61. Time U turn
Hasan ,   KSA   (08.12.06)
Problem is that Israelies doesn't realise that their time is making U turn and they have no chance to keep in Middle-East They are making the same trial to get different result
62. Las UNSC Resolution
Mario Schteinman ,   Neuquen, Argentina   (08.12.06)
Paragraph 6 of the resolution does not make any reference to financial and humanitarian assistenceto damages and victims of Hizbollah¨s actions aganst israelis ald their property in Israel and elsewhere, which are not negligible at all !!! On the other hand, the Resolution does not state any clear obligation for the IMMEDIATE and INCONDITIONAL release of ALL kidnaped soldiers now in the hands of Hezballah or their proxies, wether in Iran or Siria or elsewhere. Israel should not cease any military action in Lebanon without the previous release of the kidnaped soldiers in israeli territory ( THREE: Two by Hezballah and one by Hamas ... ) by orders given from IRAN and their transmission chain, SIRIA, to their subcontractors on their "war" with Israel, Hizballah and Hamas. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
63. Who is loses?
Wim ,   Netherlands   (08.12.06)
Not only Israel lose with this resolution. Come firstly for the Jews, then come for the Christians (first in Lebanon) then for the other infidels.
64. Ahmed
Ed ,   Moscow Russia   (08.12.06)
Ahmed, Mo is dead. Ed
65. UN resolution

OHLMERT GO HOME.
66. the next government should be Bibi, Lieberman, Effie Eitam
Olmert sucks ,   Peretz swallows   (08.12.06)
67. "Cheese Omlet" you have lost the war
Human ,   Planet Earth   (08.12.06)
I dont support any form of violance but If you live by the sword you will die by the sword, if you live by the gun you will die by the gun and if you live by the missiles you will die by the rockets, if you kill innocent children, Hizbullah will kill your IDF soldiers as has been the case, ) IDF has killed more civillians that Hizbullah fighters and Hizbullah has killed more IDF soldiers than Israeli civillians. The Israeli "Omlet" has lost this war, diplomacy should have been given a chance 32 days a go, may be 130 Israelis and 1200 lebanese civillians would have been alive today. So what have you achieved Mr cheese Omlete, Hiz is still put and capable, your 2 soldiers still kidnapped, your people dead, houses destroyed, now its your turn to face the heat of your subjects, resign and head back to wherevr you came from in Europe or Russia or Ethiopia, or wherever the hell you sprung up from, after all you dont belong in Palestine.
68. #57 you are correct
anne ,   usa   (08.12.06)
Iran and Syria, who control Hizbullah, will cause more nightmares not only between Israel and the Lebanese, but for the peoples of the entire world. Anyone who thinks this is over now is in for a very painful, sorrowful surprise.
69. Ceasefire helps Hizbollah
Nannette ,   London, UK   (08.12.06)
Syria and Iran will take over Lebanon during this Hudna, and ultimately Israel will be the loser. The resolution prevents Israel's right to any self defence, and gives a precedent to prevent any western country from defending itself. It's time to disband the UN! Number of UN member states that are full-fledged democracies or "fully free" according to Freedom House: 89 Number of UN member states: 192 Percentage of UN member states which are full-fledged democracies: 46% http://www.eyeontheun.org/facts.asp?1=1&p=16
70. Backstabbed by the US
Ilan ,   rehovot, Israel   (08.12.06)
The US has always used Israel as a pawn in its big chess game. It was OK with us, because for us it meant survival. Now the US has sacrifised its pawn, to improve its own status.
71. #46 - You didn't mean to be, I'm sure
Sharon ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.12.06)
but your piece was actually quite heartwarming. Sometimes it feels like we aren't equally protected in the international arena, but you're right - those rules have applied. Thank you.
72. #24 - Nail on the head (or in the coffin)
Sharon ,   Haifa, Israel   (08.12.06)
"the consent of the government of Lebanon" What will this really mean when the influence of Hizbollah there has been so overwhelming?
73. israel won, of course !
vize ,   france   (08.12.06)
If we consider the israeli goal, it's 100% won (electricity, roads, harbours, bridges, villages and corners destroyed, civilians of all religions killed, etc). If we consider the alibi, hezbollah, of course israel lost, it was completely ridiculous and powerless actually. It's a not a bad thing, it will give the opportunity of israel military power and of israeli's hatress towards lebanon to express once again in the coming months/years. Israel played very well : it could use the hezbollah alibi to bomb christian corners, for example, or tell civilians to leave cities and bomb them on the roads in the mean time, forbid humanitarian help in the south, etc... By getting christians definitely against israel, israel could make sure there would be no peace with lebanon anyday. Good : lebanon enemy is a good ciment for the israeli population (which supported the war unanimously). Now please don't tell me about the two israeli soldiers. Hey, we're at war and what's going on is much more important than these two guys. Even Olmert and Peretz know that, they don't give a sugar about them And f israel wants to put an end to hezbollah : two ways : 1°) kill all the shiites. 1.2 million people. The thing is, "the US (and the world community) won't let us do that", as israel always say when it's about civilians. Because hezbollah is the party of these people, it runs their hospitals and schools, fights for their prisonners in lebanon, represents them at the parliament. Israel, at least, tried to kill and hurt as many of them as possible, we'll see if it was enough, bravo for the effort. 2°) give them what they want : free their prisonners (exchange them) and give back shebaa farms to lebanon. Oh, but maybe israel won't appear as an invincible nation anymore ? As a human nation instead ? Which one costs you more ?
74. #2 You Are Right!
(08.12.06)
What a disappointment! We are back to the situation of pre-12.7.06. What will happen now? When Hezbollah attacked us, our government held the Lebanese covernment accountable for the provocation. This stand has not basically changed until now. With the deployment of the Lebanese army, the major part of which counts Shiites, in fact we bring back Hezbollah by proxy to our borders. And the “peacemaking” UNIFiL has long ago earned the reputation of toothless and convenient shield for our attackers. We have to admit that all the bloodshed we were dragged into turned out unnecessary and we only lost lives without getting back our abducted soldiers and without assuring quiet life to the North of Israel, but only losing in our self-esteem. We have to admit that our government and ZAHAL did not act according to our and even to our enemy’s expectations. We should not lure ourselves by words of compliance to the decisions of the international community because we know that what really bothered them during the conflict is their own interests and ingratiation with Arab world. They don’t really care what price we Israelis will pay in future for the amateurism and stupidity of our government. But WE care. Our cause is lost this time. Let's think better who will we entrust to the power next time on our way to the polling station.
75. The big loser. George Walker Bush!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.12.06)
This "Cease Fire" agreement has made a complete fool of the United States and President Bush! Mr. President, where the hell is the War on Terror that you claim to be winning? Sir, you and the Brits have killed or caused the deaths of over 40,000 Iraqi civilians and now you betrayed the only real ally you have, the State of Israel and its people, by selling us out for French Wine, Russian Vodka, Chinese takout and lunch with the Beckett woman! I said it before and I say it again, Israel can only rely on herself. With friends like the USA and the UK well, who needs Hezbollah?
76. Reply to #43
Adam ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (08.12.06)
First of all retard; 'Sheba' has never been under the soverignty of the Lebanese Republic, EVER and was Syrian soveriegn land before we took it in self defence after they shelled us for 20 odd years. Secondly this war was started by Hezballah NOT BY ISRAEL. Apart from the fact that they have been shelling us with a minimum response for 20 yrs they once again randomly kidnaped our soldier and began shelling more than usual. Additionally they are no good for Lebanon and more than half of the country there doesn't want them.
77. FAILUR, OF CURSE FAILUR !!!
(08.12.06)
78. IT'S SUCESS, OF CURSE IT IS, BUT FOR HIZBOLLAH
ZICO   (08.12.06)
79. reply to 76
vize ,   france   (08.12.06)
more than half the population don't want them ? that was before the war, dude, before israel decided to destroy lebanon, in particular hit the infrastructures and the christian corners. But now a majority of lebanese understood that the ennemy of lebanon isn't hezbollah, it's israel. This is anyway a goal achieved by the current operation : the military state of israel has to make sure no peace is possible with lebanon, because israel believes that "arabs only understand ferocity". Therefore, the state of war is prefered by israeli govts, it's moreover a way to ciment israelis (amir peretz was elected to help the poor, he is helpless about that but thanks to the war most of israelis back him). As we know that most israelis support censorship about the army (israeli polls after a soldier complained at a camera he's doing "ethnical epuration"), that shows how important the war is in the heart of israelis.
80. FAILURE!
Stu ,   USA   (08.12.06)
This resolution accomplishes none of the goals that were stated at the beginning of this conflict. It does not guarantee the return of our soldiers (it mentions a demand for their unconditional return, but does not force Hizbollah to do so). It does not call for the complete and total disarming of Hizbollah only the enforcement of 1559 which only calls for the disarmament of Hizbollah south of the Litani. Their long range rockets will still be able to hit Israel from north of the Litani. And there will not be an effective international force to maintain the peace. Two-thirds of the Lebanese army is Shiite. The resolution gives the government (which has 23 parliamentary seats, and two ministerial seats occupied by Hizbollah) the authority to allow any weapons they want into the country. This resolution is a death sentence for Israel. Do not let Olmert and Kadima destroy Israel. Get them out now before it's too late!
81. In other words the same old anti-Israel resolution
Arie ,   Afula   (08.12.06)
82. A recipie for the next war
Arie ,   Afula   (08.12.06)
83. olmert MUST go!
Arie ,   Afula   (08.12.06)
84. reply to 79 - the FROG!
Arie ,   Afula   (08.12.06)
Yes we do support the fight against islamofascism, the ideology and terrorism that the frogs of france surrendered to in 1939 when they were controlled by hitler. Tell us frog, what is it like to live your life on your knees at the feet of your arabid overlords?
85. To #79 - the FROG
Arie ,   Afula   (08.12.06)
I understand the islamofrog flag used to be a bicolour, but the frogs decided to add a white band when they realized it made for an easier to handle all-purpose surrender flag!
86. To #28 and all the readers in general
Shira   (08.12.06)
Please read this: http://www.stephenpollard.net/002802.html
87. # 43 - I AGREE.
Dias ,   USA   (08.12.06)
Any just text must include : 1. Unconditional retreat from Arabic lands including Schaaba farms. 2. Full compensation to Lebanon of all IDF attacks in lebanon including infrastructure, bridges etc. 3. Criminal tribunal of Israeli Government members before a really international court for their War crimes. Israel MUST be forced to put right what it destroyed and pay the price for its government's idiocy. If it wants to be taken seriously by theinternational community, it must also agree on a proper settlement with the Palestinians.
88. UN suddenly remembers
Casiopea   (08.12.06)
The UN suddenly remembers resolution 1559 and that Lebanon is not controlled entirely by its government.
89. Convicted terrorists vs. kidnapped soldiers
Casiopea   (08.12.06)
The UN considers convicted terrorists enjailed in Israel and the kidnapped Israeli soldiers are the same. The Lebanese terrorists were sent to prison following a trial. Can the UN decide they should be released?
90. Prognosis for the future
The Raccoon   (08.12.06)
1) Israel accepts this suicidal pact. In a few years, Israelis destroyed in a nuclear holocaust; a few years later, the world plunges into Islamist Dark Ages - death, slavery and ignorance rule the world once again. 2) Israel accepts this suicidal pact. Olmert and Peretz are removed by a vote of nonconfidence; a person with some spine is voted in (Halutz is someone I would vote for). Israel prepares for the inevitable massive war; when it comes, Israel destroys her enemies and is safe once more. The world continues to enjoy the fruits of the Enlightenment for some more time. 3) Olmert and Peretz grow spines and testicles, reject the suicidal pact, stop getting underfoot of the IDF. We destroy Hizballah utterly, a reasonable treaty is signed; the final war is postponed while revitalized Israel prepares. So, which one is it going to be? I would bet on #1.
