1. What does talking get you???
DR ,   Florida, USA   (07.17.06)
How long have Israel and the US and the UN and the Eu been talking to these crazy Muslim countries??? It never gets you anywhwre...they lie and lie some more and say that they want peace...BS!!! Time for talking is over, they started a war, we will finish it...period!!! I hope Isarel and the US will see it this way too.
2. Thank G-D for that!
Irish Guy 2112 ,   Tel-Aviv   (07.17.06)
Seen by the outside world as a great leader and a man of peace, Peres is a failure, a weak man, whose views only encourage terrorists and despots. For a man who opposed the attack on Osiraq by the IAF to want to "talk" to Lebanon is like America sending Michel Moore to "talk" to bin Laden... Good man, Olmert!
3. Peres

6. JUDAS IN KNESSET ?
Flip ,   NEWCASTLE RSA   (07.17.06)
Mr Olmert, beware, you have a infiltrator in your knesset. Send him on long absence of duty, and deal with him later. You are fighting against the devil and his demons, all the Islamic world is under his control. The devil is the father of LIES. You cannot believe one word what they are saying. Check your manual, the Tanach, GOD instructed HIS people to wipe out their enemies. What greater confirmation do you want. - IGNORE PERES !!!!
7. Congratulations,Olmert!
keren ,   sao paulo   (07.17.06)
Keep Peres very far! Better yet,put him in retirement already! The time is overdue to it!
8. When will we ever learn?
MIK ,   Stamford, CT   (07.17.06)
We are in this mess thanks to Shimon Peres and his support of the Oslo "peace" process. Apparently, Mr. Peres still does not understand the proper way to deal with thie terrorists. So Shimon, wake up and smell the coffee! Now is the time for action - UNRESTRAINED action. Don't tie the hands of TZAHAL. Let them do the job properly. Let us all remember to pray for their success by saying Tehilim chapters 83, 130 and 142. Be'ezrat Hashem Naleh Venatzliach
9. Peres Shmeres.
Yakov, Ph.D. ,   Ashkelon   (07.17.06)
10. Peres has always been bad for Israel
Marcel ,   Florida   (07.17.06)
Like stepping in a pile of dog excrement ,Israel just can't seem to get Peres off it's shoe. His many years of Oslo ,Mitchell ,Zinni,Wye, Sharm El Sheikh,Aquaba has brought Israel to it's present situation and not peace. Arrest this dog excrement
11. olmert woke up? Boker Tov!
hanina ,   usa   (07.17.06)
Good going olmert. First good decision, now keep it up!
12. Hizbullah must be destroyed before talks
Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (07.17.06)
Negotiations, talks and the proposed "international peacekeepers" are all a trap which Israel must be wary of falling into. The purpose of the trap is obvious - to protect Hizbullah. Israel must continue its operations until Hizbullah is destroyed; its weapons, bases, personnel and infrastucture must be utterly rooted out. Never again should Israel allow itself to be held hostage on the northern border. The fact that the UN and the EU are getting involved shows how worried they are that Israel will win this war. Their "peacekeepers" would protect the terrorists. The next few days will be difficult, but Israel must stay resolute and put itself in a position to negotiate from strength, not weakness.
13. It's only a few rockets, what's the big deal...right Peres?
Jeremiah ,   Israel, Jewish Land   (07.17.06)
14. Peres
Bill Pearlman ,   Chicago, USA   (07.17.06)
Peres has a history of thinking that he is some sort of brilliant deal maker and has the authority to go his own way, outside of channels, and make deals on his own. Perhaps he should examine his own role in bringing Israel to this point and just go awat for a while. This situtaion is not for the diplomats right now, it's for the warriors
15. Will someone please tell him to stuff it and retire??
Annie ,   Ofarim, Israel   (07.17.06)
We are being bombarded and he goes on bleating about how we should have cookies and coffee and talk about it. Nothing to loose my foot. Nothing but self-respect. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE retire already.

keren ,   sao paulo   (07.17.06)
May I add something in your next phrase? "Never again should Israel allow itself to be held hostage on the northern border,EASTERN BORDER,SOUTHERN BORDER,WESTERN BORDER,ANY BORDER!!!!!!."
20. Peres
Nathalie ,   USA   (07.17.06)
If Peres thinks there in "no harm" in talking, he should remember how much damage all that talking in Oslo did to Israel. We ended up trading land for war. No thanks Mr. Peres, I believe it is time for you to retire.
21. Peres the 7 time looser do us a favor & go home.
Avraham ,   Netivot   (07.17.06)
22. Peres seeking limelight
Bernard Ross ,   St. Anns Bay Jamaica   (07.17.06)
Peres just wants to stay in the limelight and portray himself as a preacemaker. What Israel needs to do is pacify lebanon to the lItani. Then there wont be talk about how far the missiles can reach.
23. Send peres to lebanon
jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.17.06)
maybe they will get rid of him for us or appoint him to the hizbull-ah high council. Too bad he was never man enough to have worn a uniform in the I.D.F.His talking has put us in enough danger.
24. Peres,Shmeres, sit down and shut the '#=~ @ up
Alan ,   SA   (07.17.06)
25. Olmert's right
John ,   NZ   (07.17.06)
Destroy Lebanon more, only then Israel can have more bargaining power. Pound them into submission. The Lebanese Govt. sees Hisbullah as guardian angels rather than trouble makers. Israel must make sure they see the other way.
26. PERES AGAIN /simple Simon says
Ameri. center ,   New YOrk USA   (07.18.06)
"I will tear 'Kriah on the Medina if I ever see Peres sitting as a minister in Israel "Moshe Sharett pg 2301 "I made my participation in the Govt.conditional on isolating Peres from any security issues or information"Golda Meir Mem.235""Labor must never allow Peres to be a P.M. a man who never donned an army uniform (served) Rabin ,Mem.418{mUST MORE BE SAID}
27. Siniora is not Hezbollah
Atanaum ,   Sydney, Australia   (07.18.06)
I think it a pity that talks with Lebanon cannot get started. It's right, for now, for the warriors to have the ascendancy but surely there should also always be room for negotiations with appropriate parties. I would agree that Islamist parties have now forfeited any right to be regarded as "appropriate" but surely the Lebanese PM is a legitimate talking partner.
