31. Arnold is not a very smart choice!!!
Alex ,   West Bank   (07.24.06)
Arnold is known to be not a good actor. Do not you realize that you need most talented actors all over the world to slightly justify your inhumane actions agianst the Lebanese people?? You could have had imposed an air & a sea siege, but you want a whole country destroyed. Believe me Isreal lost alot of its humanity in this war.

Peter Pan ,   Neverland   (07.24.06)

34. Midwest also supports Israel
Deborah ,   Midwest, USA   (07.24.06)
Not only is Israel supported in large states such as New York and California, but the states of the Midwest, the West and the South also support Israel in her struggle against terrorists and murders.
35. the french can kiss my $%#
aaron ,   tel aviv, Israel   (07.24.06)
Ya thats exactly what they are protesting agianst you frog. While your leader sold the most massive means of destruction to one of the worlds worst people, and it took Israel to make sure that saddam would never be able to use a nuke. You french forget so easily what it is like to have your country be under constant threat, and have to placate to all you euro trash while you sit in your cafe and talk about how everyone else is fucked up. No you are the shame to humanity you anti-semetic shmuck.
36. Confronting Terrorist
Richard ,   Chicago,USa   (07.24.06)
Israel must be supported by the US and the world, fighting terrorism is every civilized countries responsibility. It is no doubt a morale booster to know that the US supports Israel. However,it is time that EU and clear thinking Arab countries form a unified visable stand against Hezbollah,Hamas and other terrorist groups that use religious cover to promote their evil goals. If these terrorist were not supported by evil goverments such as Iran and Syria they would not exist ,and the world would be an infinitely better place.

Deborah ,   Midwest, USA   (07.24.06)
Sir, you should check your facts before making sweeping statements. True, like all nations and peoples, the U.S. has its uneducated and/or uncaring element, but many Americans are well versed in the history, geography, etc. of the Middle Eastern nations. Could you say the same of our country? All the information you know of the U.S. is probably taken from movies and television, which does not represent the reality of the American people, but only exists in the minds of Hollywood producers and actors, who make their living pretending.
38. #7 Got anymore good jokes - you are too funny.
Talula ,   Israel   (07.24.06)
Did you think for one second about what you wrote here? I can't stop laughing at you. That's the funniest thing that has ever been written here. You are going to crush god. HA HA HA HA HA HA May I ask how? with a home made kassam? You really should be a comedian. The reality of the situation is this. Gaza is hanging on by its teeth - your terrorist government are having daily fist fights with the opposition and the other half of your government is sitting in an Israeli prison. You are being bombarded by combat helicopters, and thousands of your scum-bag terrorists are also sitting in an Israeli prison. I'm sure god is really scared of you. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAA!!!!!!! But, what the hell, if it gets you by...

41. PR move?
Sharon ,   Haifa, formerly Cali   (07.24.06)
Perhaps in reaction to the fight over his father having been a Nazi collaborator? Either way, it doesn't matter, as there are still plenty of people in his state who truly support us.
42. Deborah...excellant point!
Parkek ,   Hong Kong   (07.24.06)
In fact, I suspect that the supporters of Israel in the Midwest, West and South are greater and more intense in their support than that of the more liberal left coastal (blue?) states.
43. India is with Israel
Manish Singh ,   India   (07.24.06)
I an from India. I don't really understand the history of the middle east, but it is not important, because I understand the present. And from what I see, the Palestinians and the Hizaballah are trouble makers. Arnold, I love you !!!!
44. Rally: All of California stands with Israel
Sharra ,   California   (07.24.06)
THIS TITLE: ~~~Rally: All of California stands with Israel ~~~ is a bald faced lie, as ALL of us do NOT stand with Israel..... and the truth of it is that out of the nearly ten million inhabitants of L.A. County, or the four million in the city of L.A., your piddling 10,000 that you profess to have been at this rally are just about as negligible a group as you could have come up with.... Los Angeles' Day without a Mexican got half a million....... Just as the pretexts for this war were lies, your ~~~Rally: All of California stands with Israel ~~~ is also a lie. And in London you got 7,000 out of the seven million who live there??? I suppose in your estimation that amounts to ALL of England!
45. What gives him the right
Liberal ,   Los Angeles   (07.24.06)
California is a democratic state not republican. I highly dought that the whole state is in support of Israel. PR move if you ask me, he's a republican and he needs the Jewish vote for the upcomming election. I wont vote for him, that's a fact.

JZ ,   Washington DC   (07.24.06)
Well #8 does have a point. Many Americans do not really know what is going on in the Middle East. I know many people who have blind support for Israel, but do not really understand the situation. I used to be one of those people, and then I studied in Israel and the West Bank. I lived with Palestinians and got to know them and understand the terrible situation they are living in. Americans don't understand what it is like to have to go through several checkpoint to travel from one city to another inside your own country! People have to travel for hours just to make what should be a half hour trip. Palestinian homes are buldozed by Israelis, to build the Wall. Palestinians have their olive groves stolen from them just so Israel can build settlements or extend the Separation wall to create more land for Israel. Oh, and one other thing that many Americans do not understand, is that not all Palestinians are terrorists, in fact the overwhelming majority of them are not, but rather are very nice people. Now many of them greatly dislike Israel, but how would you feel if a group of people did all the above-mentioned things to you? Americans just do not understand the suffering of the Palestinian people. We empathize with the Israelis, which we should do, because terrorism is aweful and must be stopped. In the same way we must empathize with the Palestinians and recongnize that the occupation is aweful and must be stopped. Palestinian children have little hope of a future, because of Israeli policies, how do we expect them to love Israel? While America must support Israel, we should also criticize them when their policies harm millions of innocent people. Israel has the right to exist, but the Palestinians also have a right to a viable country, not like the one offered in 2000. Many Americans believe the Palestinians just rejected that chance to form a state in 2000, but the land was so divided with Israeli settlements and bypass roads no viable state could have been formed. We must not pray for either Arab or Jew, but we must pray that we do not divide them in our hearts. Palestinians do face daily injustices, and this is what many Americans do not know or understand.

Deborah ,   Midwest, USA   (07.24.06)
You are mistaken if you think only the American Jews are pro-Israel. Many who attend the rallies and vehemently support Israel are Christians.
49. Israel/Lebanon
john peergin ,   manila, philippines   (07.24.06)
Israel/Lebanon The solution is very simple: Israel is fighting Hezbollah from the South. If the Lebanese army now opens a second front from the North, then the terrorists will be wiped off the face of the earth. Afterwards, Israeli forces can return to their own territory and the Lebanese government can take control of all of Lebanon. So, Lebanon, start COOPERATING with Israel instead of fighting it!
50. #47 - JZ
Deborah ,   Midwest, USA   (07.24.06)
I am not heartless. I deplore war and the resulting suffering it causes. I understand that the innocent are always the first to suffer in such circumstances, and I'm thankful that my family is not currently enduring the hardships brought on by these unfortunate events. The "Palestinians", or the Arabs who formerly lived in the land formerly called "Palestine", under the British occupation, are suffering, there is no doubt. But, 58 years ago, when Israel was declared a nation by the world governing body, these "Palestinians" left their homes at the urging of the other Arab nations who promised to wipe out Israel. These same Arab nations refused to take these refugees in when this "wipe-out" did not materialize. Whose to blame? There has been a continuous Jewish presence in Israel since Joshua entered the promised land. Even after the second destruction of the temple, Jews still lived in Judea. In the late 1800's, half of the population of Judea/Palestine/Israel was Jewish. The Balfour Declaration of 1918 gave this tiny piece of land to be a Jewish homeland. After the Halocaust, many more Jews went back to Israel, it being the only place where they felt "safe", if you can call being surrounded by nations that want Israel's extinction "safe". What I want to know is, what do you think about the struggles the nation of Israel has had to endure just to remain a nation? Do you care about THEIR suffering? What is it like to go to a restaurant or ride a bus without worrying whether you will be blown up or not? What about the Israeli children that have been massacred in the name of Jihad? What do you expect the nation of Israel to do when they're constantly attacked -- sit by and wring their hands? You know, this road runs two ways.

high-profile rallies in Denver and Boulder. A lot of us car-pooled from other communities to go. Small but vibrant Jewish communities, joined by our Christian and secular friends. Israel rocks the Rocky Mountains! Love and prays to all -

Yehoshua Grace ,   Shandon, CA, USA   (07.24.06)
Are you threatening, Ahmad? All I've heard from the Muslims is brave schoolboy rhetoric. Usually in two instances: 1.) Right before they are crushed and burned by the people they are shooting at. 2.) When bravely cutting the heads off of unarmed and bound infidels. If you are allowed to speak around Captain Hook Hamzi, let him know he's got something in his eye. I'm sure he'll find a way to get it out. The Koran at least acknowledges a respect for the Bible (Book, in case you didn't realize it.), perhaps you might try reading Obadiah and see what is said. Have a nice day, Esau, and may the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, repay you for all your hard efforts. Shalom!
55. Response #7
Pat ,   Denver, USA   (07.24.06)
Crush G-d...Really. What are you thinking. While I do not wish evil on the average Palastinian or Lebonese citizen I believe that Israel has a right and a duty to its citizens to protect them. When Israel has left areas (ie. Gaza) the terrorists attack them from there. At this point, I believe that Israel should drive out all from the land that was given to them by G-d. And yes, the G-d of Abraham can and will be victorious and protect his people. He will not be crushed, but you may be, if you continue in your ways. While I am not Jewish, I will do everything in my power to support the people of Israel.

I do not believe that you are heartless and I have just as much empathy for the people of Israel as I do for the Palestinians. I lived and studied in Israel as well and got to know many Israelis and hear their struggles and the suffering they go through on a daily basis. Playing the blame game is ultimately futile. Both sides are about equally to blame in this situation, and so are the other arab states that never gave the palestinians freedom either. And I don't know where you found that the populations of Jews and Arabs were about the same in Palestine in the late 1800s. Jews made up no more than 10% of the population, Christians made up a larger percentage and Muslims the highest. Now, Israel does deserve a homeland, but they are guilty of pushing Palestinians out of their homes they had been in for centuries, and now treating them as second class citizens. This is where Israel has gone wrong. Palestinians of course have gone wrong in using suicide bombing and electing a party that will not recognize Israel. I think Israel is a wonderful country and I admire what they have accomplished, but I fear as long as they subjugate the Palestinian people through the occupation the hatred and violence will continue. Of course I don't expect Israel to just sit back when they are hit by terrorist attacks. But then how do you expect Palestinians to just sit back when they are treated like crap and have no future due to the Israeli occupation? You see this is a cycle, each side blames the other for their actions finding no fault in their own actions. Americans must not be either pro-Israel or pro-Palestine, but we need to befriend both sides. Palestinians and Israelis are all great people and deserve to live in peace.
57. To All Christians
JZ ,   Washington DC   (07.24.06)
While you support Israel, PLEASE do not forget the plight of your fellow Christians in Palestine and Lebanon! How can we as Christians just sit back and blindly support a country that IS causing suffering amongst our fellow believers? I thought we were to be unified as a world-wide group of believers. We should support Israel's right to exist, but we can not give them a blank check to inflict immense suffering on innocent populations.

Deborah ,   Midwest, USA   (07.24.06)
My figures are correct. Fully half the population of Jerusalem was Jewish as of the 1880's. Look it up in any history book on this topic or online, if you wish.
59. I was at the L.A. rally
Nancy ,   Los Angeles, CA   (07.24.06)
and it was fantastic ! Just wish there was as much coverage on it here as there is in Israel.....but the media here have no problem showing the "other" side.
60. #58 Deborah
JZ ,   Washington DC   (07.24.06)
Your statement that half the population of Jerusalem in the 1880's was Jewish is correct. However, your original statement was, " In the late 1800's, half of the population of Judea/Palestine/Israel was Jewish. " I took this to mean the whole area of modern Israel/West Bank/Gaza strip, not just the city of Jerusalem. Which, in the entire area of modern Israel/West Bank/Gaza Strip the population was not half and half, but closer to the percentages I gave.
