chad ,   usa   (08.11.06)
on the lebanese border when the international force arrives. you don't have to look at the lebanese, they don't have to look at you. no more border disputes, no more crying injustice on either side.
2. SLOB GOVERNMENT
BORUCH HOFFINGER ,   BROOKLYN NY   (08.11.06)
I'M ANGRY! LOST PRECIOUS JEWISH LIVES FOR A COMPROMISE WITH MURDERERS! DROP MOAB BOMBS, THEN GO IN. ISRAEL ALWAYS ENDS UP LOW MAN ON THE TOTEM POLE!
3. Bad Deal
Michael ,   Minneapolis USA   (08.11.06)
I am amazed at how we are walking back from our initial objectives. President Bush and Dr. Rice encouraged a sustainable peace rather than periodic explosions of violence as we have historical experienced. Yet, sidelining Resolution 1559, the disarming of Hezbo, diminishes the value of these stated objectives. Keep in mind, Israel would not be in the situation it now faces had Resolution 1559 been fully enacted. Now we are sweeping it under the carpet. Moreover, we enbolden Hezbo by accepting this proposed ceasefire. Israel cannot afford to reach a "draw" with its adversary in the war on terror. A draw is a victory for Hezbo, who will simply find other means to achieve its sponsors stated goal: the removal of the "Zionist State."
4. This will be a huge victory for Nasrallah
BJL ,   Appleland USA   (08.11.06)
This is sickening. Nasrallah will now achieve mythical status for starting a war with Isarel and walking away with his weapons intact. Stupid Meshugana Politicians, once more, Jewish blood is spilled for NOTHING!
5. UN Resolution
Dee ,   United States   (08.11.06)
My heart goes out to you. Olmert is your Jimmy Carter.
6. hellsbullah the winner!
stude ham ,   outremont, canada   (08.11.06)
the idiots who got everyone into this ugly tragedy have now just handed victory over to hellsbullah. olmert and his cabinet must now pay the price for this grossly negligent incompetence! israel must get rid of this government.

9. Why Olmert's capitulation? Has Israel been defeated, then?
Herut Zion ,   UK   (08.11.06)
If this is (was) The War of Redemption, my heart is broken the Islamic fascists have won. Do we still have time for Teshuvah and beg Hashem to lead Israel to victory, or it's just a matter of time before Israel, G_d forbid, is "erased" by the Mohammeddans, most Jews murdered and the survivors enslaved into dhimmitude? ~~~~~~~~~ From Rabbi Lazer Brody: "Hashem gave Olmert a last chance; rather than giving the Hizbolla a knock-out punch, Olmert stopped the war yesterday. France and the USA are now drawing up appeasement papers, where Olmert and his government will agree to a ceasefire. Not only that, they'll be asked to give strategic Har Dov to the Lebanese; this will certainly whet Syria's appetite to regain the Hermon and the Golan. To add insult to injury, they'll be required to free hundreds of arch-terrorists for a scant promise to get our abducted soldiers back." http://lazerbrody.typepad.com/lazer_beams/2006/08/olmerts_capitul.html
10. Hezbullah terrorists
Sam Shah ,   Oxford England   (08.11.06)
It was interesting to read your news wire with special emphasis on the word “Hezbullah terrorists”. I thought in view of your mindset I would like to share this with you The rules of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS when it comes to the Israeli-Arab conflict. Rule # 1: In the Middle East, it is always the Arabs that attack first, and it's always Israel who defends itself. This is called "Retaliation". Rule # 2: The Arabs, whether Palestinians or Lebanese, are not allowed to kill Israelis. This is called "Terrorism" Rule # 3: Israel has the right to kill Arab civilians; this is called Self-Defense", or these days "Collateral Damage". Rule # 4: When Israel kills too many civilians. The Western world calls forrestraint. This is called the "Reaction of the International Community". Rule # 5: Palestinians and Lebanese do not have the right to capture Israeli military, not even a limited number, not even 1 or 2. This is called "Kidnapping". Rule # 6: Israel has the right to capture as many Palestinians as they want (Palestinians: around 10000 to date, 300 of which are children, Lebanese:1000s to date, being held without trial). There is no limit; there is no need for proof of guilt or trial. This is called "War on Terrorism". Rule # 7: When you say "Hezbollah", always be sure to add "supported by Syria and Iran ". this is called: "Axis of Evil" Rule # 8: When you say "Israel ", never say "supported by the USA , the UK and other European countries", for people (God forbid) might believe this is not an equal conflict. This is called "Helping our Friends". Rule # 9: When it comes to Israel, don't mention the words "occupied territories", "UN resolutions", " Geneva conventions". This could distress the audience and is called "Anti-Semitism". Rule # 10: Israelis speak better English than Arabs. This is why we let them speak out as much as possible, so that they can explain rules 1 through 9. This is called "Neutral Journalism". Rule # 11: If you don't agree with these rules or if you favour the Arab side over the Israeli side, you must be a very dangerous anti-Semite.
11. USA doesnt'care a cent about Israel or Lebanon
Franck ,   paris (France)   (08.11.06)
opportunity of a new middle east, Israel made the plans, USA used it but USA's mafia has its own goals and profits
12. To Sam #10
Rebecca ,   Australia   (08.11.06)
Shame that you are so full of anger, jealousy and hate that you write your rules from a twisted perspective of what is moral and acceptable. It is not moral or acceptable when terrorists blow up civilians on purpose and use their children to do it. Who fill their minds with ficticious crap aimed at enflaming their hate toward the west and Israel and who are more occupied with deflecting their own internal deficiencies and problems onto a nation who have succeeded in growing and prospering. All I can say to you is pray to G-d for your hate to dissolve and for reason to conquer your ignorance.
13. Indecision and waffling.
C.T.Binder ,   USA   (08.11.06)
The current Israeli government through indecision and waffling has allowed Hezbollah and Iran to dictate the fate of Israel. Bebe we need you!
14. NO, NO, NO!!!
rickmd03 ,   Baltimore, USA1   (08.11.06)
What if France and Spain sent two divisions of islamic citizens to "guard" the Lebonese and Israeli border?
15. "Never wound an enemy."
rickmd03 ,   Baltimore, USA   (08.11.06)
Finish the job. This was the mistake of Gulf war I. The US allowed its allies to dictate what constituted victory. The US only wounded Saddam. Later we had to return. Dont make this mistake.
16. pointless war
chaya   (08.11.06)
so what exactly was acomplished by this war other then soilders dying for no reason.
17. What have we gained?
Jacqueline ,   USA   (08.11.06)
What have we gained if we give in to this ceasefire that does not condition hezbollah to be dismantled. I just dont get it. The Govt. of Israel, PM, are weak and foolish. SO many perished for what? FOR WHAT? Shame on this Govt. Hezbollah must be destroyed or Israel will be a hostage becase of weakness on the Politiians side. I call for new elections and the ousting of this govt. if they go along with this regrettable worthless ceasefire with the worst of the worst terrorist groups. Israel is truly being punished.
18. italian soldiers should go ...
davide ,   rome   (08.11.06)
italian soldiers should go ...and not the french or spanish which are mostly arabs descent.
19. This is wrong
Aaron ,   OZ   (08.11.06)
There is no way that this can achieve a lasting peace. Get rid of Olmert, elect Likud, they at least have the fortitude to finish it.
20. # 10
DS ,   USA   (08.11.06)
Why are you in the free world, why don't you go back and live where women are slaves and where people are forced to live in huts and not allowed to better themselves, because they want you to focus their problems on someone else. Its interesting that you live with the infidels but support the Hezbullah.
21. What was this war for, then?
Xavier ,   PA USA   (08.11.06)
I thought that Israel went to war to destroy Hizballah's capabilities to attack Israel. If Hizballah is not disarmed, and if the soldiers are not released unconditionally, what was achieved?? We might as well have exchanged prisoners the very first day!!!
22. a wise rabbi taught me
DACON9   (08.11.06)

For those that stayed home on election day - you got what you deserved. Olmert is Jimmy Carter's twin.
25. DEALING WITH THE DEVIL: The UN Threat to Israel
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.11.06)
Don't let the deaths of the brave IDF soldiers be for nothing! national review online August 07, 2006 Dealing with the Devil A diplomatic disaster in the making. By Anne Bayefsky Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is on the brink of handing President Bush the worst diplomatic disaster of his presidency. She is poised to agree to two United Nations resolutions that will tie the hands of both Israel and the United States in the war on terror and, in particular, inhibit future action on its number one state sponsor — Iran. The catastrophe is the brainchild of Secretary General Kofi Annan, who has effectively turned the United Nations into the political wing of Hezbollah. In the last three weeks, a multi-headed hydra of U.N. actors has risen to defeat Israel on the political battlefield in an unprecedented disregard of the U.N. Charter’s central tenet: the right of self-defense. But how did the U.N. respond to the aggression against the U.N. member state of Israel, which was launched once again from Lebanese territory and which continues to the present hour? By accusing Israel of murder, mass genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, the deliberate attack of children, and racism. U.N. actors have even denied that Hezbollah is a terrorist organization and analogized it to anti-Nazi resistance movements... The Geneva Conventions clearly state that combatants are prohibited from using civilians as human shields, but if they do so, the presence of civilians does not render the area immune from military operations. Israeli soldiers and civilians are paying with their lives daily as a consequence of Israel’s efforts to avoid disproportionate action — a dramatic exercise of restraint taken in order to reduce Lebanese civilian casualties... The United Nations seeks to: (1) protect Hezbollah from further Israeli attacks; (2) produce a political win for Hezbollah by giving them the territorial prize of the Shebaa Farms ; and (3) increase U.N. presence, oversight, and control of the Arab-Israeli conflict. It calls for renewed involvement of UNIFIL, the U.N. troops that stood and watched Hezbollah rearm and plan its deadly assault on a U.N. member state for the last six years. Such an international force is to be authorized under the first-ever Chapter VII resolution — a legally binding resolution that can be implemented through sanctions or the use of force — in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. In other words, Secretary Rice has approved of a U.N.-authorized and monitored force that has its sights set on Israel too, coupled with a claim that Israel is currently engaged in “offensive” operations. The very U.N. that accuses Israel of murder and heinous violations of international law is now to be charged with judging compliance with a legally binding instrument purporting to define the terms and conditions of Israel’s self-defense... There will be only one sure result of this move — the empowerment of terrorists whose ultimate target is the United States and all democratic values. Secretary Rice’s belief that there is a serious convergence between the United Nations agenda and American foreign-policy needs in the age of terrorism is a profound error in judgment for which democratic societies everywhere will be forced to pay a heavy price. http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ODQyMGNlYWM5NzIzZGFhOTNlZDAxMmM2YTRkOWRjYzE=
26. Olmert is a disgrace to Israel and Jews everywhere
Jenny   (08.11.06)
If Hizbollah is not destroyed then this war was absolutely unnecessary. I supported this war ONLY b/c I assumed Hezbollah was going to be destroyed or at the very least disarmed. So what has Olmert accomplished? Over 100 dead Israelis, thousands wounded, millions of dollars worth of damage to Israeli property. All for what? For a French army to be sitting on their border prob more impotent than UNFIL?
27. No negotiations
Frank ,   USA   (08.11.06)
Get rid of Hezbullah!!
28. Olmert...Olmert...what are you doing?

30. Olmert
Pnina ,   Modiin   (08.11.06)
Olmert, Livne and Peretz should resign the same day our troops withdraw and leave us to the mercy of 10,000 French babysitters. Shame on them for playing with our children' s lives and futures. Shame on them for their cowardly retreat.
