I have a question. How many rabbis serve in the IDF. How far down the chain of command do they go. Does every unit have one and do they go into the field with the men. And if not, why not. The rabbis, if they are true Jews, true men of God, should be with the men. I don't care what denomination they are they should be on the field with the men not sitting this out in yeshivot.

Every regiment(brigade in our terms) has a Rabbi. Each Battalion has an NCO attached to the rabbinical services. The Rabbis ARE in the field. In addition the divisional rabbinical staff and the command(north, central or souhthern) rabbinical staff deal comprehensively with issues such as dealing with bodies of fallen enemies.
