Kevin is right. The Muslims have been trying to conquer Europe since the 7th century and being defeated and expelled then and since has never ceased to rankle them. But now the Europeans have let their guard down and no longer have the stomach or moral fortitude to resist this pernicious onslaught. Heaven help them.

I detect some anti european bias here. Some days ago a fanatic killed a person in a jewish center, and injured others in Seattle, USA. Now some idiotic teen ager scribble swastikas on jewish owned shops in Rome. Nobody talked about antisemitism in the US, or US-abia in the fist case. In the second many commenters are talking about coming pogroms! C'mon people, this act in Rome was vicious, and in fact HAS BEEN CONDEMNED BY THE MAYOR (who, by the way, was in the sinagogue to show his support for Israel when the two soldiers were kidnapped), but only ignorant and prejudiced people can suggest that there is any condonance of antisemitism in Italy.

Why should all Jews make aliyah? There are those of us in *all* countries that will stand with the Jews, and feel that they make a positive contribution to our society! Respectfully, I believe Jews that remain in the US are safer than those that "return" to Israel... and we are better off for their presence here. Why should Jews choose separation and isolation - unnecessary division along religious lines- over acceptance into a broader society that can and will protect, respect, and honor them? Both you, and we, the non Jews, are better if we stand together, in the same place! (Not that I am not pulling for Israel in all their struggles- I just value the presence of Jews here in the United States, and would hate to see them leave!)

...I would not hesitate if I felt that the environment was deteriorating for my people: I would go straight to the nearest Israeli consulate or Sochnut office and would start mya aliyah process. Every Jew in the Diaspora, wherever it lives, should learn and keep in mind that Israel is the sole bailer of our freedom as Jews, as human beings and as citizens of the countries we live in. I thank G-D every day for being born and alive after 1948, for we are no longer orphans, depending only on the panicz goodwill. Tanja, it is precisely because "Muslims don't have any power here at all" that you should be concerned. Muslims in the U.S. have adapted to society and are an important and productive party of our society. It is because they don't have power, or perceive that they don't have power, that is the threat to European society.

Despite having repulsed Muslim conquest several hundred years ago, much of Europe is now being overrun with no way out. France, for example, given current trends, will have such a high native-born Muslim population in 50 years that they could vote France an Islamic republic. The current rash of anti-semitic incidents in France has not been perpetrated by ethnic Frenchmen, but by Muslims in France. Interestingly enough, the attacker in the Seattle attacks is from PAKISTAN. Certainly a train wreck of a country, but what have Jews done to Pakistan? Nothing, of course. America, however, remains much safer for Jews than Europe. Sure, we have lots of Muslims here, but they are not as large a percentage of the population and, despite their rabbit-like birth rate wherever they are, will be balanced out by our one saving grace - the growing Hispanic population.

How easy it is to shout that Europe is anti-semitic...how about opening your eyes and seeing how Israel's bullying and aggressive actions contribute to the the disdain the rest of the world feels for it. STOP playing the victim role... you are clearly the aggressors.

1) The majority of those killed- the women and children are innocent victims as they have not "invited" anyone into their govt or homes just as most israelis have not "invited" the extreme right wingers to wage war on their behalf. based on your argument, israeli civilians have also "invited" the few bombs that have actually caused injuries. and surely, the kidnapped soldiers (who are still alive) "invited" being abducted as part of their service to its arab minority-oppressing govt. 2) It's very easy to say that there were bombs in those apartment buildings, but how about some PROOF? It's very easy to claim that every building the israelis strike housed weapons and hezbollah. the FACT is that HUNDREDS ARE DYING in their homes and we are in the 3RD WEEK OF THIS WAR. so excuse me if I'm more concerned about that then some offensive graffiti - I expect more substantive coverage from my national media

I think that European embarassment over treatment of Jews and the great 1932-1945 showdown has, in a way, disarmed most Europeans in the face of the new Isamic Invasion. Any action against Islamic immigrants may look like a NEO-anti-Semetic movement. It is like the "Political Correctness" disease that is now peaking in the USA. A new Sobieski would be decried as a neo-Nazi Islam hater. I am visiting France and Italy for long stays in the next 12 months. It will be a "Goodbye" visit. I suspect Europe will never be the same. Orange, France has become an Islamic town as have so have many others. Soon over 30% of young Frenchmen will be Islamic. I have to add that I am so happy to have our illegal Immigrants and not the ones Europeans have opened their doors to. Our illegal Immigrants from Mexico are the hardest workers I have ever met. Plus, they are all good Catholics. Though I am not a Catholic, I welcome and admire them. Their children will learn English, join our military, make good lives and remain great Catholics. I love them. I would never swap our problems for yours in Europe.

The context of my note above assumed comment #41. I am guessing that these attacks agains Jewish shops was not by any rebirth of German-Italian Anti-Semitism. It most likely was by Islamic toughs...and, I don't think that there is much stomach left in Europe to deal with these new terrorists who are so deeply embedded in their towns and suburbs. Paris (I do love it so...) will be the last place to notice that the rest of the country has changed. It will be too late. Islamic Law will protect them though, I am sure.
