When this war started, all what Hezballah wanted a prisoners swap, now after 147 Israeli killed, Israel will eventually do the same prisoners swap. I cannot express my anger!
5. Not in my time.
rickmd03 ,   Baltimore, USA   (08.14.06)
There was a King in the Bible who was glad that Israel's destruction would not come in his time but in his children's time. What would you face if the IDF did not stand between you and the enemies of Israel? Is there any people on earth so hated without cause? Is there any other place on earth where so few are opposed by so many? Perhaps you see youself righteous because you oppose war. R.E. Lee said, "It is good that war is so terrible or we would grow to love it too much." The Panoply and the Glory are overwhelmed by the gore and the lost treasure. Churchill would not condemn the appeasers saying "it is good to love peace." I will not condemn you. It is good to love peace. But you likewise need to give honor those warriors to whom honor is due.
6. a necessary war which unfortunately we lost

7. Israeli Heroes: Past, Present and Future.
Sara ,   USA   (08.14.06)
We say "Baruch Dayan HaEmet" upon hearing of death. We believe that Hashem 's reasons are not for us to understand. But, in war, there is no excuse except for bad military planning, lack of proper equipment, not enough training, unexpected cirumstances abound. There is no comfort among the mourners who must live with the loss of a loved one. Life is too precious. But, this ceasefire will not solve the problems that have caused these tragedies. It is enough that we are battling on same soil we did six years ago. We must break this vicious cycle of violence and not permit another generation to deal with it ever again. Bolton, Rice and Bush sold us out for their own self-serving reasons. Condolences are meaningless if we are still forced to face same situation repeatedly. Lebanon makes a big stink about their losses, but they have not agreed to stop the battle and will continue to let Hezbolleh in their gov't and in their army and man arms. We must stop this war, but not if these deaths become meaningless. Am not a warmonger, but am so sick of lies. At least send home our three boys from captivity (Hez. and Hamas!!!). Heroism was for the Maccabees, today Living is Heroic. I'YH may this be a peace Israel can live with, or at least have time to heal with dignity.
8. Some common sense... finally.
Ralph ,   Lebanon   (08.14.06)
I hope that more and more israelis will realize this sad truth. It's a shame to see the hatred exchanged over the various articles written on the web. I have read almost every day both Yedot & Haretz, only to see how brain washed youngsters are on all sides. I hope that Lebanese, Palestinians, and Israelis will create shadow governments with youngsters and meet outside this region. I am sure they can achieve much more than the actual governments and their dirty politics!
9. Leave Palestine and go back to Europe
(08.14.06)
10. #8 RALPH LEBANON -THANK U
NORTH ,   ISRAEL   (08.14.06)
YOUR WORDS TOUCHED ME AS I AM SITTING IN MY SHELTER THINKING IS THIS REALLY A CEASEFIRE.? RALPH I WANT US TO FIND PEACE, HELP YOUR PEOPLE TO FIND PEACE, WE ALL NEED IT, WE ALL NEED TO SEARCH OUR SOULS.. U ARE RIGHT I TOO HAVE READ THINGS ON THE NET THAT WUD MAKE UR HAIR CURL..AND MOSTLY FM PEOPLE WHO DO NOT EVEN LIVE IN THE REGION AND WHO HAVE NO IDEA. I BELIEVE WE CAN GET ALONG, I AM SURE OF IT..AND I PRAY FOR IT TOGETHER WITH MY FAMILY THAT ONE DAY THERE WILL BE PEACE BETWEEN US AND WE WILL WORK AS PARTNERS TOWARDS PEACE RATHER THAN ENEMIES IN BATTLE. SUPPORT SENIORA'S GOVT AND GOD BLESS THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL/LEBANON LET US ALL PRAY FOR PEACE NOT ONLY FOR US BUT FOR GENERATIONS TO COME.
11. to #10, U're welcome...
Ralph ,   Lebanon   (08.14.06)
It's courageous, being in a shelter, to still think positive and peacefull. Salam, Shalom.
12. Pease Palestine/Israel/Lebanon and #10
Samir ,   Canada   (08.14.06)
#10, it seems that you don't recognize Palestinians right for peace. Ralph hopes for peace in the entire region and you excluded the Palestinians. Do you still think that we shouldn't exist? I dream of a land where we all leave together, one man one vote. Please take out this hatred and let’s live together in the holy land in one democratic state or at least let us live in the west bank and Gaza and have east Jerusalem as our capital. To live in peace you must recognize the others rights.
13. to 8,10
christian ,   beirut, lebanon   (08.14.06)
finally some rationality... lebanese christians and israelis are very VERY similar. I've heard Tel Aviv is just the jewish version of Christian Beirut. I hope one day we will be able to visit each other on vacations. We need people like you on both sides. Sadly, many muslims (especially shiites) here are brainwashed since childhood, and never reach the stage of critical thinking and re-evaluation of the BS they are taught. If lebanon was ruled only by us, we would have signed peace with you in 1948 and maybe we'd have a funny jewish hit song now playing in Beirut nightclubs.
14. Prefer Gadi Taubs article
Livia Tan   (08.14.06)
if ynet bothers to translate it. This insulting article here they were saving for this particular day, to, as usual. try to drag us down, but I will not be compared to most palestinians, nor will I allow any one I know. Better for this Jonah to be swallowed by the whale, and not spewed up again.
15. Arab's do
Zack ,   Canada   (08.14.06)
They are brave unliek the IDF
16. To Lebanese Christian #13
Abousamra ,   Canada   (08.14.06)

17. To 13
Lara ,   Lebanon   (08.14.06)
I bet you don't have any shii friends, I bet you have stayed all your life within the limits of "Christian Beirut", and don't have any idea what the rest of Lebanon looks like, I bet it's YOU who have been brainwashed by all the booz you've been drinking. I cheer your love for peace and your open-mindedness, I suggest you first use them at home.
18. Israel let it happen
SR ,   NYC   (08.14.06)
First of all, what the hell do you mean, Hizbollah crossed the border, kidnapped two soldiers and killled eight others. How could such a thing be allowed to happen?. That's pure and stupid complacency. And if this is what happened, sending an army and losing Jewish 120 soldiers to "make a point" is another stupid thing. What's the result? Only 10% of Hizbollah terrorists killed and only 25% of their presumed rocket arsenal is expended. This shows that another IDF operation is inevitable, with much more IDF casualties. Israel is to blame because 1) it was complacent 2) it was not smart enough 3) it was not brutal enough
19. #8 and #10 thanx :)
(08.14.06)
20. to 17
christian ,   beirut, lebanon   (08.15.06)
lara, i have quite a few shiite friends for the record, or else i wouldn't know how brainwashed they were. Please tell me if you think dahieh looks like tel aviv. I was not being racist or rejectionist or whatever. I am not afraid of the truth. Muslim lifetyle (especially the lifetyle of HA supporters living in dahieh) is, to say the least, different than that of israelis. There is nothing to be ashamed about, unless 'different' for you is 'inferior', but I never said that, that's in your head only. As for peace at home, if you tell your friends to drop their guns, dismantle the state within a state and give up on liberating palestine or assisting iran, we might have peace at home. It's not the christians who are smuggling rockets and arms. So you are talking to the wrong person.
21. reaching out
erly ,   Canada   (08.15.06)
I am so impressed with an Israeli and a Lebanese, both victims of this war reaching out. Ignore the hateful people here, and keep a dialogue open. My country Canada, seems to have some very sick Muslims who have recently immigrated as you can see by the Canadian response. Please know that you are the hope for the future of all of us. From a feminine athiest " God Bless You.
22. peace upon isreal
JP   (08.15.06)
#9 you have to get used to the idea that Isreal is there to stay! to the peace loving Christian and #10 thank you for spreading peace. The world would be a better place with people like you but dont despair this can spread if it begins from your own homes. The dead: eternal rest grant to them or Lord, let perpetual light shine upon them may their souls rest in peace. May the Peace of God rest upon Isreal and its people.
23. fAMILIES ARE NOTIFIED.
Mark Willmott ,   Kitchener, Canada   (08.16.06)
When the first Israeli soldier was kidnapped the first thing I thought of was my own son (he is 21). The thought of a group of people holding my son hostage made me feel physically ill! I couldn't imagine being a parent and seeing a military man coming to my door and I know what he is there for. I sometimes feel guilty for living in a safe part of the world and my countries best friend just happens to live next door, and as every Israeli and Canadian knows its a great feeling having the worlds only superpower as your best friend. I truly hope that one day soon all Israelis (and everyone else in the middle east) can live in complete peace and harmony. May you all live a life based on faith and love for democracy...take care...Mark.
