UN troops to monitor peace in southern Lebanon    Yitzhak Benhorin
31. WHAT ABOUT THE SOLDIERS?
If Israel doesn't accomplish its set-out goals, then Hizbullah, and the entire Arab world, has won! God have mercy on us the next go-around. We just don't learn our lesson.
Doron ,   LA, USA   (08.12.06)
32. #19 IDF is not weak
and Hezbollah is not primitive guerilla army. It is well trained commandos, having the most advanced arms of the kind they need and use. They are using perfectly engineered fortification, they use civilians as human shields and it is terribly difficult for regular army to fight them. Still if you read news carefully you see that IDF performs the best. Compare with similar wars: Americans in Iraq, Russians in Chechnya – you will see that IDF performs much better. Whatever you say and try to convince yourself that Hezbollah is winning you see day by day they are pressed out of South Lebanon and be sure to prepare your victory declarations when they will be totally out. Probably at this time you will be finally happy having already nothing to loose
Haim ,   Israel   (08.12.06)
33. Hello, 'IDF is weak' folks! Don't you know...
...that IDF CHOSE to restrain itself, so that civilian casualties would be kept as low as possible (and I am talking about the human shields cowardly kept by Hizballah)? I repeat the screaming obviety, one that you deliberately prefer to ignore: had IDF decided otherwise, a few days of carpet bombing would have erased every village and town south of the Litani, there would be nothing but a pile of rubble! Unlike Hizballah&Co, Israel always chooses life over death, morality over cowardice and terror! You should keep THIS in mind, for if Israel is pushed hard and far enough, another kind of reply might be in the way!
Flavio ,   Sao Paulo, Brazil   (08.12.06)
34. # 29 Michael
My opinion is that if you ,in Israel, do not send the muslims- who hate you and disturb your lives- to their own muslims countries,in 25-30 years the same disaster that waits for Europe would happen in Israel-G'od forbid!
keren ,   sao paulo   (08.12.06)
35. UN RESOLUTION: BOTH SIDES WILL IGNORE ANYWAY
Dont worry about the UN talkfest - we all know that Hez will do something to violate it and it will be all on again ( if it was ever off)
Ertok   (08.12.06)
36. OK so we lost the war...
Now we have to figure out what went wrong and how we are going to defeat the rockets the next time they start falling. We have to learn how to win an asymetric war. The UN cease fire will give us a badly needed breathing space to re-group. We will win the next time.
Arthur ,   Australia   (08.12.06)
37. OLMERT, YOU IDIOT, BRING BACK THE SOLDIERS!
Yonatan ,   Los Angeles   (08.12.06)
38. UN resolution
This whole resolution is a joke. The Lebanese army is Hezbullah. They have already taken over Lebanon. Olmert is a total deasaster. The lebanese couldn't dissarm Hezbullah during the past six years. France is in the pockets of Iran. UN forces sitting there did nothin during the same time. What can they do now? What's the difference. Israel will have to fight again very soon.
jj ,   montreal canada   (08.12.06)
39. To the MORONS at the Top
Looking back, I thought you couldn't negociate with terriosts? Or was someone mis-quoted?
Bob ,   Mn,USA   (08.12.06)
40. Olmert good diplomat but horrible decision-maker
1) What was Olmert (and Peretz) thinking by delaying the inevitable ground incursion until the inevitable cease-fire agreement was reached??? 2) This agreement better not provide for any "prisoner exchange," but rather require an unconditional return of the kidnapped soldiers.
Ilya ,   Astoria, NY, USA   (08.12.06)
41. As a true friend of Israel . . .
I mourn for the civilians who died in Israel and the brave soldiers who gave their lives for their country. Oh, they deserved such better leaders. Sleazy lawyers, post zionists like Olmert and Peres. Weakness, vacilation, putting soldiers lives at risk. Shame. If they had any honor, they would trade places with the hostages Nasrallah holds. I'd rather get those boys back. Olmert is the absolute worse.
David Oberlander ,   Little Rock, Ar   (08.12.06)
42. A question and a comment?
Can somebody tell me is Olmert an Israeli? I can't tell. Thanks. My comment: glad you have disgraced Israel, Ehud. Now on to pressing matters like winning the Nobel Prize and giving away The West Bank. After so many dead, you'll have to burnish your peacnik credentials. Peretz and Peres too!
David Oberlander ,   Little Rock, Ar   (08.12.06)
43. The Wrong Way
Israel should not accept any ceasefire agreement until Hezbullah is fully destroyed. I can't seem to understand why the US is pushing a ceasefire when they are fighting a war in Iraq aganst terrorists. I am behind the war, but the US needs to support any nation that stands up aganst the global threat of terroism.
Noah ,   USA   (08.12.06)
44. who is teh winner
let me give you a hint , it is not OLMERT OR PERETZ???? IT IS HIZBALLAH
Abu lila ,   lifta   (08.12.06)
45. What about kidnapped soldiers!?!?!?!@?!@$?$#?%$
(08.12.06)
46. Resolution
I have never seen Israel look so weak, although I mean that criticism at your government not your brave soldiers. I fear for your future. What have all of the enemies seen and learned?
Joe ,   USA   (08.12.06)
47. Olmert, Peretz are COWARDS!
They just handed Hezbollah a victory
Sean ,   Israel   (08.12.06)
48. The israeli soldiers died in vain
Bush betrayed Israel once again!!!
Mark ,   usa   (08.12.06)
49. RESIGN NOW OLMERT
You imbecile, you coward. You have left Hizbullah intact and able to proclaim victory, and have made Israel look weak to the entire world. You are a disgrace to Israel and the Jewish people. You must go NOW.
Jerry ,   NYC, USA   (08.12.06)
50. Fool!
Olmert's proposal to the Knesset must not be approved. Where are the provisions for the kidnapped soldiers. Where are reparations for the damage done by Hezbollah, who has been left unchecked by the Lebanese government? Where is Lebanon's accountability? Where is Hezbollah's disarmament? Children of Yisrael, press on and do not stop until all has been made right.
The White Shadow   (08.12.06)
51. Olmert's Folly = Nasrallah's Triumph
I never get tired of always being right.
Jay ,   Los Angeles   (08.12.06)
52. Peace is Impossible
Jews have historically used the sword to exclude all others from sharing the Promised Land with them. They are small in number. Muslims have historically used the sword to include all others into their one and only umma. They are large in number. The two groups are mirror images of each other. With such completely opposite objectives how can peace be possible unless one exterminates the other completely?
Complete Unknown   (08.12.06)
53. Olmert Must Go
Over a hundred dead, hundreds of thousands of refugees, kidnapped soldiers abandoned for what??? Olmert must go! Kadima must go! They led the country to disaster they must resign or be removed. Time for a non-confidence vote. Olmert, Peres, Livni, Peretz, just go. You failed the country. You failed the army. Go.
Avi ,   Haifa   (08.12.06)
54. What about our kidnapped soldiers?
I guess somehow in all of this we forgot about the stipulation for a ceasefire to include the return of the 2 IDF soldiers kidnapped by Hizballah....
Bazza ,   USA   (08.12.06)
55. Hey Proud Grandpa, Cynical Anti-Semite that you
are, your biased commentary I hear every day on regular media coverage. Olmert is a man who stands fast, sir. He will not be put into a corner by your ilk-hizbullah lover. You are obviously not aware of the imortance of this confrontation by hizbullah and it's inevitable consequences for terror, worldwide. You are no Israeli, you are just another arab creep.
Pro-Israel ,   From US   (08.12.06)
56. The UN wants this baby to call it's own.
That's fine, send the peacekeepers, who will be kidnapped and killed, or sniped out by Syrian and Iranian thugs, which will be blamed on Israel. Same old song and dance. The truth is either way, Israel wins this, hands down.
Mary   (08.12.06)
57. #25 there will NEVER be peace...
as long as Hizbullah is in Lebanon. Do you honestly think Iran and Syria are going to sit by and allow Hizbullah to be dismantled? I'm for peace too, but a REAL peace. This reminds me of the poor patient who finally submits himself to the surgeon's knife, and loses blood on the operating table to the point of being almost near death, and why? Because the surgeon can't decide whether or not to just take out "some" of the CANCER or ALL of IT! So that poor patient goes through all that woe for nothing because when he wakes up in recovery, he finds that the surgeon left some of the cancer in there instead of declaring war on it, and removing it all. Granted some healthy cells would die in that surgery, but better, in the long run, for a few good cells to die to be rid of the whole cancer. This ceasefire means Hizbullah STAYS and all this loss of life so far was for nothing. THAT's the real tragedy.

58. Wrong Wrong Wrong
The UN is wrong, The US is wrong It will never work. Israels enemies have been delivered to you. Now is the time to finish the job. This is the last call. Never Never Never quit till you have crushed them
Slim ,   Nashville USA   (08.12.06)
59. UN troops to monitor peace in southern Lebanon
Have you sacrificed/abandoned the two captured soldiers? Shame if you have done this!
Michael ,   Caldwell, USA   (08.12.06)
60. And When Moslems Attack Again?
Will Israel defend herself again with 15,000 blue berries in between?
