How is this for a solution: 1) Immediate ceasefire 2) Israel trades prisoners for soldiers 3) Hizballah agrees to disarm and leave southern Lebanon in a VERIFYABLE way, and this is announced by their leadership 4) Lebanon establishes diplomatic relations with Israel. 5) The world rebuilds the damage that was done I think Israel would be willing to release prisoners and criminals, even though this is difficult to do, if it meant that diplomatic relations would be established with Lebanon. I know this is probably a dream, but if all sides agree, and some way (although it may be impossible) is established to Verify that each side is living up to their agreements, then this may be a good solution. Nasrallah will look like a hero for obtaining the release of prisoners. The Israeli public is happy that diplomatic relations are established with a former enemy... Everyone wins. Maybe someone should conduct polls and ask citizens of both countries if they like this idea.

While it is true that in wars have casualties, the scope of the casualties of the present situation call for a real name to the war. at the present time, the number of lost lives on the Israeli side is between 30-40. Having a relationship with Egypt, or with Jordan, or with Lebanon will not solve the problem. The people of these countries do not see a difference between Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine... it is all one nation. So, you have to give them their rights first, so they can accept peace.

It saddens me to say this, but the actions of the IDF in Lebanon at present are abhorrent and disgrace the entire nation of Israel. Of course Israel has every right to seek out Hezbullah and destroy their military capacity but not in the manner they have chosen. Bombing the entire Lebanese population back into the Stone Ages reduces the IDF to the moral level of some terrorist who elects to walk into a restaurant in Jeruslaem wearing a semtex vest and blow innocent women and children to smithereens.
