During WW2 most French were collaborators and lots of them betrayed their Jewish fellowcitizens. My grand-father was a real resistant and he joined the underground shortly after France was defeated. The truth about French resistance is that lots of resisters were either Jews (about 17% of resisters were Jews while Jews made only 1% of French population), Armenians, Poles, Spaniards but very of them were Catholic French. De Gaulle was not a resistant, he didn't resist to anything, he was hidden in a palace in London, speaking at the radio and pissing off the great Winston Churchill. De Gaulle was a pathetic general and never defeated any German. The truth about resistance is that there was so many treators in France that very few resisters survived the end of the war. That's why most French don't know what is a real resister. When France was eventually liberated by Allies and genuine resisters, De Gaulle created the myth of a France full of resistants but this is WRONG.
