do you feel the same about the violence in iraq ? where the killing is mostly done by people from the same country or religion the united states does make mistakes but to brutilize your own to prove it? i dont understand
62. Enforce UN resolution 1559
Bobo ,   Vancouver, Canada   (08.03.06)
If the UN would have actually enforced UN resolution 1559, this war would not be happening right now. How about those folks at UNIFIL; good job people; how many more years do you need to complete your temporary mission?!?!?! If Hezbollah and Hamas threw away all of their weapons today, there would be peace in that region; if Israel threw away all of their weapons, there would be another holocaust. If Israel did not exist, Hezbollah and Hamas would be at war with each other. How many of those so-called innocent lives in Lebanon were really Hamas fighters? How many of the “civilian deaths” were “human shields”? How many of the “civilian deaths were family members of Hezbollah terrorists that stayed there for propaganda purposes? Hezbollah likes to dress as civilians and many of them hide among civilians; they also love to attack Israel from positions located next to civilian locations; given their cowardly tactics, there is no way that Israel can fight back without civilian deaths. Those cowards love to use human shields; they love to have dead civilians; so long as it helps them with their propaganda. In every western country, there are pathetic, limp-dick punks whose only purpose in life is to stir up trouble; this crap is in no way a reflection on the Italian people.
63. No. 48 For What?
Nouri ,   New York, NY   (08.03.06)
You are correcting in assuming the ease with which one can accuse Europeans of espousing anti-semitic comments. After all, Europe has been the locus of anti-semitism for over a thousand years. And I, for one, do not expect it to stop now or ever. As to the actions of Israel and the purported "disdain the rest of the world feels for it" one must distinguish between anti-semitism and criticism of Israel. Did the Jews in Rome do anything directly to the Lebanese, Hezbollah, etc..? I think not. Should I denounce the Anglican church because of the actions of the British government? Again the answer would be no. Next time STOP and think before you puke out a comment.
64. Re #48 - Mary in London
yossi ,   Chicago, USA   (08.03.06)
If we're looking to assign blame, I think that it is worthwhile to consider that: 1. Had Europe not been so violently anti-Semitic over the last century, it is unlikely that Jews from Europe would have believed it necessary for Jews to have their own state. Zionism was a reaction to anti-Semitism, particularly the Dreyfus Affair. 2. The same Europeans who are now lining up to criticize Jews for protecting themselves from the same sort of people who were quite recently rioting in France (remember that?) and plowing into buildings in the US (oh, yes) are the children and grandchildren of those same people who 65 years ago were either indifferent to the suffering of the Jews in Europe or actively promoting it. Lastly, had it not been for the British Empire's method of turning both ends against the middle wherever they went (cf. Hindus and Muslims in India), it's quite likely that we'd be seeing a happier story in what was once the British Mandate of Palestine, since historically, Jews and Muslims have gotten along swimmingly.
65. Remember Silvio Berlusconi's Words
Pat ,   USA   (08.03.06)
After the USA was attacked on 9-11? He blamed Islam and said they should be puished. Of course he was forced to retract his words by muslims living in Italy. It is these same arab muslims who are causing the trouble in Italy today, not the real Italians

67. Europe's Anti-Semitism
Mike ,   Washington, DC   (08.03.06)
Can't Italians admit that the muslims in their country are responsible for this? Still chasing phantom Nazis is easier I suppose...in the short term...
68. Jewish Shops in Rome defaced
Jp ,   richmond, ME   (08.03.06)
Yes, non Jews around the world are sick of the crap. What do you mean neo-Fascist? The only neo-fascists I know of are in America and Israel. How pathetic to see some Jews have become that which they were victim of. JP
69. Semites
JP ,   Richmond, ME   (08.03.06)
From Miriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary: Semite: a member of any number of peoples of ancient southwestern Asia including the Akkadians, Phoenicians, Hebrews, and ARABS. There you go, ARABS are semites too. So, this nonsense about anti-semitism when used only about Jews is incorrect. When they use anti-semitism they mean anti-Jewish. Why not just say that? JP
70. Peace on Earth
Santa ,   North Pole, Arctic   (08.03.06)
The war needs to be escalated so that billions of people can die. At least 5 billion people need to take a dirt nap.
71. Hatred Abroad
Carole Ward ,   Santa Fe   (08.03.06)
Is it hatred when Jews speak of exterminating Palestinians? Is it hatred when your wholly owned American media glorify the massacre of innocent Lebanese? oh right -- there are no innocent Lebanese.... only Jews matter
72. you didn't expect this ?
(08.03.06)
i gratulate olmert and Israel for winning a new millions of haters around the world ... the Jews aound the world will be victims for olmert not for facists or this sh... they are alwyas say to calm you ... it's the hate or the re action for what you did .... open your eyes and your minds and stert thinking right maybe you can have peace one day .
73. Europe - you're on your own this time.
Julie ,   Philadelphia, PA   (08.03.06)
Our children, fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers will not be sacrificed this time Europe. You've had your warnings. London and Madrid are only the beginning. Which country will fall first? Most on this side of the pond believe it will be England. Sweden? Norway? You've pushed us away too many times in the post Cold-war era. We're just ignorant fundamentalists to you. Most of us will be laughing in about 20 years at your misery. Rejoicing probably. Who knows? Shari'a could be a lot of fun?! We hate you as much as you hate us. As always, we will protect our Jewish brothers and sisters to the mortal end.

75. Never Again
Ricky Bobby ,   Taledega, USA   (08.03.06)
Welcome to the start "again" of the European great "Never Again"! WWII ended in 1944 in Europe, I guess it only took them 63 years to forget about the showers and ovens that was the shame of the Holocaust. Once again Europe is turning its back on Jews and blaming them for Europes entire miserable existance. Eurostan for sure has problems: Outrageous taxes, rabid unemployment and a total loss of European history and identity. Just to name a few. Is this because of Jews? No! It is because of the disease that is Islamofacism. It is just easier to blame the Jews. Jews don't blow up buses and kill politicians as a means to heaven. Islolamo's do, early and often. That is why Europe will once agian persecute the Jews. Like Winston Churchill said, " An appeaser is one who feeds the crocodile - hoping it will eat him last." The croc the EU is now feeding will not be full until you pray to Allah or you are dead. Any Questions?
76. Denial ain't just a river...
Ken ,   Oak Ridge, TN USA   (08.03.06)
True as it is that european Muslims do not officially influence your governments, it is also true that Muslims have brought curtailment of free speech, increased crime rates and alterations of customary dress and behavior in many European nations. If you doubt my statement consider the Mohammed cartoon incident: The violent demonstrations staged by supposedly outraged Muslims "persuaded" editors to actually apologize for printing them! I can't recall any similar reaction to either Jewish or Christian displeasure at offences to their beliefs. Or this; there are, according to local news outlets, whole sections of Swedish and German cities that local emergency services are afraid to enter because of interference and outright violence by Muslim residents. Additionally, it was announced just today that thongs and topless sunbathing have been banned from French beaches. Since the French have permitted toplessness for more than forty years it seems to me more than coincidental that this practice, offensive to Muslims, has suddenly become offensive enough to be banned. Dominance of a society by one group does not require direct control by that group. For evidence, and I mean no offense by this comment, ask your grandparents about the Nazis, espicially the brownlshirts and Hitler Youth, and their influence on the culture of the period.
77. Lunacy
Doubting Thomas ,   Oak Ridge, TN USA   (08.03.06)
Oh oh oh!! The Apocolypse is nigh! We're DOOMED!! Do you believe Gore's "documentary" too?
78. Wrong
Ken ,   Oak Ridge, TN USA   (08.03.06)
What's wrong with Europeans is also, and to a somewhat lesser extent, what's wrong with too many Americans: they don't want to believe that the jihad started by Mohammed is still going on. You can't really blame them, the Europeans I mean, their defense needs have been in our hands for nearly sixty years and they've forgotten their own violent history. That history includes the first five or six hundred hears of the Muslim invasion. As to us... I don't know how to explain the unwillingness of so many to see what is so plain to the rest of us but I like to believe that there is still hope both here and in Western Europe. After all, they're not all French.
79. Flying
Ken ,   Oak Ridge, TN USA   (08.03.06)
Hear, hear my friend, but I suspect that you are more likely to find an Arab than a French Muslim in Israel. I wholeheartedly wish all Israelis the best possible outcome in the current battles and in battles to come. May your enemies stand, fight and die...
80. Europe's welcome...
Smoky ,   San Leandro, CA USA   (08.03.06)
Dude, Mellow out a skosh and, uh, learn to spell! their, not thier insist, not incest, (Which, by the way, means sex with one's blood relatives.) Indoculated? Dude, that's not even a real word, at least not in my dictionary! I think you mean indoctrinated or incarcerated or executed. French, not french (The same goes for Jews, Iran, America and...) Vietnamese, not vietnesse I agree: it is far easiet to stand against evil from the beginning than from the end. You have a good understanding of the situation, I believe, and need only polish your delivery. Good luck -
81. Anti Semites Need to be Eliminated
Mark ,   Jacksonville, USA   (08.03.06)
The hatred of Jews needs to come to an end. There is one thing the Anti Semites do not grasp; Americans, like me, and there are allot of us, will not allow Europeans, Americans, and/or Muslims to slaughter Jews. Racial cleansing will not be allowed to succeed, and this is one old soldier who will speak up, AND stand up, to stop it.
82. Maura - we don't have any problems with our Muslims
Tanja ,   Germany   (08.03.06)
The reason why they don't have any political power is that they don't have a German passport. If they wanted to have a German passport they could apply for one after they have lived here for some time and are integrated into German society. But that would mean, they would lose some rights in Turkey - inheriting a house f.ex. - so they normally don't apply for a German passport. Otherwise they have all the rights we have. They don't feel weak and suppressed. You can't compare them to the crazy Hezbollah/Hamas lot you have in the Mid-East. During the Mohammed caricature riots they were demonstrating AGAINST violence. The very vast majority of them are peaceful people. And you can be sure, that if our peaceful Moslems suddenly turn into the mad suicide-bomber-type of maniacs, our government will do something about it. And hey, they don't have a German passport, so we can always kick them out ;-)
83. swastikas
Gene ,   Richmond, USA   (08.03.06)
These neo-nazi islamists are part and parcel of the "blame all my problems on somebody else" crowd, an illness which is pervasive in all countries and societies around the world. They refuse to take responsibility for their own situation and have to take it out on the most talented, creative and intelligent people on the planet. It's a twisted jealousy rooted in laziness and a view of the world brought on by a societal depressive state of mind. What is on the inside, so expressed on the outside. No wonder all these islamist women are dressed in black. They are severely, severely, depressed. So would you be if you were that repressed.
84. Israel Supporter
Paul ,   Boston, MA   (08.03.06)
I support Israel. I wear a soccer shirt with a star of david and am not jewish. This is the 1930s all over again.
85. Huh, yourself...

86. re Hatred abroad
rasq ,   wylie   (08.03.06)
The only people talking about extermanation are Hamas and Hezbollah. Hamas has it in their charter. Your antisemite attitude is aglow
87. Fact facing
Diogenes   (08.03.06)
Unlike the so-called "Palestinians" the Jews have no need to play victim as a role. Muslims, Christains, Pagans, Agnostics and Atheists have used the Jews as outlets for their racism for more than two thousand years. Were you willing to read history rather than propoganda you might realize that it has been the Arab and Muslim nations surrounding Israel that have used Palestine as a dumping ground for their own unwanted countrymen. The Israelis have willingly accepted any and all who are willing to live in peace with them. It is the Islamofacists who oppress the people whom they claim to represent. If you are truly interested in moral decay I suggest that you examine the history of Western Europe.
88. Balance and Innocence
Ken ,   Oak Ridge, TN USA   (08.03.06)
A couple of questions: How do you define "civilian"? What makes you think that the main stream media ever had any sense of relative importance? Israel has, in the past six years, withdrawn from Lebanon, Gaza and the Wast Bank in hopes that Muslim promises for peace for land would be honored. The killings and kidnappings of Israeli soldiers and civilians have been the result rather than peace. I presume that your are a believer in proportionality in warfare: that is, if one party bombs a hotel and kills fifty people then the offended party is entitled to bomb one building and kill fifty in revenge. A kind of tit for tat policy. If this is the case then I ask you to consider that this policy is a recipe for endless, low level warfare. How is that superior to the idea of victory by one side and defeat by the other followed by a negotiated peace enforced by the victor?
89. Freeedom
Morty ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.03.06)
Just continue kowtowing to the Islamofacists in Europe and watch what happens. Or for that matter examine the history of Turkey, for example.
90. Bring peace
Joe Liberman ,   London   (08.03.06)
