to be so cavalier about other's lives, but it is important for Israelis and their supporters to realize this, and not be discourged. I can fully understand how one can be emotional, but in order for final victory to occur, one must think strategically and rationally. Israel is, and has always been, in a fight for her very existence...literally! Lastly, I hope that there will be minimal casualties on both sides (Hizbollah excepted) and that the good Lebanese people (non-terror suppporters) will be truly free. I apologize in advance if I've offended anyone, it was not my intent.
49. Reality Check
aaron ,   l.a. U.S.A.   (07.15.06)
The IDF is all talk, it's great at being wardens for a few million palestinians, but as history has shown, when it's faced with a determined resistance army, it just doesn't have what it needs to succeed. The iranians have shown once again that they know how to play israel's leadership like a violin. The more the idf attacks leb. the greater the increase in calls for the dissolution of the pro-u.s. leb. gov't in favour of something more aligned with iran. Hizballah may just be the next dominant player in Beirut after the smoke clears.
50. #37
Greg ,   Los Angeles, USA   (07.15.06)
Are you the American Taliban? Get the hell out of the USA you Taliban sympathizer.
51. Nasrallah a very strategic leader
Hanzal ,   Jerusalem-Palestine   (07.15.06)
The Israeli know very well and have already experience with Nasrallah that he is very hard/smart/clever leader. He is not like Mubarak or king Abdullah, he knows exactly what he want. Believe me Israel will lose this war, the power is not not everything, best sample is the US shit in Irak. The Amis would pull out from Irak asap but they can't. This issue ist the best lesson for you all all people who think, that you can win this mini war using your F16/Apache etc.. . The reaction of Hizbouallah was not excected to anybody in IL/USA. Finally you will talk indirect to Hizbullah and you release Leban./Palestin./Arab prisoners from the IL jails. We can wait, bet and count on the future. Regards, J.
52. Worried
Mikulas ,   Bratislava, Slovakia   (07.15.06)
With the USA army already beaten badly by a small bunch of terrorists armed with a few slingshots, I wonder if Israel will not be completely alone in a war with Syria and Iran. America would only be a dead weight in a coming war. I am trying to look behind me to see where we went wong....Unfortunately Rabin was killed by one of his own. he had achieved peace...We need him so much today...
53. only 2 soldiers captured ?
gene ,   curtis usa   (07.15.06)
if you think this is about 2 soldiers being captured then this would explain why you aussies had your freedom taken away!!!!!
54. Israel Rocks
jimmy ,   ohio   (07.15.06)
Israel you are doing what it takes keep up the good work at Gods speed!
55. Nasrallah thought it would go easier
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.15.06)
Israel beter take him out sooner than later. The fact that nasrallah is still around says that Olmert is too slow and politically incorrect in his approach. The cult of death assumed Israel restrained and limited would just do the minimum . After so many decades of Israel's restraint has only encouraged these barbarians from hell . it's refreashing to see Israel awaken from it's long stupor. I hope they don't go back to sleep anytime soon .They can't afford to be nice anymore. IT HASN'T WORKED, SO IT'S BACK TO RUTHLESS AND DEADLY . Only problem is Olmert may have to be replaced. He's too nice dropping leaflets and attacking mostly empty Hezbollah buildings . You should all be thankful that it is a weak Israeli P.M. who is in power. Under the arrogance of Islam ,Nasrallah mistakenly assumed his plan would work out a bit more smoothly. A serious miscaculation on his part. The man is now seen for the stupi fool he is ,before he is sent to hell. Last reports are that he is now anger at losing his favorite toaster and hjas declared all out war against Israel. The Arab people have forgotten their record of loss in 54' 67'73' and in 82' when U.S. pressure forced Israel to let the father of Islamic terrorism slither off to Tunisia from Beirut. You mistakenly rely on U.S pressure to work again as it has always worked in the past. I am confident that the Jews have learned that their failure to use deterrent force against Saddam and his 39 scuds on Israel in 1991 was a grave error and birthed the forgetful era of the Arab nations and their sound defeats prior to this. Their stupidity in allowing Arafat to leave Beirut in 1982 under US. pressure is hopefully a lesson learned. Once again ,they must be reminded that Israel is there to stay ,but Hezbollah will soon be history ,one way or another
56. Self-defeating rationale: The right to defend
scott ,   Portland OR, USA   (07.15.06)
My hope is for an end to hostilities. My conviction is that all sides have the right to defend their territorial integrity, their nation-states, and families. But what of their avowed interests? All seem devoted to escalation. A fool's gambit! Following Olmert's arrogant logic and overkill response to the kidnappings, Isreal should prepare for disproportionate retribution, too. My sense is that most Americans (whose opinions matter) are angry at Isreal's government for such folly. I'm outraged and deeply saddened. A reasonable de-escalation: exchange hostages and fall back! Sympathy and support for Isreal is being lost here in the states.
57. #50 response
Cody ,   Indiana U.S.   (07.15.06)
Actually I am an ex-marine and I have earned the right to speak my opinion. It is people like you (# 50) that make the U.S. a disgrace. Freedom of speech idiot. I do not have to agree with the Israeli massacre of civilians.
58. re: worried
abu wen ,   brooklyn ny   (07.15.06)
mikulas, dont you get it!! that's why were are in the situation that were in right now because of rabin!!
59. Appreciate the concern Mikulus...
AJ ,   Atlanta, GA   (07.15.06)
Appreciate the concern Mikulus, but don't listen to the mainstream press, US ain't even close to bein beaten as mainstream media would like you to beleive....US Military is stronger than ever and still whoopin butttt, and if Israel needs us, I am sure we'll be right there rollin heads right next to em....
60. #33 Israel Weaaaaaak?
Giavour ,   California USA   (07.15.06)
Ha! They've kicked the Arabs' butts how many times? And they're doing it again. Israel goes out of its way to make targeted strikes, while the terrorists hide among women and children, even dressing like them to get away, and then blame Israel for civilian deaths. A logical mind understands the utter fallacy of these tired arguments. God Bless His people Israel!
