1. BIG MISTAKE! LEBANON spells MUD and futile casualties!
Proud Grandpa ,   www.KingArik.net   (07.28.06)
I don't want another soldier killed for this stupid war which has no end and gives no security.
2. Can ynet understand sample error?
sk ,   USA   (07.28.06)
Typically, 3-4% variation in poll results is due to random error. BTW, if 71% support use of greater force, that means that 91% of Jews support it. I'd call that "consensus."
3. Is anybody aware of any demonstrations?
Shai ,   Israel   (07.28.06)
I'd like to attend a demonstration demanding that the Cabinet allow the IDF to decisively defeat HIzbollah, by allowing the IDF to use more than 20% of their firepower. Anybody now of any?
4. To 1 - Grandpa
Shai ,   Israel   (07.28.06)
You're just going to leave it for my sons to be killed cleaning up what me and your sons don't clean up and get killed for. Mighty white of you, Grandpa. You're a very short sighted, selfish man.
5. Kill Terrorists
Vladislav Sandler ,   San Diego, USA   (07.28.06)
"No good deed goes unpunished ..." We will have to bear it ...
6. #1: King Arik knew well when to make war
Michael Steiner   (07.28.06)
If we don't fight and win this war now, we'll have to fight aa much bigger one in five years. Khizbolah is not going to go away on its own. If you really support our modern day hero, Gen. Dr. Sharon, then you should know that he had great wisdom in knowing when to make war and when to make peace. This is not the time for the latter--not yet.
7. man o man
wanda ,   montreal   (07.28.06)
#2 can you understand risible sample size? simply stand outside a recruitment office for a day and poll everyone. who conducted this poll? the banana-bread lady from the welcome wagon armed with a clip-board and a pack of juicy-fruit? the aggregate is simply too small not to be biased, therefore it's a rotten poll making this nought save propaganda. #4 you idiot, grandpa was pretty inclusive in his statement 'I don't want another soldier killed...' probably the only surefire way to get your kids killed is to support wars like this one.
8. Ehud Olmert...
Pat ,   Wisconsin, USA   (07.28.06)
Is a good man, and doing the right thing, with one exception. That exception is unleashing the Israeli military on those who wish to harm Israel and all Jews. Israel needs to destroy Hizbollah, without any concern about international backlash. Mr. Olmert knows that in his heart! I know he will do what needs to be done.
9. Real DEFEAT; VIRTUAL Victory
Dan ,   Haifa   (07.28.06)
It's clear that our army lost the war. Fact is: An army that fights with excellent forces and tanks with the assistance of an air force cannot go into a village directly on the border except after a battle that has continued for days with great losses against a number of opposition fighters is a failed and defeated army. The Olmert weak government tries to replace its failure by virtual victory to save the army reputation and its own reputation.
10. # 4 SHAI ARROGANT AND IGNORANT
Truth hurts   (07.28.06)
Its amazing that you only see a fraction of the consequences for the future in waging war. Logical tells me but apparently bypasses you, that this war will not end and achieve peace, but it will only prolong instability and hatred. Yes you will loose many sons, hubands and fathers now, but you will also loose many more to come when the next war begins. The Israeli war machine may weaken Hizibulla, it will never destroy it, it will rearm, recruit and continue its fight to achieve what Israel refuses to give them through negotiation. Israel has finally met its match, well they did in 2000 when they left south lebanon after 1000 dead soldiers. When will you, your country and its leaders ever learn that lasting peace means actually giving rather than continually oppressing and subjugating others less powerfull. Your shortsighted attitude appears to be the norm rather than an exception with Jewish people who continually cry that they are the victims. TRUTH HURTS
11. Wrong tactics.wrong strategist and wrong P.M
e.m ,   s.f   (07.28.06)
Everyone needs to understand that this is really war between a state that wants to exist and a blood-thirsty terror group that wants to kill and to dies. Use the air force and destroys all the building and save the life of our soldiers. Flattens the entire South of Lebanon by bombs and clears all ambush and traps for the ground groups By the way IDF has sophisticated x-ray camera that can check all the movement inside of building, What is going on? Every body should know how the American army bombardment Afghanistan and Iraq before use their ground troops. Why not Israel use the same tactic, Israel needs another SHARON not a coward Olmert..
12. #9 Dan..
Pat ,   Wisconsin, USA   (07.28.06)
Do you really think that Israel's IDF didn't destroy those who killed 8 Israelis? If so, you have a limited view of the power of the IDF! While it is surely terrible any Jew/Israeli died in a fight against such a worthless organization/people...I'd bet my bottom dollar they knew their sacrifice was not a vain or empty one filled with thoughts of Virgins in heaven. Something for you to chew on, Dan.
13. lebanon
ami ,   israel   (07.28.06)
if we would have used more soldiers and force we would have a victory and the world would look at us with other eyes.this two villages should be dust than we would not have this losses
14. all i know
mother ,   haifa   (07.28.06)
is that i am tired of running to the shelter with my kids all day..the noise and the fear is unbelievable. i see is that Hizbollah and the Iran P.M. get a voice on the TV screens they threaten and bully and no one gives u damn..words may be hollow but each time u give them a podium they grow stronger from the audiences that view them until finally they believe that they have the support and they move fm words to actions. I am fed up with the media making this look like some bad reality show..telling us in unsympathetic tones of displaced people etc., we did not choose this war, if we had it wud have been orchestrated differently...still we are in it, i think that we shud not assume that we can beat Hizbolla for each one lost a new one enlists..I think we shud decided what our aims are stick to them and then sit down and negotiate.. The main thing is that Nasralla has lost face and he has nowhere to hide..his time is up!
15. ISRAEL SHOULD USE MORE POWERFUL ATTACKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AVINU   (07.28.06)
IF NOT ,THEY WILL COME TO POWER AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!
16. support the war??
support ,   haifa   (07.28.06)
My bra supports me, my cane supports me..but to support a war.. i doubt that there is any Israeli, soldiers included who want war imposed on them in any shape or form...we want freedom to exist in harmony within our own borders...these people that we attack today will be our neighbours tomorrow and unless we learn to achieve some peace with those who understand that there is no other way...we need push hizbollah as far away as possible..we need to keep our soldiers safe..we do not need to go further into lebanon, we will make more enemies than Hizbollah they may disappear but some other group will come in their wake. Support the soldiers and what they are doing, risking their young lives so that we may have some peace and quiet. Let them know that they are our priority not fighting a futile war..She hael ishmor alechem! and bring u home safe and out of harms way...thank u to all the families who are lending us their sons...they are the ones who need SUPPORT!!
17. #14 Haifamother
Pat ,   Wisconsin, USA   (07.28.06)
For you to think no person cares about your suffering and having to run to bomb shelters is a little bit selfish. I'm not going to pounce on you for what you said, because I understand your frustration with what is happening to you and your family. You're indeed correct in many things you said, just remember that there are people who really do care about you :) OK?
18. war justified, hell yes!
Jorge Banner ,   BsAS, Argentina   (07.28.06)
Israel is on the verge of loosing this war by not wining it. Beware of the consequences!
19. save the soldiers
me ,   uk   (07.28.06)
just flatten them simply with 46tons. My heart is crying for the joung boys!!! Bomb them flatten them they have no mercy on you!
20. shaking hands with terrorists
Leo ,   Detroit, usa   (07.28.06)
Israel should just destroy these terrorists, hezbollah, hamas, etc. and by the way, everyone is upset and "outraged" about the bombing, come on, the un observers have 2000 troops there and are useless. They need to leave too, they are just shelters for terrorists. Lebanon shouldn't complain, " we can't control southern lebanon." why didn't you try then insteady of just letting go and letting them take over? well, all these americans also that have family in southern lebanon, that's bullcrap that you say israel is the bully, that's like in the old days in american when you knew who the mafioso were and never said anything, but enjoyed the perks that came with the territory, come on, pick a side, if you give food /shelter, support with money to the terrorists, then don't complain when a bomb comes your way. I hate war and war sucks, but it happens and lebanon either fights the terrorists in their company or joins them.
21. To Wanda (7)
Shai ,   Israel   (07.28.06)
Let's start with Wanda's theory that Shai is an "idiot". Montreal is not under military threat, and in your distance it might seem feasible that no soldiers will be killed if only we agree to the terms of our enemy. This is a mistaken belief. We are literally talking about life and death of Israeli citizens, threatened daily by an army that has 13000 weapons pointed at our major cities, and a nation that wishes to relocate us in Alaska (Iran), and they have shown a willingness to make their dreams reality. When you've faced that in Montreal, you'll be more circumspect about how you speak. The fact is that the soldiers that will be killed if we do not sacrifice soldiers now in this war will be the 10 to 13 year olds, in greater quantities, like my sons, who will face a stronger enemy 5 to 8 years out if we do not deal with them now. The surefire way to put them in the grave is to not put myself at risk of an early grave. If you have children, or if your friends do, would you look at them in the face and sacrifice their tomorrow so that you could pass your today with your pollyanish views intact? Maybe you are an idiot and you would. But I am not an idiot, and I won't.
22. To 10 - Truth Hurts
Shai ,   Israel   (07.28.06)
Regarding 10, let's start with your claim that I am "arrogant". I have heard the words "arrogant" to describe those who opposes the Islamic fundamentalists' claim that they have the exclusive franchise on truth, such that anybody who disagrees with them is told "truth hurts". Yet, it is you who wears this arrogance as your moniker. I therefore bow to you on this one - by comparison, I am most humble. Regarding your claim that I am ignorant: There has never been a war that was won by what "logic" has told you, by conceding to your enemy's terms. Wars are won by defeating the enemy. You seemingly unaware of this, you would be mistaken in claiming those who don't believe what you do are ignorant, and in fact, you would be considered "ignorant". We have tried your methods. We swallowed our suspicions and accepted the withdrawal from Lebanon and Gaza because we were told that it would make us more safe to do so, and if not, we could reinvade and make those who took advantage of our good will pay the price for making us face a greater danger than we faced when we were in those territories. Our withdrawal didn't make us safer, it had rather the practical effect of emboldened people like you to not just blather, which you do amply, to try to defeat us. Therefore, we have been subject to many missiles, kidnappings, suicide bombs and political affronts that have significantly undermined our ability to protect ourselves, and this is the opposite of what we were promised when we went on the peace track, from our politicians. Withdrawals didn't make us safer. Negotiations and compromises leading from them led only to more kinappings and demands to compromise further. Our enemies have given absolutely nothing in return for our compromises, not peace, not anything - just more war. Worse, our concessions have given them a better platform from which to rearm and attack us. We are therefore backed into a corner with no room to compromise, and we've drawn the conclusion that concessions weaken us, and not as you claim, save our lives. The terms you want us to accept for a "lasting peace" will not bring peace, but rather based on our experience, will be the equivalent of the gingerbread man who climbs to the nose of the fox to cross the river, being told "trust me" and in the end gets eaten. An ignorant person denies this. You deny this. Thus, you have rocketed yourself to the proud position of being ignorance's poster boy at the very same time that you serve your arrogance well. Truly impressive. I am fully aware, actually fighting in war, what the "consequences of war" are. My job, my home, my friends, my children and family are on the line. I have seen enough in war to know what war really means. I belong to a nation of those who have served in the army and who have sacrificed as much, and many much more, than I have. We realize almost as one now that we must destroy Hizbollah. Hizbollah is part of a the "arrogant" Islamic fundamentalist outlook that if not defeated, will give rise to yet another generation of Arabs who are inurred to the concept that compromise can bring peace. So, defeating Hizbollah, and if necessary Syria and Iran, is the best of our poor options. This is a conclusion that I arrive at without pleasure. We didn't ask for this war. In fact, we showed amply that we were willing to make sacrifices for peace, including the ultimate sacrifices. But what the Arabs have shown us is that whether we pursue peace, or we pursue war, we get the same results - the death of Israelis. Peace under such terms, the ones essentially that you offer, is no peace at all. We have concluded then that our only option is to secure our boundaries, defeat our enemies, and wait until a more sensible generation of enemies arises.
23. Israeli-Arab shahidim sholud not be allowed to vote !!!!

25. ARAB MK: 'I ADVISED PA TO KIDNAP SOLDIER'
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.28.06)
Treason and maliciously endangering IDF soldiers' lives by Arab MKs is allowed in Israel whilst patriotic Jews are punished and jailed and regarded as ENEMIES OF THE STATE. It is urgent that demonstrations are held outside the Knesset and outside Israeli consulates world-wide to protest that Arab MKs are allowed to commit treason - collude with the enemy - repeatedly call for intifada against Israel - and encourage global jihadist religious supremacists to kidnap IDF soldiers. And to protest the persecution and politically-motivated, unjust jailing of Jewish patriots. israelnationalnews.com Arab MK: 'I Advised PA to Kidnap Soldier' Jul 09, '06 / 13 Tammuz 5766 by Hillel Fendel Knesset Member Wasal Taha, corresponding publicly with internet surfers on the Arabic-language IslamOnline site, said he repeatedly advised PA terrorists to battle and kidnap Israeli soldiers. According to a report in Maariv newspaper on Sunday, Taha told surfers on Thursday that he repeatedly advised the PA Arabs to stop shooting and targeting civilians, and to concentrate on IDF targets... http://www.israelnn.com/news.php3?id=106857
26. There will be no peace until....
John ,   Houston, Texas   (07.28.06)
the likes of Hezbollah, Hamas, and Al Queda are destroyed. The muslim fanatic has a one track mind. That is the destruction of Israel and the west, namely the USA. They will Not negotiate in good faith, and history has proven that. Any "peace" that arises out of this only gives them time to lick their wounds, rearm, and get ready to try it again. Since The time of their pedophile prophet, muslims have tried to take over the world every few hundred years, and here again history is repeating itself. But now the threat is far more dangerous with nukes and all. And whether we want to admit it or not the events of 9-11, and now the fight in Lebanon are the opening salvos of WWIII. And trust me....within months, or perhaps a year or two....the practitioners of the so called religion of peace and understanding will have this entire planet at war. There is no "War on Terror", it is a clash of cultures that has been brewing since the last muslim invasions. And the ONLY answer is to stamp out the muslim fanatics completely, totally, and without hesitation.
27. #10 Truth Hurts.
i pray fro Isreal ,   Florida, USA   (07.28.06)
fixed-> When will YOU, YOUR country and ITS leaders ever learn that lasting peace means actually GIVING rather than continually PREACHING HATE AND Advocating the KILLING ANYONE THAT DOESN'T PRAY TO YOUR GOD You seem to only make demands, like capture 3 soldiers and DEMAND the release of ALL prisoners in Isreal? Isreal always ends up GIVING more in ALL of its negotiations. Peace will start when Muslim clerics stop preaching hate and destruction. Religion of peace? I think the exact opposite.
28. War
Kevin ,   Texas   (07.28.06)
I`ve stopped caring about which side wins. I honestly hope you blow each other completely off the face of the planet. That way I don`t have to pay for your country any more. All the bombs you drop, the shells and rockets you fire, all the bullets you shoot and all the jets and helicopters you fly, I was forced to help pay for. You want war, fine. YOU pay for it. It`s time that US politicians start to understand that America exists as more than a life support system for Zionism. A trillion dollars and not one cent repaid. Thanks for nothing.
29. #10 Arrogant and Ignorant?
ACortez ,   Cucamonga, CA USA   (07.28.06)
The only ignorance at this site is idiotic responses such as your own! Have you learned nothing from history? The arabs have been spinning lies to their people much in the same way as the nazi's did before WWII. They wouldn't know the truth if it smacked Allah in the face. Cowardice that you display disgusts me you self hating Jew. Go and live in peace in Iran or Syria. Israel, America stands by your side and if I should be called to wage war against the islamic fascists then know that you will have a warrior not afraid to do the cowardly terrorists what has been done to you. Stand strong and know that by the grace of God these ignorant beasts will be wiped from this earth! God Bless America and Israel
30. #12 Pat
Dan ,   Haifa   (07.28.06)
Dear Pat , thank you for your notes. I try to deal with facts. It's the way to make my view in continuous development. How to explain hezbollah successes: capturing 2 IDF soldiers, bitting new IDF tanks, Killing and destroying unit 51 from golani elite division, downing choopers and standing and launching hundreds rockets to the north despite 18 days of air bombing, ...in the sea??.. Dear Pat limited view is the view that ignore new real facts, it's dogmatic view. We are in war Pat not in soccer game to support Olmert as soccer fans supporting their club. We need to have critical thinking if you have idea about.
