1. Financial incentives to Lebanese government might work.
Proud Grandpa ,   www.KingArik.net   (08.06.06)
carrot and stick. only sticks won't solve nothing.
2. We must attack the root of the problem
Zionist ,   Israel   (08.06.06)
Forget Hizballah, and even Syria. Another kilometer of security buffer here or there will not stop katyusha rockets from falling on Israeli civilians. Even driving Hizballah to the Litani will not stop the flow of arms into Lebanon. After all, Israel can only keep the entire country of Lebanon under siege for so long before the UN Security Council decides to intervene. Israel should withdraw its troops from Lebanon leaving Hizballah no choice but to agree to a ceasefire. By doing this, Israel will be able to regroup, rearm and prepare for the larger, more urgent upcoming war with Iran. For too long the international community's attention has been diverted from Iran's genocidal plans. Now, since the spotlight has been on Iran's direct connection to terror and their desire to destabilize the region and take on the free world, Israel, the U.S., and maybe even Britain will have enough legitimacy to take care of Ahmadinejad and his sicko clergy once and for all. May Israel, the Jewish people, and every peace-loving person in the world find the moral clarity to succeed in saving the world from Islamic tyranny.
3. hizbolla have an address
stan ,   israel   (08.06.06)
The strength of the terrorists comes from their disconnection from "innocent civilians" but they actually DO come from somewhere. If each one of their home towns and villages are razed on the basis that they hide, and support them, the untouchables will be touchable. And the world will still not like us.
4. Bush Will Only Hurt
Dave Levi ,   Burbank. USA   (08.06.06)
Puleeeeze, give me a break, an American address by Bush, or Condi or maybe Hillary? What nonsense by this pundit (of which there are too many). Bush is a lame duck who cannot even get a victory in Iraq after 3 years of warfare, 140,000 troops, hundreds of thousands of support personnel, and 200,000 plus Iraqi soldiers and police. I mean, 20,000 young Jihadists (without Katys) are defeating the Coaltion daily. Americans are getting tired too. So what can one address do, where other efforts have failed (UN, Saudi Arabia, etc.). No, an answer is for Israel to increase the pressure on Lebanon substantially. If rockets land in Haifa, then take out Tyre, I mean all of it..level the city along with Sidon, and creep closer to downtown beautiful Beirut, once the Jewell of the Med, and now nothing but fake ornaments. Israel has the means, but so far, not the will. Why not send a few dozen Popeye rockets into Lebanon...an eye for an eye so to speak. Give Allah what he deserves.
5. You leave out the best solution
Ibrahim ,   S. Arabia   (08.06.06)
Israel CAN and SHOULD form a secure buffer zone within Lebanon. How? It has the resources to bomb everything standing within that buffer zone, so that everything that moves can be seen. It can burn every bush in that area, every tree, so that complete visibility and constant monitoring is achieved.
6. vietnam was "the great victory at communistic regime"
schulz ,   bad germany   (08.06.06)
I remember me, Vietnam was the great victory at communistic regime. In Vietnam every people, children, oldest, eldest, all people was in war. At USA a small number of technical personal. But the crying were to hear at the schools in East Germany. Daily, weekly, we were sample old glasses to children in Vietnam. And we did knew the waves, weath, rockets, napalm, red, white. Or we did knew the paths at dschungel. We saw the pictures. Daily, weekly. We didnt understand relation, but the teacher were talking about good news or bad news. War was bad, but victory was good.
7. To #2
Mike ,   Boston   (08.07.06)
I completely agree with you. The Lebanese people want to get rid of Hizbollah as much as you do but unfortunately with bombs falling all over Lebanon they will not accept the ceasefire. Hizbullah doesn't want one because he knows he will have to answer to the Lebanese as to the destrcution of the country. Israel is barely on the borders I think a complete withdrawal beyond the blue line and international force in Shabbar would leave no excuse for hizbollah to throw at the Lebanese community. This may break the cycle of violence
8. Nonsense
Avraham   (08.07.06)
This article was worse than random ravings of a blogger on meds. YES, the situation is complex. YES, the solution is hard to see. YES, preferably everybody could live in peace. WHAT the hell is this "American address" he's talking about? An American force in Leb? They tried that once and ran after their barracks got blown up. the ANSWER is for Israel not to waver and for the military to do what it HAS to, despite what the POLITICIANS want. I've said this before - if the pols act traitorously, stage a coup. If the military leaders are behind it it will work, but, oh, I almost forgot - they're all politcal appointees chosen for their willingness to sell out the Medina. Hmm, Revolution from above or Revolution from below...that's the question. Medinat Yisrael had better wake up and think about it's survival instead of how fat the pockets of these politicians wondering how big of a bankroll they gain from selling out the country.
9. First.Israel must use smart bombs
e.m ,   s.f   (08.07.06)
Second. Israel must go all the way to south of Beirut. Use the air force bombardment them strongly then open all the way for ground troop kill all the Hezbollah guerilla or disarm them and mobilize the Christian with the tanks and air plain and let them will stand against Sryians,I have no doubt US and European will support the Christian army or together with daruz and sonny, It is the only way Israel can prevent another terrorists groups will taka over of Lebanon. Lebanon could be next American and Israel alleys in future. Finish the Job
10. Dear #1
Riv ,   Jerusalem/Denver   (08.07.06)
Financial incentives? Please. The US not to mention the world have poured tens of billions of dollars into the PA. Worse we have lied for them, whitewashed and sanitized them to where the world pities them. Worse still our CIA trained their very large military to the point they could have fought terror easily. So did other nations to the tune of more billions. Where did that take us Granpa? What have the Palestinians taken from all which we have given them from land to our Jewish blood to concession after concession to training their military to to giving them the chance to vote at the polls. What did we get back, Hamas by overwhelming numbers and Abbas who neither lacks the will nor attempted to pull his people out of terrorism mode to moving toward real sustainable democracy and freedom. Nothing works. Now on to Iraq. Granpa, the biggest best army on the planet trained Iraqi's to sustain themselves against terror and what do we see. We gave them too our time, our blood our money, young lives of soldiers all with the sincere belief they too could pull themselves from the throws of terror. They have not and they will not. As for Lebanon. Same thing. We are going to build up their armies and re-build their torn cities and on and on and on. In the end here is the bottom line. Democracy must be earned. One must make scarifies onto themselves in the quest for freedom. Arab/Muslim leaders must take the steps to cleanse themselves of hateful propaganda and of terror and they must have balls of steal to do it even if they take a bullet. Just like the late Anwar Sadat. Until these leaders stop playing to the streets which they themselves are answerable for the hate amongst their people and take bold steps toward real freedom all the carrots and billions of dollars and blood shed will not amount to a hill of beans. I would like to remind you that the leaders of Lebanon knew Hezbollah was building a terror state within their state and did nothing. Exactly like the people of Polland and Germany did nothing while my people were being slaughtered. Indeed the world is looking on once again calling for a cease fire so they do not have to face Syria and Iran who vows to obliterate Israel and in time, you too. The arab/Muslim world does not need more money but balls and truth spoken to their people from their own lips. They need this direction for as long as it takes. This is how every society from time immemorial have been set free from the ravages of hell to freedom. The west is nothing more then the co-dependants of the drunks. Time we stop running to buy them more booze but give them a big kick in the ass before we take matters in our own hands. PERIOD. Lastly, for the US and France to be co-authors of a crazy resolution which will not fix the problem but in time make it worse,,,,, is complete mania at this time during the war on terror. Granpa I implore you to watch the video Obsession just to remind you of the history everyone has failed to learn one thing from. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2967276362246845611&q The handwriting is on the wall. Now we need a world who quickly are willing to read it. Thank you.

14. Its time to stop playing with the Hezbollah.
Mike ,   Israel   (08.07.06)
Attack syria this will surley hurt or even had a deadly blow to the Hezbollah. It would take the IDF 3 to 4 days to wipe out the syrian forces. You will elimanate the supply to the Hezbullah then let see them talking about how they can last 2 years. Its time to fight a real war.

Iranian did not mobilized Hezbollah for the shaba farm, beside shaba farm is part of Syria, Islam believes in destruction of Jewish State that is why Iranian have supplied the Hezbollah with 12000 Rackets. The only solution Israel must finish the Hezbollah job faster.
16. It is Clear and Simple
BDIA ,   Ottawa   (08.07.06)
How much explanations does Israel need. You will get peace if you fall these simples 7 steps that lebanese government put forward. 1. Immediate stop to all attacks on lebanon. 2. Exchange of hostages. 3. Return of all the people that were displaced to their homes in the south immediatly after. 4. Complete withdrawl of the IDF from the occupied Shebaa teritory. 5. The map to all the mines that Israel planted in her 22 year occupation of the south. 6. Israel must and will honour lebanese skies, water and land. 7. Israeli withdrawal from the Lebanese territories occupied since July 12. You see very simple for peace I see a major prospect for peace between lebanon and Israel. So don't co0me back and say hizzbullah wont disarm. They will do so, if Israel for once hounours a U.N. resolution instead og going around trying to implement others. Implement that once that were set for you and dont worry lebanese are very intilliogent ppl and they will manage on their own. Just do your part and we will do ours.

that really worked with Hitler... wasn't that the argument back then? ... don't aggravate them because then they'll just be angrier? ... exactly the same thing that is being argued now with Islamic militants... there is only one solution... destroy them!
18. Dayan and Vietnam-Olmet and bush
DE Teodoru ,   ny usa   (08.07.06)
Talking to Dayan after a helicopter trip he admitted total befudlement by the foliage (triple canopy). He asked: what about airpower and defoliation? He was told that the problem is not that but how close to our side we are not allowed to bomb nor to defoliate (ie Parrot's Beak area from where came the Tet Offensive soon afterwards). He then said that if the Americans are so obsessed with the rights of the enemy but not in bombing their Viet allies, they will soon be kicked out. I guess, talking to Westy (who offered me a more elaborate view on Dayan's critique) he chose to speak of military rather than political issues like the enemy's safe rear. But now, in the IDF case, the problem is the opposite. IDF PR people think the international media "dumb goyim" and don't realize we know history. For example, we know about the Israeli terrorism that caused the Hizbollah terrorism and that the IDF is now serving Bush instead of Olmert. As a result, Jewish genius and humanism is trumped by BUSHIT, and it shows. Since Israel is more of a democracy that the new Iraq, the IDF will stop to rethink its Panzer War against all Lebanese. Most of what IAF power destroyed is not needed to supply Hezbollah. It is needed to create a Lebanon that wants no part in Jihad. Now, Olmert --whose son had refused to serve on moral grounds-- is giving meat to the term "Zionazi." It's sad because Olmert least deserves that title, far less that Nasrallah deserves the "Nazi" terror title. But when you want to kill the enemy less than you want to accept casualties, as Dayan noted in Vietnam, you become an object of revenge, not fear. That's how Westy lost Vietnam, making "our" Viets vengeful. The rest was all based on the fact that the World would never allow the US to kill all Viets in order to kill all VC. The case is the same now, so Israel will be stopped by an outraged world. Israel is having to face blame for Bushit not its own.

Hizbollah will not diarm, they cannot be forced to by the International Community and they have no wish to, why would they? They refuse to accept peace, because without war they have no power. I suggest that the SLA be sent in to cleanse Lebanon, once and for all time, of Shiite idiocy, the International Community can then help to protect Lebanons border with Syria, there is no need for a christian lebanon to fear Israel. Inshallah
20. SLA were and will always be traitors
BIDA ,   Ottawa   (08.07.06)
Why would you trust a traitor? The SLA killed their own people and worked for the enemy.

Unfortunately Israel will not finish the Job not even a month from now and at the end Hizbollah will be glorified in all the middle east and the Siniora Government will be very weak to do anything that is if Syria did not decide to invade Lebanon from the North to counterbalance the presence of Israel and protect Syria strategic goal. So what would be the next move : attack syria. Than we will definetly end up with a war like no other involving Syria and Iran. SOme arab regimes will topples to give way to more fundamental regimes. The first to fall would be egypt. The 6-day war will remains a glorious day for Israel and a shameful day for the arabs but these days are over. Just think that It took 3 weeks and bint jbeil is not in Israel hand.
22. Did you know?
John ,   Canada   (08.07.06)
Moshe Dayan lost his eye in south Lebanon. A southern lebanese farmer did it to him.
23. Re: It's Clear and Simple
max smiley ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.07.06)
Yes it is. Every time Israel gives back land, the Arabs attack them from there. Land for Peace doesn't work. Wipe out Hezbollah. And ship all Palestinians to Iran and Syria. Maybe the Pals will contribute to those countries the way they helped out Lebanon and Jordan. Then everyone will be happy.
24. To# 10.You are 100% right,thank for vidio

That you dont know what you are talking about.. What is hizbullah.. do you really know.. ask some of the christian lebanese they will tell you.. and you live in canada... do you take your freedoms for granted.. dismantle hizbullah yesterday.. until its dismantled.. lebanon will be paying the price in the short and long term.. thanks..

Do you know what hizbullah has done to its people before the conflict with Israel.. talk to the christian lebanese in lebanon.... they you will know...
27. and was did we never enough sample: old newspaper
schulz ,   bad germany   (08.07.06)
old newspaper had we never enough, than we tooke old calendar paper and in this way learnd the classes: we are believers in god! because: old calendar papers were the fhirst, what they didnt know! And also the girl from "uncle sampler" could red at her WC, what my familie had read one week or some days before. It was verry interesting for all children, but not for teachers! But in small times asked teachers to take this old calendar papers. And this were nice pictures: How can I life and work ........ as believer into Gods world. God were the unknown person!

Unfortunately Israel will not finish the Job not even a month from now and at the end Hizbollah will be glorified in all the middle east . In the end the Hezbollah will be the hero despite of any kid of defeat from Israel, but i believe this is the exactly strtatigic that Israel wanted for their interest in future, Any way Egypt and Jordan are not going to stay stable in future.

Errol ,   Johannesburg S.A.   (08.07.06)
Hizbolla does have an address. Look at the flags behind him when he speaks on T.V. The Lebanese flag tells us that he speaks on behalf of Lebanon. So Lebanon is responsible. And Lebanon is the address.
30. I agree with 2 & 7
Joe ,   Oman   (08.07.06)
Israel should eliminate all the reasons behind the exsitance of the resistance in Lebanon. Lebanese can not and will not agree to any solution that can favor Israel over any Lebanese party, simply because u guys are the"enemy". Once this is over, the Lebanese wont allow anyone to target Israel from the southen border unless u start first. Let the politicians take over and resolve the issue through diplomatic channels (UN)...and I repeat ...all the outstanding issues with Lebanon......
