1. Oh good.....
Bott   (07.31.06)
....now hezbolla can move their muniction north into a different civilian population......
2. Oh this is just f***ing ridiculous
Michael Steiner   (07.31.06)
...why not form a frigging committee of inquiry and get Nasralah and Akhmadinejad to sit on it while at it. This war has been handled catastrophically. Southern Lebanon should've been razed to the ground in the first week of fighting. I'm disappointed and disgusted.
3. #1 OH GOOD
BORUCH HOFFINGER ,   BROOKLYN NY   (07.31.06)
You, sadly, are 100% correct. I knew the Israeli goverment would weaken. This could put more soldiers & civilians in danger. It will give Hisbullah more time to re-supply. Once Israel weakens, they might weaken again. This is what happens w/o sufficient Ahavas Yisroel. Watch out—the 9 days! Anyone who joins the IDF should have his/her head examined! Better to sit in jail, get blacklisted by the society, and then—get out! One Genius said: support Israel (that's ok), then make Aliyah. Making Aliyah is diff. & time consuming. A yr or more to become a citizen and vote to change gov't. The religious newcomers might get caught up in the corruption ($ vs. lives). The gov't is very tricky. Look at Kahane. I'm not a Kahanist. I love the TRUTH!
4. response to post 2
Ari   (07.31.06)
It is a people like you who really disgust me! Maybe when your loved ones are in the line of fire then and only then you might have some sense humanity!
5. Israel "independence"!
Ari   (07.31.06)
I guess that shows the entire world how independent Israel is from the US! Israel is following a US order to ceasefire and who knows when the US will order Israel to stop attacks to bow down to US interests (Not Israel's interests of course) Ari
6. temporary ceasefire
Muggi ,   Switzerland   (07.31.06)
For this Goverment is it more importent to look that israel is ok with the foreignmedia then to solve the real problem for israel. let the IDF to do their job until the end. When someone like to live with the terrorist (Kana)then he can be killed. Whats wrong about that?
7. Ceas Fire?
Jorge Banner ,   BsAs, Argentina   (07.31.06)
You're playing Hizbullah's game and allowing them to regroup. And what "investigation"? What's there to "investigage"? Israel is killing her anemies. So what? Every time an Israeli spokesman comes and starts to say how "sorry" you are, you are putting another nail on your own coffin. Your weakness will have ffar reaching, macabre, consequences.
8. Israel stand strong
Jason ,   Wilmington   (07.31.06)
This is a sad mistake on the part of the Israeli government. Whatever threats were made, probably (sadly) by the USA to bring this cease-fire about need to be ignored. Israel will not survive if its government caves in to threats, if it does not have the strength to act and complete its actions. This is the dane-geld, the reward for kidnappers and terrorists. This is appeasement and the cost of appeasement is Israel itself.
9. What? Running out of missles?
Texan ,   TX, USA   (07.31.06)
I am sure it is not for the humanity reason.
10. You're being suckered
Lee ,   Dallas, USA   (07.31.06)
11. Now Hizbullah gonna win....and laugh....poor Israel...
Detlef ,   Germany   (07.31.06)
12. Don't stop!
serurier ,   France   (07.31.06)
It's war ! 80% Lebanese support attack Israel , It's a war ! air strikes must continue until kill all terrorists !
13. Chance for Ninja Turtle to escape
Johnj ,   NZ   (07.31.06)
14. Peace At All Costs
RM ,   USA   (07.31.06)
What is wrong with Olmert and his pack of advisors? Tell me they are just going to kick the can down the road..... Israel has botched an opportunity to quash it's enemies. Instead, she shows her weak underbelly, and her citizens lack of backbone when it comes to defending their children and homeland. The Arab scum eat civility and peace seekers for breakfast. Good Bye Israel! You were a hell of an experiment!
15. Olmert is a disgrace
RA   (07.31.06)
He has let down the Israeli people. I think he worries more about Muslim terrorist lives than his fellow Jews'. This is pathetic.
16. The Israeli People Have Been Betrayed
RA   (07.31.06)
By their own government. What in the world is Olmert thinking? This cannot end well.
17. Good... a hope for peace
Al ,   New York   (07.31.06)
Hope it is permanent and that people of Lebanon and Israel will live in peace from now on. Time for negotiations!!!
18. REWARDING IMMORAL TERRORIST USE of HUMAN SHIELDS
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.31.06)
Multiple past experiences have proven the Islamists lie about the number of civilians wounded and killed. Less Israelis get killed because Israelis fear G-D, care about people, and do not use Israeli civilians as human shields. And, ONE THIRD of Israelis are now living in bomb shelters. Hizbullah ruthlessly uses the civilian population as human shields to protect rocket launching teams - setting up rockets and other weapons in basements of apartment blocks, schools and mosques. Hizbullah shoots from inside mosques, hospitals and schools in south Lebanon. Where is the world's condemnation for these evil tactics??? Why are these terrorist tactics rewarded? Hizbullah's evil goal is the murder of every Jew. On October 22, 2002, Nasrallah told Lebanon's Daily Star: "If the Jews all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them world wide."
19. Injustice! VALIANT IDF ENDANGERED
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (07.31.06)
A report from IMRA: Dr. Aaron Lerner - IMRA: Israel Radio reported on the 01:00 news that the State Department official said in his announcement that the Olmert administration (that is currently in power in Israel) has agreed that the IAF will only act in the case of a target that is actively preparing to launch an attack against Israel. Thus, Israel has not only agreed to grant Hezbollah 48 hours to rearm from Syria but also has graciously agreed that Israeli forces currently operating inside Lebanon will be denied air support - even if air support is a matter of life or death for the IDF ground forces... 20. right on #2
rm ,   texas   (07.31.06)
not just south lebannon, but north, too .. as well as syria and iran .. whack all the dumbass ragheads .. there was no massacre at qana, the hez did it themselves for the p.r.
21. Israel need to fight fire with fire.
rachel ,   usa   (07.31.06)
If they are fighting as guerilla , Israel needs to do the same .....they do it quietly ...no one knows who they are..you need to do the same ...If they are going to send suicide bombers against civilians , you need to do the same (no suicide of course that's too stupid)but they need to feel what we feel . do it just the way they do it quietly and in cells...enough being fair , its not working....They want to fight dirty ....give them what they want....the world doesn't care about the jews........so f...ck them ....
22. I agree with M. Steiner
Alex ,   LA, USA   (07.31.06)
Peretz should take a job at Karmel open market, and Olmert should open a real estate agency (better in USA). Terrible.
23. Stop!
Gus ,   Atlanta, GA, USA   (07.31.06)
Pussyfooting around and get on with the war! The world is going to be "outraged" either way. You might as well administer the bitter medicine in sufficient doses to do the job thoroughly and quickly. So far, this is only emboldening Hezbollah, Syria and Iran.
24. explain this to me
H ,   USA   (07.31.06)
In the pictures that are being broadcast around the world, there is a picture of a Lebanese man attacking the window of a UN post. What is he trying to prove? can someone please explain this form of mentality to me.
25. A good decision made by Israel
mark ,   usa   (07.31.06)
that decision will enable the world to see how Hizballah will react to that decision. It puts pressure on hizballah. the pressure has always been on israel. the world can not blame israel for stopping air strikes for 48 hours. the image of israel can only improve. hizballah becomes the focus!! all eyes are on hizballah
26. A Good decision
mark ,   usa   (07.31.06)
it improves the image of israel that is needed now
27. Where is Mofaz when you need him?

28. What are all the Ynet talking heads going to do
Armchair Critic ,   Ny, US   (07.31.06)
now for the next 48 hours? Damn, nowhere to grandstand and spew hatred! A pox on all of you.
29. no more excuses
Ari ,   ny   (07.31.06)
now the lebanese will have plenty of time to leave and then no right to complain once israel resumes wiping out hizbulla
30. Unbelievable
Avraham   (07.31.06)
ok, my head is spinning so please forgive me if this post is discombobulated. Now Hizbullah will use this to their strategic advantage. No aerial attacks for 48 hours mean that the IDF is going to have to put ALOT of boots on the ground IMMEDIATELY. I wonder if Hizbullah is going to stop attacking for 48 hours. You know, considering that they're using civilians as human shields, position their launch sites in civilian areas, the Leb. PM thanks Hizb for their sacrifices and the Leb army fired on Israeli helicopters today, I would say that they've chosen their stance. To me, that indicates that there should be no forbidden targets in Lebanon, I hate to say. I think Kofi Anan should pay a visit, have a meeting with Siniora and have a 500 pounder delivered to them special delivery. All of this mess over a bunch of terrorists who receive popular support. All the talk of a "measured" response. Sure, we should just not attack ANY hizbullah position since most are in civilian areas. I think the IDF should stage a coup and get rid of this slimy politician who treasonously is now going to put more Israelis in danger. G-d help us.
