Northern Command chief: Don’t count the casualties    Miri Hason
31. To 10
It was proposed. Hizbollah refused. Why would you assume that Nasrallah would be seen as a hero in a scenario that resulted in Hizbollah losing power and Israel forging relations with Lebanon? Believe me, the prisoners are a means to gain power and weaponry in Lebanon - if it results in him losing these, you'll see him drop the cause of the prisoners in a second flat. In fact, he's fighting so hard right now so that he won't have to make that choice. It's a fantasy, ZS.

Remind me, did Hizbollah sign on to that agreement as well? Some Arab/Muslim organizations don't recognize Israel either... turns out those are the ones Israel's fighting. So much for that treaty.

35. Response to "stop war"
Quote: " Instead of loosing more lives, why don't we stop war and exchange prisoners. A 1000 less mouth to feed would save a lot of money. We don't need them anyway, let the Palestinians and Lebanese feed them!! " ehud, hiroshima What a terrible idea. That would be the equivalent...no that would actually be israel giving his enemies reinforcements. Do you really believe the prisoners will peacefully go one in their lives with out fighting their former captors?

What does that mean "Israel will win what exactly? a war against a group of soldiers." Wars tend to be against soldiers. The only time people decide to fight citizens instead is when they are terrorists. Which is why the IDF is getting rid of hizballah. It is tired of Hizballah's war against its citiznes

38. To Egal...One Problem at a time
I didn't suggest a solution for all the problems in the world at once...Let us first solve this current one, then move on to the next. As to who will pay for it, all parties can pay...Israel can pay for a lot, some others can contribute...Who will pay is not so important at the beginning...if both parties agree to the idea, then they can talk about who will pay...Im sure the Israelis would not mind paying a large portion as part of the deal. Both sides have lost civilians...The civilian loss is tragic.. I am proposing a plan that will put an end to the current situation and help rebuild the destruction that was caused...and part of the rebuilding is help for the civilians who lost family members. This was #5 in my plan. Until the people of these different countries see that they are citizens of that country, and not just one big nation, then a solution isn't possible. If they want to claim that they are part of one big nation, first the governments must give up their sovereignty and become one nation, with a single representation in the UN, etc. I just don't see that happening.

Mr big shot, It would have been better for you to keep your mouth shut as you got a beating in VietNam. Here is not the place were you would show your bravery, you had the chance to do that in Vietnam and you flunked so spare us your non-sense. It is funny how you guys do not even pay attention to the weaponry you have and the ones you are being faced with. The vietnamese were facing you with primitive weapons and explosives, heck with knives being barefeet while cowards like you were fully armed from tip to toe. Let me tell you something you arrogants don't know. You guys fight for money, for oil, for power, others fight for justice, for their lives, for their dignity. The IDF has been trying to cross the border for the past 8 days. They couldn't advance an inch, they already suffered 8 deaths and severals injuries. With all the military power you guys got, you still can't make any incursions. Your technological advances are being proved as useless. Your warship fighter which is considered one of the best you got was destroyed, your mirkavas are being blowed up by the dozen. You aren't able to pull your deads back. Isn't this humiliating? Till when will Olmert go on with this? Is there any chance of achieving results?

There are no innocent Lebanese out there! Instead of disarming Hizbullah as they agreed to when Israel left the south of Lebanon the Lebanese government did nothing, the population of Lebanon did nothing. They are all party to this war, they support Hizbullah and their minister of defence now threatens to fight against Israel to protect Hizb in the case of ground invasion. This is a war between Lebanon and Israel and in ANY war there will be innocent civilians who die. If Hizb was a bit better at it there would have been hundreds of innocent Israeli civilian deaths by now. Oh you, European liberals.... Just sitting there waiting for your countries to become islamic republics. I will see how well the muslims treat the infidels once they become the majority...

i disagree completely. if israel did make an agreement with lebanon about leaving, it would have been the equivalent of the oslo accords. do you really think that hizbullah would have just disappeared into the political landscape? maybe yossi belin's crowd would think that, but i wouldn't bet a shekel on it. assuming you could get an agreement from lebanon is a big asumption in the first place. and, if israel expected 2 months of silence we'd still be there (just like there was never a day when there wasn't violence from the palestinians during their 'cease-fires'). you give too much credit to the lebanese and underestimate their hatred of israel, from the leadership on down (unlike jordan and egypt, who had leaders who were willing and bold enough to make peace). not to mention the fact that hizbullah has, is, and for some time will be calling the shots there in lebanon. the nature of hizbullah (like hamas, etc) requires that they be confronted and defeated because they will not back down on their own and there is no one in the region that is able to confront them, except israel.

43. Re: # 14 and more
Thank you for spelling out blind truth. The bottom line is that palestinians had a lot of opportunities to make peace and establish a state but instead voted for a terrorist oranization to represent them in an international arena. The fact that pals teach their kids terror instead of math and economics only ensures that their struggle will continue. As for the rest of you israel haters, here are a few facts. Israel was established by an international body on the land that they historically shared with arab population. Note, that there was NO palestinian state and the land that they claim they have lost was actually used to establish a democratic state. It has been over 1/2 a century and pals still cannot get over the fact that the land doesn't belong exclusively to them. its shared. At the time of war, its customary for the loosing side to loose part of their land. It was done in germany after ww2 and if pals continue firing rockets, they will only ensure that the land that they occupy now will not be a state as long as terror continues. There is no need to cry to the world community, but instead look at the problems within. Like arafat who robbed his own people, or hamas who ensures suffering for palestinians. Lesson: change your mentality or your survival is at stake!

44. Israel needs to eradicate the terrorists
All this talk of stopping the fighting protects the terrorists and hurts Israel. Israel needs to destroy the terrorists once and for all. The rest of the world needs to destroy Iran and Syria.
