Chris ,   Ind, USA   (08.01.06)
Depeche Mode is French for we're wussies!
32. DEPECHE MODE
booga ,   DC,USA   (08.01.06)
All USA Bands should stay out of Israel anyway. Turn the entire Isreali/muslim into radioactive glass
33. Saving the world
Anthony ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.01.06)
Nothing worse than a sanctimonious aging pop group trying to save the world. Soon we'll have to send in U2 and Bonehead in to ask all parties to stop fighting. These pop stars have the Peter Pan syndrome - they have never (had to) grown up
34. snore
Jim ,   New York   (08.01.06)
who cares about depeche mode?
35. Give me a break.
Glenn ,   Hewlett, USA   (08.01.06)
Is this really news?? What does Mel Gibson think about all this?
36. Good golly
Dan ,   Ottawa Canada   (08.01.06)
Looks like Jews definetly have a pursecution complex. Just because someone disagrees with your methods, doesn't make them anti-Semite! There's nothing wrong with disagreeing with how Israel decides to pursue this war, just liike there is nothing wrong with any of you disagreeing with my point of view! Get over it!
37. Dave's comment
John ,   Elko, NV   (08.01.06)
Dave does not represent the opinions of most Americans. The vast majority of us enthusiastically support Israel and her right of self defense and if necessary we are ready to provide more aid.
38. Depeche
Conan the Republican ,   San DIego, CA   (08.01.06)
NOWHERE in the article does it say WHY the "tech team" didn't want to come. I'll bet it had something to do with their "objection" to Israel defending itself, huh? Friggin' rock-ass wuss-bunnies. Forgot so soon about your OWN 9-11 and 52 dead in bus and subway bombings, eh? Piss on you.
39. #5 get over it!
Dmodegirl ,   AZ USA   (08.01.06)
Why do 3 more people need to say the same their manager is paid to say? Do you not understand the job of a manager? They are not going to hold a press conference for 1 concert. When Sept 11 happened none of them individually spoke out while on concert yet they did through their manager since Dave's family lives in New York. Get over it already nothing is going to change...
40. DM cancellation
Rob ,   Davis, CA, USA   (08.01.06)
As a friend of Israel and Depeche Mode I see it as unfortunate that the concert was cancelled. But without evidence to the contrary I believe the band's statement and they are still the best in the world.
41. #13 - Is that with interest?
Kevin ,   Texas   (08.01.06)
They haven`t paid a cent back out of over $1 trillion. That`s a whole lot of interest. Let`s just cut off all aid for a decade or so and see how things turn out. That French diplomat will probably be right after all.
42. What's the "technical team"...
Jay ,   USA   (08.01.06)
I would say not the light and sound guys.. but the dudes who run the sequencing, samplers, midi, and backing audio tracks- Their light show is probably automated. No backile techs.. no show..
43. Depeche mode
Lori ,   US   (08.01.06)
80swerelame1stime posts: is depeche that big in israel? they sure aren't in the US anymore. except for a few old people stuck in the 80's. That is why they sold out every show they did in the US. Not popular? okay whatever. I believe their safety and the safety of everyone else attending is more valuable then a concert.
44. Old. Right.
chandlerm ,   Cincinnati, OH, USA   (08.01.06)
[sarcasm]Yeah. Those "old" people from the 80s. It was 20 damn years ago! That's so old![/sarcasm]
45. To #10: Oppression Much?
Chandlerm ,   Cincinnati, OH, USA   (08.01.06)
Israel != Judaism. Religion does not and should not have a right to oppression.
46. We survived the holocaust, we will survive this....
LEVI ,   TEL AVIV   (08.01.06)
its a pitty but i can understand them. i dont believe its antisemitsm. for an outsider it can be scarry. on tv chanels it looks like all the country is in bomb shelters im sure we'll see them in the future

49. Wonder if "Personal Jesus" was on the Tel Aviv set list?
Stu ,   Dallas, USA   (08.01.06)
hmm...
50. Depeche Mode Rocks
j   (08.01.06)
Depeche Mode is an amazing band and always put on a great show. I don't think there is anything political about their decision. Its a safety concern. I guess you can be pissed off about that for whatever reason, but I don't see what the huge deal is. Hopefully they will come back to rock out for Israel.
51. YES! YES! AND YES!!!!!
Yahoo ,   Hungary   (08.01.06)
GOOOOOD decision!!! THX DM that you don't go the most aggressive country in the WORLD!!!!!
52. I understand
Marc ,   NY USA   (08.01.06)
Why would any non Jew want to subject himself to the trials and tribulations of the Jewish people?
53. Happy Birthday #8
hanina ,   usa   (08.01.06)
Happy birthday to David P, We should all pile in the car and wish you a happy birthday but the IDF are not here to escort us over the 17.
54. to #37: Put YOUR money where your mouth is!
Dave ,   New York   (08.01.06)
If Americans in Elko, Nevada choose Tel Aviv over America, let them send their OWN money. Don’t extort my American earnings for Likud atrocities. http://www.ifamericansknew.org http://wrmea.org/us_aid_to_israel/index.htm
55. Are you joking?
Stuart ,   California   (08.01.06)
The most aggressive country in the world? Did you miss the fact that Hezbollah attacked Israel FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER? Israel is doing the same thing any Democratic nation would do if they were attacked.
56. Anti-Semite????
SuperSean ,   USA   (08.01.06)
Jenny- If someone does not agree wit hthe policies of Israel they are an anti-semite?
57. This is NO surprise!
Allan Merkin ,   Los Angeles, USA   (08.01.06)
It just goes to show you, that lead singer and his poser bandmates can dress in black and adopt tough-looking stances and refuse to smile and pretend to be the bad boys all they want, when they're surrounded by his PR people in a comfortable studio, but when the going gets tough or they get an ingrown toenail or something, they're hiding under their beds! What a bunch of big nancy boys! Typical! I knew it all along! Where's your "Jesus" now, that you like to ridicule, tough boys? Send some REAL men out to perform for Israeli fans!
58. #28 - Southern CA is more a war zone than Tel Aviv
Sharon H. ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.01.06)
They didn't schedule to perform in the Golan Heights or the Ashkelon depths.
59. Re:Are you joking
Tim ,   Toronto   (08.01.06)
...Hezbollah attacked Israel FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER?... Ha ha ha. I think Hezbollah attacked Israel because Israel refuses to implement various UN resolutions.
60. Anti Semites? NOT!!
Kathy ,   USA   (08.01.06)
Get a clue, cancelling a concert does not make anyone anti semitic! No one wants to travel to Israel with all of the unrest going on, which is not out fault!
