91. #87 are you on a Bizzaro World ?
jake ,   USA   (07.31.06)
and do you think that terrorists will buy you a box of chocalate because your country does not have a spine ? try reading something other than the Spanish Propoganda in your press and start THINKING. What the hell is in the water lately around the world ?
92. Iran Stable? According to French Foreign Minister?
lynne wooldridge ,   austin, texas usa   (07.31.06)
Iran stable? The same Iran that wants to destroy Israel and kill all Jews? The same Iran that provides most of the support for the terrorist organization Hezbollah? This guy is crazy! France needs a new foreign minister!
93. Boycott French Products
lynne wooldridge ,   austin, texas usa   (07.31.06)
Spend your money where your values are: boycott french products and avoid France as a travel destination. I went to Paris 4 years ago, but have scratched it from my travel plans for the past few years because of their anti-semitic, anti-Israel stance.
94. France's true colors
Alex ,   Carmiel, Israel   (07.31.06)
I find it appalling that France is praising the most evil terrorist regime on this planet. How low can they sink?
95. frogs again prove they are the world's leaders
Arie   (07.31.06)
in surrendering!
96. Cervates #87
Inyaki ,   Bilbao, Basque   (07.31.06)
Hey you "little" man from southern Spain, why don't you learn some English before making strange statements.Nobody lies more than your Spanish Press. Inyaki, from Bilbao, the eternal capital of the Basques.
97. French haters?
BM ,   Paris, France   (07.31.06)
Reading the comments of this article is scary. You would never find such comments ("I'd love to see Paris burning", etc.) on an equivalent French Web site (say "Le Monde"). And it's soooo funny to see people advising French Jews to move to Israel. Wonder why they don't do so... I personally condemn French FM's comments on Iran (this guy is a goofy guy anyway), but please don't be as stupid as him!
98. #65, Cyril
Mark ,   USA   (07.31.06)
Cyril, it is you who should in fact go back to school. The Iran-Iraq war was started when Iraq invaded Iran. Iraq subsequently initiated the use of chemical weapons (which caused the death of over 100,000 Iranians). All told, 1,000,000 Iranians were killed by Iraq. Not sure if they still stone people there or not, but in 2002 Iraq was a very western secular government which now has more in common with the Taliban led Afghanistan than its former self. This is a direct result of US policy. In the 1950's, Iran democratically elected a leader who was subsequently overthrown by the CIA (because he wanted to nationalize oil). My point being, when democracy was flourishing in Iran, it was brutally repressed by the US. If you don't like Iran today, you have only the US/Europe to blame. And that's the irony, people like you don't know the full story and what you do know is spoon fed to you by the media. Why don't you lay blame where it belongs, at the feet of Americans, and ask that they change their policy in the Middle East? Because you're ignorant, that's why.
99. Some ask not to judge French by Philippe Douste-Blazy, but..
Evgeniy ,   NYC, US   (07.31.06)
...nations deserve their leaders. Especially in democratic countries, you've chose him, now eat it. And again France gave up to bad guys right after the fight has began. France+Russia+Iran+Syria+North Korea+Cuba+Venezuela=big psycho friends
100. Those prostitutes.
Evgeniy ,   NYC, US   (07.31.06)
And those prostitutes want to guard Israel-Lebanon border with another cheap organization like UNAI (United Nations Against Israel)? They peacefully watch katushas flying in Israel, but will be in arms when Israel will try to retaliate.
101. Response to #97 French FM Stupid
lynne ,   austin, texas usa   (07.31.06)
I agree with you. Though the French FM is stupid, that is no reason to want to see any violence toward France or the French people. No way! I am boycotting french products and not visiting France because of the consistent anti-semitic and anti-Israel comments made by French leaders. But, I hope that those are not the feelings of most French people. (My mother was french and French was her first language, so I used to feel very connected to France.) For the record, anyone who isn't really scared by Iran's leaders has his head in the sand. #97, thanks for being the voice of reason here. If we disagree, let's keep our comments civil and polite.
102. true colors
Shmuley ,   NYC   (07.31.06)
It's not the first time France is showing their true colors. They did it with Iraq, now Iran. It's no surprise, but their country will suffer, it is already and it will continue. Apperently they dont notice things until too late, so worry not, they do this to themselves. the arabs are becoming a majority outside of the middle east too.
103. To BM: I proudly hate France.
Mark ,   USA   (08.01.06)
I hope the Muslims riot and destroy all of France. Adieu Paris BonJour Arabia
104. #101 It is not easy to be civil. Why?
Mark ,   USA   (08.01.06)
They endorse Iran who wants to wipe out Israel. There can be no room for politeness and respect. Should the Jews have been polite to Hitler? Should they have respected Hitler. I think not.
105. Thanks to French Foreign Minister
Reza SHirazi ,   Virginia, USA   (08.01.06)
most Media and governments are US and Israeli Poppets, at least one country doesn't buy into these propeganda made in Tel. Aviv
106. skewed and twisted report
james ,   USA   (08.01.06)
I just saw the reported story on the tv. The French foreign minister said that Iran could help stabilize the situation vis-a-vis Israel and Lebanon by getting hezbollah's attention. I did not hear him say anything about Iran being a "great country" i shouldn't be surprised to see ynetnews jumping on the anti-French bandwagon. Just another story warped to fit the France-hating States of America.
107. well, lets just be logical bout this
Marko ,   Croatia   (08.01.06)
in the past ten years, how many civilians were killed by Iran? and how many by Israel? how many foreign interventions? who's occupying foreign territory? who's actually flaunting UN resolutions? (according to UN and not Fox news insinuations) who's destabilising mid-east here? Racism goes both ways you know, and hate begets hate. What goes around comes around. Being a jew myself it pains me to see that it is the human lot never to learn from history and always repeat the same old mistakes. Iranians are pissed off but people don't get pissed off for nothing. Just like the jews are pissed off because of Hitler and WWII. No one listened to them then just like no one is listening to moslems now. Have a mind of your own, people. Look for facts and not opinions. Don't take for granted what the media tells you - Ahmenidijad didnt say Israel should be wiped off the map. Even the BBC and the rest of the media circus were forced to quietly rescind that as faulty translation but you didnt notice that, did you? Neither did he say that holocaust didnt happen. Get the facts. Open your eyes.
108. Marko ???????????
Jake ,   USA   (08.01.06)
Marko "Even the BBC and the rest of the media circus were forced to quietly rescind that as faulty translation but you didnt notice that, did you? Neither did he say that holocaust didnt happen. Get the facts. Open your eyes" I've got to ask you one question ...Do you have radios or televisions yet in Croatia that recieve clear signals, because I heard it and read it on this side of the planet just the way it was said the first time.....no retractions. I also heard that the holocaust did not happen from the BBC. Was that recinded also ?
109. France
Brice ,   France/USA   (08.01.06)
Iran is fascist. Israel is fascist. The US is becoming fascist. Where is the world going to when people only think at wars and killing each others? Irak is a mess. Libanon is a mess. Israel and the Palestinian territories are a mess. The US is becoming a mess also.
110. re:
denis ,   us   (08.01.06)
thats a nice thing the french do
111. # 105 Sorry Reza...
Yoel   (08.01.06)
I've been tough in my previous comments towards the french FM, and even towards french people in general... But I realize my talkback was not complete. I met several iranians, syrians, lebanese people. All of them were great and nice persons. Some of them are even on the list of my best friends. It's also the case for frenchies with whom I keep in contact. BUT speaking about people heading those countries and criticizing them is something different. THEY are leading us to war even if we (as individuals) desire peace. You want it or not, it doesn't make any difference: * Douste Blazy spoke in the name of France as a french elected representative. That's why France can be blamed; and also because I didn't hear any official declaration from other french politicians saying he wasn't right. * When Ahmadinedjad speaks about wiping Israel from the Earth surface, he does it as an iranian representative. Also while he provides weapons to Hezb... That's why Iran can be blamed as an entire nation., because you elected him. Also because I didn't hear many iranian voices criticizing his declarations. Iraq was also a great civilization, and writing was even created there. Unfortunately, it was headed by a dictator, and we know what happened since then. But we can't live in the past, we have to deal with the present, and actual life! NOW, those countries are declining for many reasons, but the most important is the islamic fundamentalism. Look at what Talibans did in Afghanistan... And I hope this image will speak to you by itself
112. Wow, megaphone doing well
David S. ,   Israel   (08.01.06)
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-2289232,00.html Aren't you ashamed of yourself ? What's perpetrated in our name is a disgrace we will pay for the next two generations http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,3-2289232,00.html
113. FranceandIran
John yorks ,   Syracuse, NY USA   (08.01.06)
Dear Israeli people: I wish you would stop your war, for the simple reason that you have already lost. Not only that, this war only confirms the rise of a three sided world, with US block/EuroBlock/Eastblock. The policy makers in Washington know this, and now they are trting to save face. Did you see Hugo chavez go to Russia and make deals for jet fighter planes? What about when he went to Iran and Vietnam to make trade deals. How about the way Turkey and Iraq have been meeting to discuss economics and security? What about the fact Russia took Hezzbollah and Hamas off their terror list? How about Condi being told to stay away from lebanon? There is more, but so much more that I can't remember it all. It is over. Please don't make it any worse.
114. Response
