1. TALK TO SYRIANS................HOW?
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (08.08.06)
6 months back Bush was asked to establish contacts with the Iranians.........he did not.........now it is the Syrians.....................will he?
2. Best Way to Start Dialogue
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (08.08.06)
Write your message on the side of a bomb, and send it to Damascus via the Stealth purolator, when it's done, ask Tehran if they want to start unilateral dialogue with the US as well.
3. WHERE DO THEY GET OFF?
Keith ,   NY,USA   (08.08.06)
Since when does the Wash. post tell the president of the United States what to do? This president, no matter what all his opponents think, knows what these people think. He know that radical islam and its sponsering countries think. He knows that they want world domination and world islam and that they will sacrifice the lives of their children to get it. So...why in the world should he sit and talk to them. They will say "peace" out of this side of their face and "war" out the other. Get with it Earth!!! This is not a joke! Islam wants total anihalation of America and Israel. We are not going to do what Israel tried in the past with Arafat, Land for Peace. They will only promise and then their actions will be the same Terror. So...until you can see the whole picture for what it is, we are not going to bend to the cries of the world to stop protecting ourselves. Keep up the good work as we will on our side, Zion.
4. hints of what he has to say is this
ken ,   california   (08.08.06)
syria can stop hiz, forget iran, if syria is not siding hiz, there is no way iran can smuggle weapons to hizbollah, for me thou i will sugest we let israel rack them more then we can interven or else it wont teach them a lesson. dont tell me all these people dont know hizbollah was preparing for this a long time.
5. And another thing...
Keith ,   USA   (08.08.06)
America is NOT the Washington Post!!
6. Bush is playing hard get.
HadEnough ,   NYC   (08.08.06)
I am the least supportive of Bush probably of all Amercians. I think he has reckless and irresponsible policies, economically, environmentally, and globally, however, now he is playing his hand smartly as painful as it is for the israelis and lebanese and us here in the US. It is painful for me to agree with him. His goal is for the Syrians and the Iranians to show their hands or fold. Political chitchat and dodging the real issues which the administration is seemingly long aware of, will get us nowhere. He will not threatened into negotiating with thugs through their brutal distraction tactics. The thugs must state their real purpose openly, comply with the resolutions agreed upon in the UN who we all know is powerless to enforce its will without the US and UK.
7. NO, WE DO NOT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS
MARY ,   USA   (08.08.06)
8. It's Israel's gov. push to talk to Syria. Not US medias.
Tunisian   (08.08.06)
9. Bush does not need...
PushBush ,   PA USA   (08.08.06)
anyone to tell him what to do because he talks to Jesus. he will tell him what to do. When Jesus does not tell him what to do, he will have a hidden mic telling him what to do... Well Jesus provided him with such techies, so in this case technically he is talking to Jesus as well. ALLRIGHT Jews here are the truth...inconvenient but true. You are a sacrifical turkey, Bush is feeding you till Jesus comes down to destroy anyone not believing like Gee Dabya Bush II and taking him and his company to heaven... to their credit, Jews are fulfilling historical mission of catalyzing the apocalypse. Ohh save me Lord, take me upon thee...
10. Media interference
Patricia ,   Hawaii, USA   (08.08.06)
Since when does the media establish the policy for the US? The media's job is to report the news not make the news. Given the reports of the media dishonesty of the past few days, obviously the media has a different spin on what their jobs are. I am not a Bush supporter but he is right on this issue. The media has no integrity as far as I am concerned, they just want a good story and have no problems embellishing or being downright dishonest in getting their opinions stated. Opinions should be in the editorial section not the news. The world has changed hasn't it.
11. I don't believe "talking" with Siria or Iran works.
keren ,   sao paulo   (08.08.06)
These countries have ideologies.Evil ideologies, based in hatred , blackmails and terror, but they are ideologies, and they are imune to relating with countries they consider enemies.Rather they want to destroy them( setember 11th World Trade Center; last year's London tub;unstopable criminal assaults on Israel, etc). You see, even a south american's crazy(venezuela's president) is joining them by now, magnifying the threat to further and further. I guess, the only solution would be finishing islamic threat(although ,I think ,Assad is a Christian dictator, right?)by uniting western forces against them as soon as possible, before the threat become more dangerous then already is. They have a "different"language and understanding. There are no points in common with the western and them, out of the hypocrite oil language.
12. The New York Times speaks for nobody
Mark ,   USA   (08.08.06)
Their whole paper is one long propaganda screed criticizing Bush. The heading of this article is misleading when it says "Americans Press Bush"
13. Your reporting is flawed
Mike ,   Portland, OR USA   (08.08.06)
The leadership of Syria, Iran or N.Korea has one objective, to control the hearts, souls and minds of their subjects. The concept that brute force and threats of W(s)MD brings peace and harmony is absurb. The concept that American Media should somehow provide influence or dictate policy of the Bush adminstration is seriously flawed. The mainstream media in America has lost complete touch with the real world and looks to serve only it's elitest and self-rightous empire (much like the aforementioned world leaders of these terrorist states). I challenge you to look to countries that promote have altered their course of destruction with adherence to disarming agreements (Libya) for streamlining talks with the U.S.
14. #9 HEED WHAT YOU SAY!
Keith ,   NY,USA   (08.08.06)
Just because you dont believe in God, or for that matter Jesus, does not mean they dont exist. Those who bless Israel, God will bless them. Those that curse Israel, they will be cursed. So...the day when you and I are standing in front of the Almighty, just remember I told you so.
15. nonsense
Ahmad ,   Damascus, Syria   (08.08.06)
How about Mr. Bush start talking to the syrian people or lebanon people or arabs? How about he start talking not lecturing the arabs about what they should do? How about Mr. Bush start talking to the Israeli goverment that is not listening to anyone in the world, even it's own citizens? How about Mr. Bush open his ears and eyes to the reality of the world and get out of the confined world that he drew to himself? How about Mr. Bush hears the pain of those kids injured on both sides of Lebanon-Isreal borders and stop lecturing them about how peaceful he is and his goverment? How about the media in the US start doing it's job fairly and present both sides of the story? How about..... A dream .... A reality.........A cry for justice from a soul that has suffered enough........ a loud cry .........Nobody is going to help us more than we could....Chao
16. President Bush-hold hands with Assad and sing Gumbayah
Alan ,   SA   (08.08.06)
17. #14..you remember this
PushBush ,   PA USA   (08.08.06)
I believe in God allright. But believe in none that CHOSEN people of a PROMISED land (and their blind pamperers) kill in his name. If God is God of love then I know no nonsense as a land that was promised some 3000 years ago and is worth to kill millions of inhabitants who allready dwelled over there. Love and peace is the promised land...so YOU remember that I told you so when we are standing in front of the Allmighty...
18. New York Times Doesn't Speak for America
Aaron ,   New York, New York   (08.09.06)
The NY Times doesn't speak for America - especially when it comes to issues that involve Israel and the Jewish People. This town has town other - far superior - papers that do a much better job -- The New York Sun and the New York Post.
19. Ahmad, #15
Mike ,   Portland, OR USA   (08.09.06)
Mr. Bush and Americans would love the opportunity to talk with tthe Syrian and Lebanonese people. The individuals of all lands would benefit from face to face respect. However, until your countries can sucessfully produce a spokesman (through a fair and democratic election), regret there is no meeting room to accomodate. As clearly presented in U.S. policies, we will support those that want and need to be supported. For those that want to dictate and rule the world, you can join the ranks of: Mao Ze-Dong, Stalin, Jean Kambanda, Tojo, Pol Pot, Hitler, and soon to be Saddam Hussain.
20. Pushbush back at ya
Keith ,   NY,USA   (08.09.06)
Well if you believe, then you must have a Bible. So...open it up and read the part where God told Israel to kill all of the children of ishmael or else they will suffer bt their hand. So...what do you have to say about God know mister Know it all. God very much believes in Israel destroying their enemy, so dont come back with anymore of your ignorance until you have some real knowledge!!
21. #19 Democracy cant be forced on others
Faisal ,   Hyderabad India   (08.09.06)
Democracy cant be forced on others and its almost in front of all what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan . If here peoples really to want to debate on all these matters it should be first with respect . I know all the same many will start saying too much against me in here. is this the civilised manners? We all are now on international website and thanks to Ynet for posting every one opinions. Being a super power America can really do things for a better solution of this problems.but here Israel should involve all its neighbours including saudi , egpyt ,lebonan, syria and jordan even Iran and from big powers UK, EU,UN, France,Germany ,Russia and China too . If many thinks that talks are waste then i will say war is not solution either , only destruction and blood. People here should think like humans and just by saying that we are a part of civilised nations its not enough , try to have a pratical approach too . dont give excuses here by saying arabs will not understand this , arabs are insane , arabs are cowards .. as many do here ... in real its racism, hate . Nuking syria and iran is not so easy as many say in here , if u talk abt destruction of other nations , that destruction will also comes on u . think abt it .
22. #20 Keith.. Keep talking
PushBush ,   PA USA   (08.09.06)
Let everyone know what kind of a God you believe in, a God who orders to kill every sons of Ishmael. I guess innocence and children are not issues here. As long as God is victorious huh? no wonder Bush is taking so long to end this tragedy on both sides. I guess this is also counted as being caught red handed. Look who preaches about terrorists, it is Mr. Bible slinging Keith. I would call this terror in Biblical order then... Well I guess as strict followers of the verse you so INTELLIGENTLY described, you will face several problems. 1. how can you scientifically decide if someone is son of Ishmael, well you don't wanna kill an innocent bystander? I presume you have Ishmael's DNA samples 2. how do you get everyone in the world to submit to your test to determine they are sons of Ishmael 3. how do you manage big enough lot to carry out the SACRED annihilation. logistics important. this awfully sounds like Nazi's but what the heck... 4. can you nuke the whole ME and say well "God will sort it out if they were not sons of Ishmael" collateral damage is acceptable as long as God is happy, huh? Don't wanna wake you up but for you info; a lot of the things in Bible are metaphors and should not be taken literally, or will make you a warmongering monsterous terrorist LITERALLY...
23. #15 nonsense is accurate subject line
Big Al ,   Chicago U.S.A.   (08.09.06)
We do not care to feel the pain of those willing to strap bombs to their children. All colateral damage in war is regrettable, but this is war. Mr. Bush didn't start it; he entered it. If we weren't concerned about innocent life, this whole thing could end in about 20 min. There is no such thing as innocent life to these jihadist animals.
24. Hide yourself and pray.
Jack ,   France   (08.09.06)
Bush should hide and pray to the end of his days for the lies he's trying to feed us up with. If I was G_D I will leave him in Iraqi desert and punish him to look for mass destruction weapons. Enough lies. When bush goes to TV someone should put his tie in his mouth to prevent him from talking....and the world will be better. PS: Yankees and anti-french please do not bother to reply...specially with your WWII s..t

27. # 25 Hana ,the cheap liar!
keren ,   sao paulo   (08.09.06)
Let's repeat again: Jews didn't steal anything! Israel was determinated to Jews through an international accord in 1948,in order Jews to return to their ancient homeland. After that, you COWARDS arabs atacked Israel many times and YOU LOST the wars !All of them! Why do you, cheap cowards, cry and slander Jews now, huh?
28. #20
Faisal ,   Hyderabad India   (08.09.06)
So already God told this in Bible that israel should kill all Ismaelis (Muslims). May be coz of this only Israel is having nukes to wipe of all muslims by nuking them . and may be coz of this only Iran is being stopped to have nuclear technologies, Ahhh so here some christians and Jews trying to fulfill this what is wrote in Bible . How can u make Creator of this whole universe,a God of war who is having no mercy on other nations. So tell me What is the difference between u and Laden .. you both are religious terrorists that u both want to justify killing all in the name of Religion. No solution will come out for this ME problem , 3 WW has already begun. Too many mads here ... God Bless all and save humanity from these religious freaks ..Amen
