Senior Saudi sheikh: Hizbullah – party of Satan    Associated Press
1. A hope among the Saudis?
It may be too good to be true. If it were true, however, it would be nice to finally see a more or less sane Arab country in the middle east. As the old saying goes: Lets hope for peace, but be ready for war.
RA   (08.05.06)
2. THE WAHHABIS
My first talk back was not published by your paper.........I don't know why.............but I am sure you know the reason. The Wahhabis fatwa holds no water even in Saudia itself. They are used to this fatwas which are released by remnants of Wahhabis in Saudia.Ask the people on the street.........discreetly of course and measure the praise for Hizbollah.
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.05.06)
3. Wahhabis are founded by Britian
Their leader Wahhab was chosen fit as Muslim Leader in the Ottoman Era just because of their claim that Only Kureyshis could be khalifah. Then Ottoman Empiror was caliph of Muslims and it was an imperialistic policy of Britain to push such a person forward who claims only caliphs can be from Kureyshis, and so Ottomans cannot be and Britain could seperate Ottomans from rest of muslim world. You know the rest, What you live in today! In fact Wahhabis are not accepted as sunnis at all. There are four Sects of sunnis historically and it is not possible to add any more sects, especially by British Empire. No muslim will stand up and make such public disclosures during a war even if they do not like the group. So Isrealis may like his thoughts but rest of muslim will only believe he is servant of satan himself.

4. Party of satan
Well it's good to hear that they are speaking against hezbollah. It is also strange that this sheik is the one who as a former teacher of bin laden is the one who is doing it.
Connie ,   VA, USA   (08.05.06)
5. to #4
What's so strange about that guy being a former teacher of bin laden? They both are terrorists. Such fatwas only cause hatred between people of the same religion. This is a matter of knowing your enemy is not the problem, but knowing who your friend is. Extremely important to realize that bin laden and wahabbis were founded and supported by the U.S. and Britain. So let that guy say whatever he wants, everyone knows who the real terrorists are. As for Hezbollah - the party of God - they do not need his useless support.
George ,   Lebanon   (08.05.06)
6. THE WAHHABIS
No need to dwell into the confused lot of Wahhabis.......................even the local Saudis know the irrational fatwas and state of confusion that exists in this dying movement.
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.05.06)
7. Saudis are terrorists too
A saudi sunni terrorist calling a hezbollah shi'ite a terrorist is like the caldron calling the kettle black. They are both terrorist. One is a sunni terrorist, the other a shi'ite terrorist, and both will have to be eliminated in the long run in our war on terrorism. Period.
Ari   (08.05.06)
8. ZIPIDI DOO DAH..as if any one counts on the Saudis..
Muslims all around the world are being targeted and starving..but these dudes are driving Porches and Hummers... Justice will prevail...and everyone will get his punishment for all the misery of the poor.PERIOD That's what GOD have promised..and he certainly delivers on his promises. Embrace for a wrath never seen B4..
observer   (08.05.06)
9. Nice to See, But?
How much sway does this guy really have? Saudi is a pretty inflexible government, that doesn't poses great, or even good human rights history. Careful of a knife in the back. Israel, words of wisdom, NEVER, trust any of your neighbours, I truly do hope that you can live in peace but you will never know peace until heaven. There will always be enemies within your neighbours, sure some high up guy wants peace too, but a knife in your back is there favourite weapon, i'd take any comment or sign of peace with a grain of salt. And watch all borders. Egypt will join, watch out for Pakistan. Syria won't join until most others do. But you do have friends. This battle will continue till the end of time. My heart and prayers are with the Israeli's, your courage, perserverance, and common sense is astounding. But I guess you've been putting up with this sh!t, for eternity, but you do have friends here in Canada. I believe you are the sword of God, and a candle in the darkness. God Bless!!

10. common cause
Making common cause with any of these fundamentalist maniacs, whatever their stripe, is as disgusting as the "Peace" movement making common cause with them, as it has. The only thing to be grateful here is the knowledge that the Saudis aren't going to join some alliance. I don't expect the Egyptians will, either. Or the Jordanians. Iran is threatening all of them, and jerks like some of our guests here are happy about it. Here is what I wish on them: life in a place like Iran.
BS meter ,   Canada   (08.05.06)
11. #3 , absolutely right, but....
I think you're absolutely right, wahabists don't represent the major part of Muslims around the world. This imam may have been Bin Laden's teacher, but this is related to a period while he was a "good person" according to american standards, fighting only against russians... for freedom. It could have been a relevant speech if it had been said by Al Zawahiri. But the latter appealed to join to Hezb fighters. Wahabees don't represent le hole sunni world, but they fund so many mosques around the world, that it could be unfair saying they have no influence. to #2: as a jew, I don't even think I would be allowed to enter Saudi Arabia. So, don't expect me to ask anything to people there .-( for some opinions I don't care about..
Yoel   (08.05.06)
12. Saudis are mainly Sunnis Hiz is Shiite
Iraq shows that they don't really like each other. Saudis just have to agree with Israel as they don't want Iranian influence on their doorstep
(08.05.06)
13. Sheikh's website didn't say so.
I browesed his website and I didn't see anything about this fatwa.

14. this BULLOCKS

15. Senior Saudi Shaikh fatwa - party of satan
How come that only that saudi fatwa is praised by the jews which goes against the Hizbullah and , in default, supports the israeli view-point. If saudis and their fatwas are good, their hundreds of fatwas against the state of israel and the jewish bellicosity are good as well. Why muslims world over are suffering by and large because they are not united. Their enemies have succceeded in dividing the muslims on so many counts thus weakening their strength. Today's Iraq is a glaring example of 'divide and rule' where the invaders have successfully saved their skins by piting muslims against muslims - shias against sunnis. Anyway, I am not for blood-shed of innocent people, whether they are lebanese from beirut or israelis from Haifa. I hope and pray to God Almighty that wisdom will prevail on both sides bringing an end to the war in the middle east.
Haqpasand ,   London, UK   (08.05.06)
16. they just now figure that out?
i think the designation obviously extends to the rest of the islamic fundamentalists, whatever their slant.

17. the wahabbies
most of israelians are jews some are dorzi. hizbollah is fighting to destroy israel. wahabbies will do any thing to destroy jews. they are not with you and they are not with hizbollah.
muslim ,   saudi arabia   (08.05.06)
18. wow ..
All the same does it matters to jews .. whatever the fatwa is given by a saudi .. Jews think that islam is not a GOD's religion and Prophet Muhammed Pbuh was a false prophet. Jews dont even believe in Jesus and they always killed all the prophets .. I dont have any hate for jews , but when jews will respect others , they will get the respect in return . If they think that they are God choosen peoples , its good for them. they should stop thinking that they are superior to other races and they can do anything to others like occupying lands and killing civilians. If they have suffered in WW 2 its not the fault of any one except hitler . so now they should stop feeling like a sufferer race

19. AlQaeda Supporting Israel in this war
This article says" "Al-Hawali is considered an extreme religious figure in Saudi Arabia. In the past Osama Bin Laden was among his students" WOW....israel is getting the support of islamic extremists..those who kill innocent civilians in mosques and in WTC and London subways!! I guess we can say now on which side israel is!

24. sk actually agrees with someone from Arabia (#17)
Wahabbist Sunnis are as anti-Semitic, anti-Israel, and anti-Western as the Shiite ulema who rule Iran. The fact is that Arabia rightly views Iran as an existential threat. Incidentally, those who thing the W's are irrelevant are either insincere or extremely ignorant. The W's are responsible for the vast majority of Sunni-funded "learning," just as Iran is responsible for the vast majority of Shiite-funded "learning."

25. Faisal (#18) wows us all
Faisal, the real whiners are Muslims. Wah, Wah, Wah. In this case, you have the nerve to bring up the deicide claim (Jews killing Jesus). But what can one expect? The Arabs, led by the then Mufti of Jerusalem, colluded with Hitler. Today they read Mein Kampf in great numbers, and they are true believers, just as you have shown in your response. Incidentally, why are you in India instead of Pakistan? One country isn't enough for you?
sk ,   USA   (08.05.06)
26. it sounds desperate
it really sounds desperate for israelis to be happy about fatwa from wahabbi sheik, the same who probally prays evreynight for Iben Ladin, i think as war goes on and the IDF has achieved nothing. some are getting so desperate to seek help from anyone, just for ur information wahhabis are the responsable of the crime of 9/11, would be right for you to side with them?. would we american reconsider our friendship with u? i think after this war we should ask ourself ,why do we pay billion of$us a year, as militarly aid , to achieve nothing , ur army is a failure, so u need help from wahabbis, it is funy...

27. Bin Laden and Nasrallah in a cage match
Bin Laden and Nasrallah and all their followers should all be put into a big cage where they can fight each other for the top terrorist title. Any survivors can be awarded the grand prize of martyrdom.

29. Lies, lies and more lies!
For those who understand Arab culture, Koranic law considered non-Muslim infidels worth converting to Islam or killing. If you have studied Islamic history, you will recognize the term: "al-Hudaibiya Treaty" and its meaning to Muslims. To all of them "Hudaibiya" is a well-understood code-word which, in brief, means "Kiss the hand of your enemy until you can cut it off." That is what Muhammed did to the Jews of the Quraish Tribe (alternate spelling: Koreish or Quraiza) who lived in Mecca. To win over the Jews, he adopted many Jewish customs. But, the Jews in Mecca refused to accept any changes in Judaism. The Muslims and Muhammed negotiated with them to pray at the Ka'aba Stone, a black monolith in Mecca. Because they were only 1400 men, they offered a peace treaty, the "Hudaibiya Treaty", suspending war for 10 years. Three years later, when Mohammed was stronger with a 10,000 man army, he set out to liberate Mecca and exterminated the Jewish tribe, selling the women they didn't kidnap into slavery. Because the Jews rejected Muhammed's Islam, there are many hostile denunciations of Jews in the Koran and bitter attacks upon the Jewish tradition, which have affected the beliefs of religious Muslims today. Muhammed established forever the right and even obligation of every Muslim to make agreements with non-Muslims when necessary (but only for 10 years as in the "Hudaibiya Treaty") and then break these agreements when stronger so Islam could advance. Neither honor, nor ethics, nor obligations are allowed to stand in the way of establishing domination of Islam across the entire planet.

30. Ali, not exactly like we asked them to
Your comment is pretty manipulative. If there are two sides and Al Qaeida is on one side and HA on the other, where does the rest of the world stand, yourself included?
