31. Hezbollah in the Lebanese Army
There is nothing in the world anyone could do if Hezbollah's armed forced become a part of the Lebanese Army. Israel will have to swallow that pill, no matter how bitter. After all, the Hezbollah forces are Lebanese. One should not forget the fact that the PM of Lebanon has endorsed and praised Hezbollah for the resistance and sacrifice.
The fact that the Israeli Northern commander is worried about this development is an indication that Israel is not serious about peace initiatives with Lebanon.
The only way forward is to return all Lebanese prisoners, return Shebaa Farms (does not matter whose it is, Lebanese or Syrian; definetely not Israeli) and give the detailed map of the landmines on S.Lebanon to the Sinoura goverment.
By doing this which is not impossible, creates a perfect climate for peace thereby not giving anyone a chance to have a go at Israel, and securing a permanent peace.
If this were to come about you just might see a column of Israeli shoppers heading down to the Beirut shopping malls.
Israel can dream better dreams!

34. Re #26 You are an amateur Lebanese Analyst
First of all, Samir Geagea is not a doctor. He has no University degree. Second, Geagea and Joumblat are two criminals of waqr and deserve fair trial at an international court for their crimes against humanity. They are worse than Milosevic and Saddam. Third, When Joumblat was killing the Lebanese Christians using Syrian arms, where were you? Fourth, When Geagea went to Hafez Assad and considered himself like his son, where were you? Fifth, when General Aoun was fiting the Syrian occupation, where were you? and Finally, when Geagea and Joumblat impress their TV audience with their silly rationale and superficial simple logic, what do you do? I think no mature political analyst values Geagea and Joumblat.... even the Israelis who cooperated in the past with Geagea and Joumblat, don't respect them anymore... Who do you think shakes hands with jerks like Geagea and Joumblat?

You are a delusional coniving idiot if your really believe that Israel giving back Shebaa Farms or anything short of all of Israel wlil make peace with the barbaric animals you call people. The only way to bring peace to the region is to decimate all of Lebanon and Syria so that they will be no one to be at war with anymore. It will happen sooner or later. Don't insult our intelligence by trying to pretend like these fanatical morons want peace. If they wanted peace, we would have had peace a long long time ago.

Appeasment DOES NOT WORK!!!!!!! It has never worked, did you learn nothing from the Nazi's? Appeasment only encourages these animals. No matter what Israel does Hezbollah will keep on attacking and attacking on thier bogus lies. Hezbollah does not want peace, Hamas does not want peace, and neither does Syria or Iran, they all call for the destruction of Israel. Remember 2000 when Israel withdrew from Lebannon and the so called "occupied territories"? Is that not the peace deal you just described? Where is your peace Nazim, explain that to me, where is it? Or somebody explain it to me.

40. HEZBOLLAH: A TAKEOVER, NOT INFILTRATION OF LEBANESE ARMY
Watching the tragic events in Lebanon, and reflecting on the last few years in Iraq, one thing suddenly becomes clear to me: conventional armies are of no use against superpowers and clients of superpowers, e.g, the USA and Israel (add Iran and Syria, if you like).
For Lebanon to rely on conventional army forces is to surrender its ability to defend itself (and, as we have seen in the last month, nobody in the world will come to its defense against its neighbors).
Clearly, the wave of the future is the kind of armed guerrilla war we've seen Hezbollah and the insurgents of Iraq wage.
As much as Lebanese want peace with their neighbors, they must realize that in this new age of warfare they require a new age army with new age strategy and tactics, not the army of conventional wisdom that can be destroyed totally by a better armed foe in 6 days.
An army with the capabilities of Hezbollah will make Lebanon's neighbors think twice before attacking, and may win for Lebanon some of the respect it has not been receiving.

Who is talking about appeazing Hizbullah?
I think the time when one can hope to achieve anything by appeazing Hizbullah is past. Israel lost its battle with Hizbullah (and by extension, Syria and Iran) and now is the time to try to speak to them, as the Israeli Defence Minister is trying right this minute... according to the Israel National Radio.
Time for peace, Pal. Forget about Greater israel. It only brought death and destruction on the people of Israel - and others.

43. Hizbollah = Lebanese Army
I do not think you have to be concerned about Hizbollah infiltrating the Lebanese army. It was done a long time ago. Haven't you noticed? Where was the army during the war? Where was the army during the last 6 years? They were in Lebanon, without uniforms, building bunkers, underground tunnels and collecting weapons. Now there is a need that some were a uniform as the Lebanese army. That is what you achieved while losing innocent young lives, the hostages are nowhere, lives disrupted and the economy of Israel will suffer for a long time. More, the next war is imminent; I just pray to God that by some miracle they will be really crippled and stay with Allah and the virgins.

45. Response to #18
Joshua (USA) uses a patently invalid comparison between Lebanon's (Hezbollah's) economic loss with that of Israel.
Israel suffered millions in damage, but Lebanon suffered Billions.
Israel lost 120 soldiers, but Lebanon lost 1000's (of civilians).
This is obscene. Israel DID NOT start this war! And, Israel has complied with every peace resolution/accord/road map, even to the detriment of their security, and without failure, at the cost of its citizens' lives!
The extremists never wanted, do not want, and never will accept, peace.
If Lebanon is in ruins and its people dead it is because Hezbollah decided to use them for their war. That Israel had to strike at so-called civilian targets is the fault of those brave Holy Warriors who crammed Katiushas inside their brethren's homes; That is to Hezbollahs' shame, and in my opinion, and their damnation to Hell!

46. pathetic how shalow
still talking about the destruction of the beautiful lebanon who won the the war israel or the party of god (hezbolla) it is about time that lebanese look beyond that and start thinking about a way to construct themselfs and their country far from accusation and enemousty . what i hear from canadians and americans here the winner is hezbollah no doubt and in particular the leader (sheikh hassan nasrallah )if they like it or not this is a fact , for those who are wishing to have geagaa or walid junblat or even saed hariri president for lebanon , this will remain a wish , cause lebanese are smarters than having criminals and traders ruling their country ( please go back to geagaa and junblat's history and their crimes and to hariri path ) . in regards to israelis , about time to start making deplomatic relations with all the arab world and give palestenians the right to live peacefully on their own land , otherwise go back from where they came from and leave what is called holly land to it's own peopple the palestenians , and this is comming not now in 5 years , in 10 years, 20 years , and justice will be there
