On behalf of the State of Israel I ask you to stop your postings. It is one thing to say something stupid on one occasion, it is another thing when every single post you make over the past few months is stupid.

Of course Israel wants to avoid antagonizing Lebanon's non-Shiite groups (I don't know what you're reading to indicate otherwise ... see #3). Many of you are like amateur movie critics, and worse, ones who critique the last installment of a trilogy without observing the first two. Every time Israel "gives peace a chance", their enemies regroup with yet more potent weapons, breathing more delirious existential threats. For example, after Israel vacated the S. Lebanon buffer zone, Hezbullah fantasized a new grievance (Shebaa Farms) to justify more threats and aggression, and an outrageous offensive buildup funded by Israel's mortal enemies who have threatened to destroy Israel. All you "disproportionate" critics don't think how absurd that Hezbullah justifies 10,000 missiles on account of 35 sq km. If Israel just negotiates for the release of its soldiers, imagine the terror of the next attack. These people mean to destroy Israel, and kill as many Jews as possible along the way. Israel must incinerate the Black Hat's assets & make the Black Hats the newest member of the Osama Club: declare that from now till forever any meeting, news conferences or public appearance of a Black Hat is an appointment with a missile. And all you short-sighted chess players, instead raise your voices to work toward an international rebuilding effort in Lebanon--and a stronger international position on Lebanon, so Iran and Syria can *never again* use Lebanon as a terror proxy, left pathetically to bear the terrible costs of Israel's war for survival.

Hey doctor, if Israel plans to attack Syria, it could not permit an uncontrolled Lebanon between Israel and Syria. No matter what, Lebanon has to be controlled. I would guess that Hizbullah members are trying to get up north, and Israel is encircling them. The idea that this war is "merely" about two hostages (you don't bother about the murdered soldiers, or anyone else in Israel) is preposterous. Israel does not have the intelligence to locate these hostages because, duh, Israel withdrew from Lebanon. Finally, sorry, but it just not Israel's problem that Lebanese elites are unable to secure their sovereign territory. They care about other things, though, like tourism.

This pot has been boiling for many years, and now the time came where it boils over. Hizbullah and Hammas gave Israel THE perfect excuse and opportunity this time, and Israel is about to use it fully. The worst thing Israel can do is hold back now-they'll attack it like tigers attack a wounded gazelle. Why exactly they would want that? Don't they have much more important things to fight about, and some dangerous enemies to fight? It's very unfortunate, but if you were an Israeli general planning what to do, you would HAVE TO do the same thing. Anything less would prevent you from accomplishing your objective, i.e render Hezbullah powerless. There is just no other way. Hezbullah was a slowly developing danger to Lebanon, because Hezbullah had an agenda different than Lebanon. It was not addressed before, and they were allowed to mature and increase in power. Now they show their agenda, and Lebanon unfortunately pays the price. There is no way for Israel to hit Hezbullah effectively, without hitting Lebanon, and that is the reality.

Israel had no choice but retaliate against Hizballa. However, it has punished so many Lebanese that believe in coexisting peacefully with Israel. Most of these Lebanese had family members, soldiers that belonged to the South Lebanese Army that controlled South Lebanon; thus providing North Israel many a peaceful years. The SLA, under Antoine Lahoud, did every thing the IDF could not do efficiently and were abandoned by Israel without notice. To many of these SLA soldiers, it was a betrayal, a stab in the back. As a result, Hizballa moved in, took over the buffer zone and have been controling the South of Lebanon as an independent autonomous province. Hizballa's goal is to take over Lebanon eventually and it is up to Israel to stop them. By destroying the country's infrastructure, many innocent Lebanese will be effected and a renewal of a civil war will not solve the Israel/Hizballa conflict.
