I don't know what world Dan #17 lives in and what he reads, the Hizbullah chose to use a technique used by the Japanese in WW2, a surprise attack on a country in it's own territory, the US considered this a war. What truely bothers me is that Israel is blamed for responding to this act the way any reasonable country would but is perceived as the aggressor and although the world whines and cries about the loss of Lebanese civilians who are unfortunately caught in the middle, no where is the outcry for Israeli civilains who are intentionally bombed by the Hizbullah, another technique used in WW2 in China. If I remember correctly, there was no real outcry then by the world when innocent Chinese were killed. What has happened to the world that finally there is concern for civilians victims but blame is placed on country who was the initial victim. The logic would be blaming the US for responding to Pearl Harbor. Lest it be forgotten, the US did not pull any punches with the Japanese, we used the worst weapons we had. I do not see Israel going to this extreme which shows me that there is a lot more humanity going on than was shown in WW2. I wonder how long Israel can avoid using higher level tactics given the intentional killing of civilians. War is a terrible state of affairs and it should be, otherwise how can it end? How many times have your leaders started wars that were supposed to be the solution to Israel's problem? Do I have to list them or can we all agree that these wars have solved nothing? The answer is simple. There will be no peace for Israel until there is justice for the Palestinian people. The whole of the West Bank and Gaza just be given to the Palestinians for their own contiguous country. Shebaa Farms must be returned to the Lebanese. The Holan Heights must be returned to the Syrians eventually with an armed UN force have complete control of the area for 15 to 25 years until that time. The Israelis would be wise to acknowledge that there were wrongs done to the original inhabitants of pre-1948 Palestine. Just as other countries have paid restitution for the crimes of the Holocuast, so too should Israel for what it did in 1948. Israel should try as best as possible to improve the economic conditions in the newly created state of Palestine so that both countries economies were integrated. Prosperity for all will insure peace for Israel. Step back and think what is going to happen if Israel doesn't change. The Christian West will not fight a worldwide war against Islam for the sake of Israel. George Bush will not be President forever.
