As for the air force saving the day "thanks to uncle sam", I can assure you that had you put diffrent pilots in those F-16s and Apache helicopters (say British pilots, for example) they wouldn't be able to perform an eighth as well as the Israelis. Syria is responsible for lot of murders. They assasinated many lebanese personalities since their entry to Lebanon in 1976. Coming to chebaa I have my trusted sources: Chebaa is lebanese. I know you won't agree but there better sources than wikipedia. I also agree that violance on the borders should stop, and it is not acceptable. But unfortunately to get peace both fighting sides should make concessions. This is the hard part...and risky one too.

Jack, this territory is officially recognized by the UN as Syrian, after a scrupulous investigations, taking into account ca, 60 previous maps issued officially by both state of Lebanon and state of Syria. Syria was asked by Israel to comment on possibility of ceding these territories to Lebanon so that Israel would then give it to Lebanon without official objection of Syria - but Syria never answered. If you have any other source, please share it with me. Take also pls into account that the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon was officially commisionned by the UN. Personally if I would be Israeli, I would urge Syria to cede it to Lebanon and give it back, but Syria first has to issue the official document! Best regards, Chris

Hey Jack, as I recall a majority of French citizens do not believe that Bin Laden was responsible for 9/11, so forgive for not taking your claims about "trusted sources" very seriously. Fact is, even the UN - not exactly a pro-Israel institution - points out that Sheba Farms is not Lebanese. I agree, though, that concessions need to be made. Syria should relinquish any claim to Sheba Farms, given that it has supported the current war against Israel as well as the one where Sheba was seized from it. In return, Israel will not seize Damascus. Fair enough?

It does appear coincidental that soon after Olmert met with our Condi (the imbecilic spokesperson for Bush), the ground troops were sent in. There has to be more to this than meets the eye? Why in heavens name would Israel, knowing full well Hezbollahs Venus Fly Trap, send troops on the ground to get slaughtered, when Israel has massive air and artillery firepower. All Israel had to do was use flame throwers, or chemical bombs to root these people out. Syria and Turkey had a land dispute a year or two ago and Assad did some terror stuff to Turkey. And Turkey massed forces on the Syrian border and Assad ceded the land to Turkey... because Turkey would have kicks Assad's butt without mercy. But Syria and Lebannon won't do the same here because Israel is Jewish and they hate Jews. Hatred never did anything smart either, did it? Can anyone expand on the Syrian and Turkish dispute?
