I am a tourist who is visiting Haifa, I've heard all the explotions around the area and the siren. I would like to thank all MDA workers and volunteers for the great work they are doing despite the situation, by risking their lives to save other people. It is very important to keep supporting MDA with ambulances and equipment because their job is amazing. they have been always when it has been necesary. In 1999, Palestinians from Jenin came to Jerusalem on a regular basis, and Israelis went shopping in Jenin. This proves that it is possible for both peoples to live together, at least temporarily. I have my doubts because of the Palestinian reaction to the disengagement as to whether the Palestinian people will ever truly accept peace, but after Israel has almost destroyed an Arab nation, it's basically a forgotten dream that one day Israelis and Palestinians will live together in peace, in two states, at least in our lifetime. I give my best wishes to the people of Israel and to the people of Lebanon to stay strong through this crisis.

You would not know from BBC reports that thousands of terrorist rockets had been fired from Lebanon deliberately targeting civilian communities and infrastructure and killing dozens of Israelis and wounding hundreds of others. Any reference to these terrorist atrocities comes only in passing and the whole emphasis is on what is happening in Lebanon. The BBC has failed to mention that Israel is doing its best to avoid civilian casualties and that all hits on infrastructure in Lebanon are designed only to hinder Hizbullah. The BBC has run lots of features about "British citizens" (usually people of Lebanese origin and/or Hizbullah sympathisers) "caught up" in Israel's operations in Lebanon. However, I have yet to come across any BBC item anywhere which features British citizens presently in Haifa, Tiberias, Safed or elsewhere - and there surely must be some - who can give first hand information of life under Hizbullah rocket attack. This distorted dishonest reporting is disgraceful.

This call for a cease fire, with the United States not wanting an immediate one, reminds me of the 1973 Was. At the end, there was a call for a cease fire, but Israel wante to continue fighting longer to make some territorial adjustments. Henry Kissinger reportedly told the Israelis to ignore the cease fire and keep fighting for a day more. I suspect the US, and maybe the Europeans, would like to give Israel enough time to finish off Hezbollah before they demand a cease fire.
