Your artticulated arguments pretty much match the United Nations & European Union solution to world conflict. But let's start with a couple recent facts - for the last 40 years, there has been a genocide about every 5 years, and "neutral" efforts by the international community have failed to stop a single one of them. Even next to Europe in the Balkans - they "observed" the continuing slaughter for 10-years until the U.S. stopped it by bombing the Serbs and hauling Milosevic to court. 40% of the world's population lives in virtual slavery under tyrannical leaders. 60% of the world's population lives in Medieval conditions - there is no grand "understanding" of this misery, and "neutrality" is the only thing perpetuating this condition. What if the killer of your relative just wanted their wallet, and now they want yours? Your simple theoretical thoughts about these topics are a good start, but they have a long way to develop.

Quit picking on Canada. He's entitled to his opinion the same as you. See the same ol' crap all the time. Dehumanize a group of people, make a bunch of generalizations and think that you understand the problem. If you are reasonable at all you would realize that the Middle East has serious problems that threaten the rest of the world. The causes stretch back centuries and there's no easy solution. Radical followers of Islam have been able to incite a segment of the population. I for one wish the righteous would prevail and that those committing the atrocities are punished. It looks like it's going to be a hell of world the next few decades. I can remember back to when I was a child and thought about the terrible possibility of war with atomic (or worse) bombs. Then we went through a period of peace but all the time the Middle East has been a hot spot. I hope that the leaders of our countries are up to the task of resolving this. I pray that they are. Meanwhile I don't consider all of our opinions worth that much but I do know that Canada has on good point that humans should respond more intelligently than rats; that we should remain as reasoning individuals with morals. Let’s not slide into blindly supporting the destruction of another civilization/country/group of people without careful consideration. That's why I’m glad I live in a Democracy so that the people we elect can engage in reasoned discourse. So quit looking for a villain in Canada, he may be young or he may be old, he’s managed to keep high ideals you may say that they don’t stand up in the real world and some of you suggest he’ll have change of heart (if like you wished) a few missiles were fired into Canada. Well he’s part of the reasoned discourse to your quick call to arms. It’s interesting to read both (all) opinions no matter that they are so widely divergent because heaven help us if we only had one or the other. Remember the real solution to this problem is far beyond your, mine or anyone’s opinion. I’ll steal myself against anyone’s response to this by not reading anymore comments from this article; I’ve had enough opinions for a while :)

Can anyone imagine if the "democratic" state of Israel was located on Mexico's northern border? Go ahead, try to imagine this. Hot one, ain't it?
34. To Steve, post #28
Proud Yankee ,   US   (07.17.06)
You sound just like Hitler with all of your anti zionist hatred. And you are showing your ignorance with your hippocricy. Israel has shown considerable restraint over the years. Dispite their attempts at peace with the giving up of some of their land a few months ago and among other things they still get attacked by terrorists. These terrorists have openly called for the destruction of Israel and Israel has every right to defend themselves. I think you need to look at the hatred in your own heart before you accuse others of it.
35. Steve; The Arabs, like you, are the most hateful people.
Daisy ,   USA   (07.17.06)
You Arabs are filled with such hate and violence that now most of the world is waking up to the barbarity of the Arabs. Go to hell loser!

An observer ,   Canada   (07.17.06)
Lars, these are valid points that you brought up and I know that my thoughts are somewhat sound too idealistic that is not easy to be implemented in reality. But it should be! I am not pro-war and I think I never will be unless maybe I go insane. The only reason I came up with my post is that I see almost nothing but hatred from many of the respondents and there are too much of them. I don’t want to feel the same way as those from whom the essence of their responses in this forum is mostly warmongering and hatred. I don’t even want to be in their place because I don’t think I would feel good about myself waking up every morning and looking into the mirror by saying: “I did the best I could to make this World a better place.” I feel sorry for the participants of this war since in war there are no winners but only casualties both physically and mentally. You are right in many things that a huge part of the people of this World of ours is suffering unimaginably and by knowing that we suffer too that this society is not letting us to do more to ease these problems. But as you have said it well, pursuing forgiveness and understanding is a good way to start. Many of us think that there is Heaven and there is Hell beyond our life. Well I hope I don’t sound too pessimistic when I say we don’t have to go too far to find Heaven and Hell but mostly Hell we find here on Earth that we have created. However hope should never be lost and thank you for understanding my point! Wallaceswift, there is only one thing left for me to add to your comment: Very well said and I couldn’t have said it better myself. Thank you!
37. The Israelis Will Fight To The Last American!
Freaky Dick ,   Nashville, TN USA   (07.17.06)
I have to laugh when I see comments about Israel's "restraint." I'm sorry, but if you occupy another people's territory, you are a legitimate target. Since we in the west have been fucking with the Arabs for over a hundred years, we don't have much of a moral leg on which to stand. Unfortunately, too many of us watch television, which causes recto-cranial insertion syndrome.

Hitler invaded Poland, Austria, Hungary, etc. Why do you always jump to the Holocaust ?
39. reply to #37
Adam ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (08.09.06)
You are very ignorant. We do not occupy another people's territory. That land was never a 'Palestine' state andit has not been under recognized soverignty since the British and the Turks before them. The West Bank was illegally ruled by (Trans)Jordan before Israel took it in a defensive war. Bearing that in mind it is technically no man's land and comes legally under the definition of 'administered territory'.
