As a lebanese civilian , you should be along with your striving brothers in your home country. Despite Hizbollah , and the vaste devotion for iran and syria , they are fighting in order to liberate the occupied territorries and to exchange the prisoner. Amazingly in lebanon ; the mossad agents who where working before they were captured , they have been alerted 4 days b4 the incident on the border . Dont you believe my brother that what israel has done is just using her own soldiers as a scapgoat and to destroy lebanon . Because simply Lebanese are much better than any other pple in the region . History will show , i leave you something to read http://www.jewwatch.com/ take care and GOD BLESS LEBANON

Why keep it a secret? soon enough it will be filled!!!
33. #19 Our government didn't provide Israel with Merkavas
Russell ,   Miami   (07.22.06)
Merkava is a Hebrew word - fitting since it is an entirely Israeli tank conceived and built in Israel. Don't underestimate Israel's military, soldiers or fighting capacity. You will do yourself a disservice.
34. Many claim Hizbullah is Lebanon
MARK ,   USA   (07.23.06)
Lebanon never refused Hizbullah money. That money had a price. The destruction of their country. The Lebanese chose that option and have no right to complain that their country is in ruins. Terrorists must never become part of any government. Death and destruction is the result. Look at Hamas in Gaza. Gaza is a mess.
35. Hezbullah put rockets in civilian areas
MARK ,   USA   (07.23.06)
Hezbullah purposely endangers the lives of civilians by hiding military equipment in civilian homes. Many civilians may die and Hezbullah will be to blame. It is the party of blood. They have no respect for human life.

I recall that German Prisoners were sent to the USA in WW2. I doubt its against Geneva Convention. Regardless it seems more important to me to make sure the prisoners are safe and well treated so they can be exchanged for Israeli prisoners.

This war would not have happened if Hezbollah was disarmed per UN 1559 and had not kidnapped 2 soldiers in a cross border raid. Sending over 1600 missles into Israel wasn't exactly an invitation for peace either. Unfortunately Israel has learned through bitter experience that turning a cheek doesn't work as a deterrent. There will be no winners here. I am sorry for your pain but ask that you be strong enough to believe in peace. Israelis don't hate the Lebonese or any one else; they hate violence, killing and don't want to be threatened with annihilation. Unfortunately Israel must punish Hezbollah and many innocents, such as you and your family, will suffer. I pray for those who are killed, for those who have been made to suffer and for the soldiers who are asked to do things that no person should be asked to do. I pray that cooler heads prevail when the killing is over and that there are people strong enough to work for peace.

4. Gitmo East? Why not wall in So. Lebanon and make a giant open air prison like you did in Gaza? Kevo , Miami, USA (07.22.06) _______ Although your sarcasm is obvious, your idea has merit!! Take 20 miles from the northern Israeli border north to the river. This is no mans land - Anybody in this area is shot on site! OR wall off this area, allow all Hizballah captives free movement WITHIN the area. Anyone attempting to break out, is neutralized with extreme prejudice.

Isn't their a gay rights rally or PETA rally that you can go to? People like you are a gross violation of intelligence. Go hug your soul mate and turn the TV to a rerun of Queer Eye For The Straight Guy on BRAVO. War is "icky" anyway.

This could be called "Club Gitmo Med". What a brilliant idea! The advertisement could be, "Club Gitmo Med, when the Caribbean Gitmo just won't do." I'm thinking time shares here! Half a year on the Med and half in the Caribbean.

I hear the pain you are feeling right now. I just know that when hezbollah is wiped out of Lebanon and a stable democractic goverment is in its place the world community will help with rebuilding. Once it is secure, the people and businesses will return. Your here for a reason. Don't give up. Your family needs you.
42. Re: A Lebanese Opinion
Edwin Ritchie ,   Canada   (07.23.06)
Chadi, you say: “Hezbullah is not Lebanese people.” You are wrong. Hezbollah exists in Lebanon at the pleasure of the Lebanese. You can’t expect us to believe all the thousands of missiles and armaments were being transported into Lebanon, and in one case guided by Lebanese radar, without your full knowledge. It simply doesn’t make sense you had no idea that Hezbollah was arming, digging in and preparing for war against Israel under your very noses! This is especially unbelievable as you were repeatedly warned of Hezbollah’s intentions be the international community. You were asked to disarm them. But no, you voted the bastards into the government. Now your governmental officials threaten to have your army fight Israel alongside their comrades, Hezbollah. Despite your having the most to loose, you continue to defend your brothers-in-arms. May you all suffer the same fate as your beloved maniacal heroes! You deserve each other.
43. Thank you Chadi over your concern for the Jewish people
AK   (07.23.06)
I'm being sarcastic, of cause. You blame Israel for the Lebanese allowing their country to become a heaven for Hezbollah terrorists? That's truly rich. Why don’t put the blame where it belongs? Hezbollah terrorists and sympathizers are Lebanese and other Muslims, not some outer-space invaders. Blame the Arab countries and Iran for supporting and funding the terror campaign against Israeli civilians. You Arabs sure love to hate and blame others for what you cause. You should be sorry for the Israeli civilians dead and wounded by the aggression coming out of Lebanon. Lebanon is not a victim of Israel; it is an Israel being victimized by Lebanon.
44. Chadi-Sionora says hes too weak to take on Hezballah but..
Alan ,   SA   (07.23.06)
he says he wants to fight Israel if they cross into Lebanon and take on Hezballah for him. The world( that counts) today has had enough of Terrorist "Vaticans". Like Lebanon, Pakistan Talibans in Waziristan,Iraq etc. The host country says they are too weak or just wont do anything about these parasites

All the soldiers here want to return to Lebanon and not just the young ones. 40+ years old want to volunteer. We saw how Hizballah fled from Marwahin three days ago when Herev battalion got there. They didn't even take the coffee off the fire and left RPGs and katyusha rockets as they fled to the mountains. Not to mention the tens of bodies of militants you can find in caves that IDF SF blew up.

The fact that you believe anything on al-arabiya or al-manar shows what an unintelligent person you are. the idf teaches the us and other terror fighting countries how to fight arabs. there are 2 large bases in israel with model arab towns. the state of israel makes millions every year giving lessons on how to squash towel heads that use children as human shields.

I am a Christian American who follows events in Israel closely. I am very sorry for the destruction that is happening to Lebanon at this time. Let me share this with you: As you know, there are kind people and evil people in EVERY NATION. And you probably know also that to HATE is an evil emotion, but it can be very hard to be cleansed of it. I can certainly understand how you feel. I am 47 years old, and well studied in history, so I see things as a PROCESS, rather than as an EVENT. The EVENT of this war is a result of a PROCESS that has been going on since before the Jews were even given their initial piece of land for the nation now called "Israel". However, to bring this up-to-date, sadly, this was very predictable and INEVITABLE - it was GOING to happen and NOBODY could have stopped it. It was only a matter of time. When Israeli troops pulled out of Southern Lebanon many years ago, and Hizbullah bribed and bullied their way in Lebanese politics to get access to that land, the stage was set for trouble. However, many stages take a long time to develop. I have been reading reports for MANY YEARS about the build-up of weapons going on in Syria and Lebanon. It would have taken a civil war in Lebanon to stop Hizbullah back then, and the world would not have helped the "good guys" (those who love freedom) very much. So what the Lebanese did was predictable and understandable. The Hizbullah are very evil in some ways, but they did a lot to help the Lebanese rebuild their nation. Where was the rest of the world? I don't know, but as Americans pour BILLIONS of dollars into world humanitarian projects, I wish we could have helped rebuild Lebanon and shown kindness to compete with the likes of Hizbullah. (I honestly don't know the history of that.) However, once the "stage" was set, because of the irrational hatred of so many Arabs against the Jewish nation The Jews may tend toward arrogance, and be downright infuriating at times, but they run the most free, productive, and prosperous society in the region. Surely if the evil lies about Jews were not taught throughout 95% of Muslim communities, some common ground for mutual prosperity could have been found by now. But that is "not in the cards" that the Jews have been dealt. And such a mutual prosperity was "not in the cards" that Lebanon was dealt, because Hizbullah gained so much power there. (end of part one.)

part 2: The delusion that Israeli land can be taken back and given to Arabs has been driving these madmen ever since 1948. And SO MANY have suffered because of it. When will Arabs stop deluding themselves and realize that all Israel WANTS is to live in peace as a Jewish State, and that even MORE than the Palestinians -- they have nowhere else to go? Jews have been persecuted all over the world for many centuries! Now they have a homeland, and the Arabs say it is theirs instead. The Arabs need to admit they have been wrong, and to stop the hate-filled brainwashing of the Palestinians so that they can be productive citizens. The Arabs need to stop living to hate, and instead LIVE TO LIVE. But they can't do that without the help of the other Arab nations. As long as every spare dollar is spent on weapons instead of REAL EDUCATION and learning a PRODUCTIVE LIFESTYLE, they will remain slaves of a Jew-hating system. And that makes them Israel's enemy. And since many Americans have friends and family in Israel, and love the land of Israel, that makes those Arabs our enemies as well. (Many American soldiers will be willing to go and fight against thoese Arabs if Israel ever needs it.) So, unfortunately, you are trapped in the middle of a PROCESS between nations that is much BIGGER than your or my love, hatred, anger, etc. I pray that you will be able to rise above the hate, and find a life of blessing where you can put the pieces back together. Once this war is over, according to the Prophets Ezekiel and Zechariah, if I understand them, part of Lebanon will become a kind of international stronghold where people from all over the world will settle. It will probably be the very place where the fighting is going on. I pray that God will have mercy on Lebanon soon, and move the NATIONS to have pity and help rebuild Lebanon to everything it was just a few weeks ago, and MUCH MORE.

well, after reading your replies.....i thank all who have answered.... for those who say that Lebanon never refused Hezbullah's money, he is hosting Hezbullah, Lebanese chose that option and have no right to complain, we voted the bastards in the government, we deserve each other, our beloved maniacal heroes, lebanse allowing their country to be a heaven for hezbullah, ........ i don't know if i have to laugh or cry because of your opinions.....you know nothing about Lebanon.....you have forgotten that we have also suffered from 30 years of syrian occupation and that syrian has refunded Hezbullah with iran and not Lebanese people.....Lebanon never received Hezbullah's money. Hezbullah's money only served Hezbullah'people inHezbullah's region and not Lebanon (if it served Lebanon, i would not have been obliged to leave to France and work there.....) NO,NO and No we did not choose this option....it is syria's revenge from Lebanese people and Israel is realizing this revenge....Violence only generates violence....it generates hate between future generations, it creates desires for blood and revenge (I think i can control myself and think as a business man and forget but there are others who may never forget)....How can you expect from us to live peacefully in the future and how can we forget what is happening actually??????????? (unless you exterminate all of us.....) Concernig Hezbullah in the parliament, this is due to the Lebanese election system, each region votes for their representants and not the whole Lebanese vote for the parliament....This is due to the complexity of the Lebanese society..... Concerning the prime minister opinion, i respect it, I think he is right.....he wanted to avoid civil War in Lebanon....because in this case Lebanese people are not able to fight Hezbullah....they will massacre us more and more then Israel...so being enclosed between two weapons Hezbullah's weapon and Israel's weapon (because there are no other choices left!!!!) , i think there will be less Lebanese who will die if we choose to fight Israel.... Youare obliging us to react like this....because you are not leaving choices for us , because in all cases, it is our people who are dying, our children who are suffering, and our land which is destroyed and burnt....and stop saying that northern Israel is suffering.....i know they are suffering but we are suffering one thousand time more....at least they have other choices, but we do not.......

As a Westerner, Chadi, I apologize that our memories are so short. The same news media that feed the West a bunch of ridiculous Palestinian propaganda also fail to remind us of ACCURATE history concerning Lebanon. It's one thing to say that the Lebanese AS A NATION have allowed Hizbullah to prepare for this war for AT LEAST five solid years now, and appealed to no one for help. It's another thing to ignore the internal political resistance that many Lebanese citizens have put forward to resist Hizbullah. But who are they against terrorists? IF the Lebanese people had seen clearly see the result that was INEVITABLE, they would have listened to the anti-Hizbullah crowd more closely instead of dismissing them. We'll never know what MIGHT have been, but if it HAD produced a civil war in Lebanon, then the current war will have been BETTER in the long run. The Lebanese are better off fighting a fierce Israel and losing quickly, than fighting a protracted civil war with a bunch of evil brainwashed terrorists...

LET'S BE REASONABLE YNET FELLOW READERS. FORGIVE US CHADI FOR THE MOMENT IS OF TOO HOT PASSIONS. I THINK CENTRAL LEBANON SHOULD HAVE BEEN SAVED AND YOU KNOW BETTER THAN MYSELF WHAT YOU LEBANESE REPRESENT TO MY COUNTRY. AND WHEREVER THERE IS INTELIGENCE IN THIS COUNTRY OF MINE, FROM ARTS TO BUSNESS, THERE WE ARE TOGETHER,INDEED PARTNERS, LEBANESE AND JEWS, WITHOUT ANY OBLIGATION AS BRAZIL ISN'T MOSTLY LEBANESE NOR JEWISH. I MEAN REALLY WHEREVER, AT EVERY SINGLE BUSINESS, INTELECTUAL DEBATE, TALKSHOW, ARTISTICAL PRODUCYION OR PERFORMANCE, WITH ALMOST NO EXCEPTION. PEOPLE IN ISRAEL DIDN'T REALIZE YET HOW MUCH YOU ARE WORTHY, PLURAL AND IMPORTANT TO THE FUTURE OF THE MIDLE EAST. WAKE UP MY FELLOW COMMENTERS OF YNET: CHADI IS MAKING A NON HOSTILE COMMENT FOUNDED ON FACTS. LEBANON HAS A NATURAL LEAN TO FREE BUSINESS, PRODUCTION, SCIENCE AND DEVELOPMENT THAT MAKES OF IT A COUNTRY WHICH IS GOT NO ADVANTAGE OF MAKING WARS. LEBANESE PEOPLE HAS BEEN ABLE TO EXPELL THE SYRIAN BY PACIFIC STREET DEMONSTRATIONS THAT OVERTOOK THE SYRIAN PROGRAMMED ONES. IT'S HIGH LEVEL PEOPLE. IF IT SEEMS FOR US NOW THAT THEIR VICTIMIZATION IS UNAVOYDABLE FOR THE POLITICAL AND MILITARY SITUATION, AT LEAST WE SHOULD NEVERSAY OR THINK THEY DESERVE IT. IT'S A SHAME TO DO SO. THEY'VE BEEN ONLY VICTIMS SINCE FROM THE PALESTINIAN REFUGEES PROBLEM, AND SO ON. AND IT'S REMARKABLE THEY ARE THE ARAB COMMENTERS STILL LESS HOSTILE HERE IN THE TALKBACKS AT THIS VERY MOMENT OF WAR.THIS IS DUE TO THEIR HIGH LEVEL OF POLITICAL DEBATE, EXCEPT OF COURSE TO THE FEW HIZBALLAH SUPORTERS AMONG THEM.

Apparently, you are the one of knows nothing about Lebanon. But first let tell mostly everyone that Hizbolla are Lebanese people and they are part of the Lebanese society. It is impossible to take out/wipe out and all the other words used by everyone on this page. Hizbolla has contributed a lot to the South and people owns them a lot for liberating the south and they will again. Back to you Chadi, you are sad for your country to be destroyed by the israelis and upset from hizbolla as well. First of all, you shouldn't have left your family behind and you should at lease have contributed a litte for your country instead on whinning in here. We don't need people like you. I, also, wanna ask you how about the 20 yrs of civil war that destroyed our country for no ethical reason. Why you don't ask those warlords who are also in the parlimant in what they benefited after all. Go and ask Jaajaa and ask him for his help. This war now is more ethical and we should be proud from what the Lebanese resistance is contributing. What did you contribute for Lebanon?

Sorry "Ralf" war is not a "fair fight." If Hexbollah is so pitiful and can't afford tanks and fighter jets, then they shouldn't attack a nation that has them. IOW my fiend, don't bring a knife to an F-16 fight.

David ,   Hardeeville, SC USA   (07.23.06)
re: #53 Leave it to a Hizbullah supporter to call their enslavement and bullying of the Lebanese there "liberating". There are Lebanese citizens FIGHTING AGAINST Hizbullah these very days, just trying to ESCAPE the tyranny of being forced to act as "human shields" for their terrorist activities. The Lebanese don't NEED that kind of "liberation". They need help from REAL friends that won't offer help with one hand, and stab them in the back witrh the other, like Hizbullah has done. Those Lebanese who do NOT want to go to war with Israel have been forcibly sucked into the war anyway. THAT is NOT liberation. AFTER Israel does what the Lebanese could NOT do -- to drive Hizbullah out of Lebanon -- then watch and see who is Lebanon's real friend. If Hizbullah starts taking out its revenge because their pride is hurt, their attacks will kill men, women, and children alike, as the Palestinians do. That will save their pride in their own violent, maniacal eyes. And to them, their pride is worth all the bloodshed and tears and pain and hatefulness. The sooner the Arab world sees that, and decides to stop allowing these hateful ones to hijack Islam and brand almost all Muslims as complicit in their evil, the sooner things will settle down. The West can go to war, but we cannot force people to think soundly.

The IDF would be doing a huge disservice to the people it is charged to DEFEND if it didn't advance its military technology to the best of its ability. If Hizbullah starts a war with a country that has Merkavas, then nobody should be surprised when those Merkavas are used in battle.
