How can any intellectually honest American doubt that Israel and the USA face a common enemy? Unfortunately, democratic elections mean nothing in this hateful environment. It's only comparable to pre-War Germany when the Nazis took power through the political process. Once they got it, they ruled with merciless force and violence. Muslim extremists understand that model and seek to do the same thing. Unless moderate Muslims and secular Arabs step forward in much larger numbers, there seems little hope for averting a much wider war, which the Arab Muslims and Iranians will pay dearly for.

These are not "clerics". They are agitators and extremists in the service of political leaders, who just masquerade as religious persons. They have nothing to do with religion-they just use religion to influence poor, uninformed, isolated masses of Arabs.
