W T Weaver ,   Austin, USA   (07.24.06)
I generally support Pres Bush but do think we have spent too much on too many different unimportant things such as Iraq. The Israeli attack on a democratic neighbor (infrastructure, go after Hezbollah all you want) make his democracies don't attack democracies rhetoric look silly.
32. CNN supports Hezbollah and other terrorists
Jack Bauer ,   Los Angeles USA   (07.24.06)
CNN supports Hezbollah and other terrorists organizations. Their coverage is so biased it is pathetic that their reporters consider themselves journalists. CNN refuses to even mention UN resolution 1559 and they will not post any comments related to it.
33. There goes 370000 votes
Israeli ,   London   (07.24.06)
Well Mr Blair. You and your ministers disgust with Jews defending themselves against Jihadists shows your hatred of Jews. You think we should sit back and allow ourselves to be killed like in the Holocaust when British ships sent Jewish refugees back to the gas chambers not allowing them refuge in Israel. And the British refused to waste RAF bombs on bombing crematoria and railroad tracks of Auschwitz. The British and Europeans will never change! There goes 370,000 Jewish and Israeli votes in Britain in the next election. We shall now all vote conservative!

Good post, Andrew. Glad I read it and I hope everyone here reads it and sends it out far and wide!
35. to #33. Blair and his ilk show history repeats
Tamar ,   Israel   (07.24.06)
now those fleeing Lebanon to Cyprus are complaining they are too hot or it has taken so long or they are not given enough to eat. History is forgotten. Those people have no idea. My father sat in Cyprus, tired and ill and without hope after losing his entire family in Poland. Who cared then and who cares now? Upon arriving in Palestine he was shot at, fixed up quickly and then fought in the war of independence. As for Blair, it is ok as 30 stated that 3,000 innocent Iraqi's are killed each week. Oh, I forgot, that is for the war on terror! Those who slaughter Jews and Jews fight back are a royal pain the neck for the entire world. No one wants us to fight back. No one! Blair is two faced Jew Hating bigot. It makes me sick to know he is part of that US led quartet. Bad enough we are forced to endure the UN and Russia on that quartet but it becomes more evident every day that Britain is no more for Israel than the UN or Russia. Now 3 years after my precious fathers passing his words ring more true then ever. Do not trust the Brit's.
36. Hey ED, USA #19
GG Liddy ,   TX US   (07.24.06)
Gain a clue and stop being gullible. IF Israel was to hurt an innocent, it would be through accidental or collateral damage. Hezbullsh** is TARGETING innocents. Plus, phosphorus burns can come from many sources. Israel has REAL WMDs Ed. They would not risk the "press" coverage using silly a$$ed phosphorus grenades. Wake up and stop hating Jews you uneducated twit.
37. Iraq is a Paradise!
Ary ,   NY, US   (07.24.06)
It is diffiicult to believe that with all that is going on in Iraq, the UK Prime Minister and the Iraqui PM would named Lebanon's situation as a "catastrophe". Why is there no international pressure to stop the killing of muslim civilians in Iraq at the hands on other muslims. 1000 were killed in Iraq just last week alone, did you know that???
38. #28 - Showed what "all"?
Haifa, Israel   (07.24.06)
The actual attack itself? Not likely. Given the history of the region - which you can easily research, if you're actually interested in more than bashing Israel - this is necessary to draw conclusions. It is nothing for terrorists such as Hizbollah to pepper an area, cue the locals, and place the blame wherever they wish.
39. Reply to #33 Israeli, London
Larry ,   Eastbourne, UK   (07.24.06)
I'm afraid there are two mistakes in your argument. Firstly, a Conservative government will be no better for Israel than the present Labour government. Secondly, political parties are not interested in the "Jewish vote" because it is so insignificantly small numerically, added to which Jews spread their votes among the parties just like non-Jews. It's the Muslim vote that politicians want, because there are now several million (estimates vary but official figures always undercount) in the UK.
40. #27
Ireland   (07.24.06)
Yes they are called false flag operations and the CIA and Mossad have quite a history of pulling them off themselves.
41. Thanx Mr. Blair for being a "humanitarian"
North of Israel   (07.24.06)
While we rot (yes, ROT) in bomb shelters for weeks, run away from our bombarded homes, lose our businesses and while more than a thousands Isreali arabs and jews lie injured in the hospitals you talk only of the Lebanese catastrophe!!! Hypocrite! Hypocrite! Hypocrite!
42. weak
(07.24.06)

43. Blair says Lebanon is a catastrophe
david ,   costa rica   (07.24.06)
And Mr. Blair, you do not consider Iraq a catastrophe??
44. To #3 in London
David ,   Karmiel   (07.24.06)
Just remember that if it was not for Washington you lot would be singing Deutchland Uber Alles instead of God Help - I mean - Save the Queen!
45. Lebanese catastrophe
BS meter ,   Canada   (07.24.06)
There was an interview this morning on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) radio with a man who used to be Lebanon's Minister of the Economy. He now teaches economics in Beirut. Asked whether the economic damage this time was as bad as in the civil war, he said the following: In terms of cost, it is as bad. In terms of extent, it is not nearly as bad. The civil war, he said, covered the whole country. (And let's not forget who the Lebanese have to thank for that.) This war, by contrast, IS BEING TARGETED BY THE ISRAELIS SPECIFICALLY AT HEZBOLLAH STRONGHOLDS, NOT AT THE WHOLE COUNTRY OR GENERAL POPULATION
46. May I say something?
(07.24.06)
Keren- you are a moron. Shut up and sit down.
47. Blair bashing? Think bigger people!
David ,   USA   (07.24.06)
Give me a second of your time and you'll have this figured out. Follow the money and ask yourself this: Who gains from the conflict and why? Fact: Syria (land locked nation) is loosing control of Lebanon (wealthy natural port, known as the Paris of the mid-east). Fact: Syria supports and arms Hezbollah? Fact: Syria gained wealth, power and influence stepping into the civil war and taking control. Question: What's in it for Syria if a wider conflict develops? What's in it for Hezbollah if a wider conflict continues? What did George W say at the G8 conference to Tony Blair that was overheard by the media? WHy did Condi visit Lebanon first? Why was it that for the first time EVER, other arab nations condemn Hezbollah"s attack? To support an independant Lebanon! Why on earth do you think everyone wants to give aid to Lebanon? Syria is making a power move to regain control Lebanon by unleashing Hezbollah and antagonize Isreal. You miopic idiots! You think they are stupid to think they could take on Isreal? Another Lebanese civil war (yes, civil war) will set them back for their bid for independance. Which means Hezbollah will remain unchecked, Syria regains control. How does antagonizing Isreal help Lebanese moderates in regaining independance from Syria? You think the Lebanes Christians and arab moderates want to fight side by side with the same fruit cakes that ruined their country in the first place?
48. british did 10 times worse in WWII
DACON9 ,   BLAIR AFARAID   (07.24.06)
AND I THINK..BLAIR IS APPEASING THE ARABS OCCUPYING THE BRITISH COLONIES. HE IS AFRAID. LIFE IS A JOKE ITS ALL A JOKE WHO IS FOR TRUTH? MOSHE RABBEINU ABRAHAM KING DAVID WHERE YOU THE NEW KINGS OF ISRAEL WHERE IS MASHIACH?
49. To #3 EU a catastrophe
MARK ,   US   (07.24.06)
Tony Blair is a catastrophe.
50. Blair
tom A ,   canada   (07.24.06)
So sad that you are affiliated with the cause being Israel, shame on you that Israeli children are writing names on bombs before being sent into Lebanon to kill. Shame on you for being so ill informed and arrogant. Shame on you, shame on you.
51. Gutless Europeans
Brant ,   Hilton Head USA   (07.24.06)
It is becoming more and more disheartening to see the pathetic responses of the British and EU leaders whose countries now have such large and vocal Islamic minorities. Blair, Chirac, Zapatero et al are so afraid of what their own Islamist will do them that they ignore the million Israelis, Jews and Arabs alike, living in bomb shelters because of vicious terrorist attacks by Hezbollah. Their solution, blame it on the Jews. You see, when you blame thinngs on the Jews like all of Europe did before the Holocaust you isolate them and then you frighten them and then you bully them (as so many EU leaders are doing now) and ultimately if you're good at it, you make it all their own fault and wash your hands of it. Thank God Israel is strong. I say to other non Jews everywhere, remember, YOU are the only ones who can stop anti-Semitsim. The Jews can't. They can only defend and fight for their existence.
52. Israel using WMD
(07.24.06)
Not a word in your statement as to why Israel was forced into Lebanon. So here, I'll help you out...Hezbollah.
53. The UK caused this problem.
Mark ,   Usa   (07.24.06)
They conquered Israel, lost it, and left it a complete mess. They enter lands, destroy everything, create turmoil and leave. They are 100% responsibile for the Arab/Israeli catastrophe !!! Shame on the UK!!! Stop blaming other people for your own incompetence.
54. It's all catastrophic
Billie ,   Fort Myers, FL USA   (07.24.06)
This link properly explains why our efforts in the middle east will fail. Brilliant analysis! http://www.capmag.com/article.asp?ID=4738
55. to #7
Djazaïri ,   France   (07.24.06)
I think someone has forgotten the USS Liberty.
56. Blair : Fix this catastrophe
MARK ,   USA   (07.24.06)
Stop complaining and find a peaceful soulution to this crisis. The UK needs to be constructive and get involved. The United Kingdom needs to get much more involved in the peace process. They have done a terrible job and that is why people are getting killed. Action is needed and the UK is dong nothing.Nothing. Nothing!!!
57. Israel tried to give up land
Tim ,   Decatur, Alabama   (07.24.06)
In the 1990's, Ehud Barak offered 95% of what the Palestinians asked for. Since then, Israel left Golan and Lebanon. How is it, then, that they are now in any justifiable way the targets of Hezbollah??
58. # 54 Amen
Tal ,   Israel   (07.24.06)
59. UMMM could have been avoided
Roy Galut ,   Selah Washington USA   (07.24.06)
except that the world wants a political balance that allows groups like hisbullal to hold a gun to israels head,,,then expects israel to accept the fact that the nations around that region want israel to surrender her nationhood and all jews must leave the region....note the recent retoric from Iran.... short term solution would be disarm hizbullah place international troops on the border of israel and lebanon.... everyone needs to read Ezekel chapters 36 thru 40 ...G-ds time line and solution
60. The world forced Hamas to run in a election.
MARK ,   USA   (07.24.06)
The world ordered Israel to allow a terrorist group (Hamas) to run in a election. Hamas won and the world has the audacity to wonder why there is bloodshed in the Middle East. Hamas and Hziballah are financed by Iran. The world is a catastrophe !!! No government should be full of terrorists!
