Please get off that unique stuff because RH will begin on Shabbat this year. RH occurs on Shabbat for 28.6% of all the Hebrew years. In fact, not too long ago, RH occurred on Shabbat 4 times in 5 consecutive years. That opening remark turned me off to the rest of the article because it was such an ignorant remark.

Rosh Hashana on Shabbat has occured many times before, depends on how luach comes out. But, not being able to carry shofar? If there is an EREV, then, why not? Or, better yet, why not make halacha that the shofar MUST BE in shul prior to Yom Tov? This is no different than properly preparing an erev tavshlin when yom tov precedes shabbat so one can cook for shabbat. Preparation is the key. Understand this is not the halacha, but wonder why anshei knesset hagedolah didn't do it this way? Oviously your answer of human equality for judgement is correct, yet the sound of the shofar is for communal listening and wake up call for teshuvah. Should not be based on who actually 'owns' shofar. I"YH this year shall be the geulah and we should all be zocheh to teshuvah gemurah. Thank you for your wonderful clarificatioin.
4. Shofar on rosh hashona shabbos
Allan ,   Montreal   (08.25.06)
The explanation for not blowing the mandatory rosh hashona shofar on Shabbos depends on an irrelevant non sequitur ; The main question to be adressed is ,does the commandment to observe shabbos every week trump the commandment to blow the shofar every year on rosh hashona ?for what appear tome to be a host of different reasons the answer ought to be ,no.
5. Shofar MUST be blown on Rosh HaShanah!
Rebecca ,   NYC   (08.26.06)
G-d's commandments for His Holy Days FAR exceeds the weekly shabbos. Rosh HaShanah is the FEAST OF TRUMPETS decreed by HaShem Himself! We must obey G-d's laws as written in the Torah over oral laws of man passed down through generations. G-d's law does NOT change! G-d does NOT change. To refuse to blow the Shofar on the FEAST OF TRUMPETS is in error!

According to Leviticus 23:23, God commands Israel to have a sabbath-rest on this day and a MEMORIAL of blowing the trumpet, a holy convocation. It is done to REMEMBER what God has done for you. By all means, Blow the trumpet in ZION!!!
