1. Reservist Protest
Leon ,   Grand Rapids U S A   (08.24.06)
What they are saying is self-evident. No one can dispute it, and , I believe that this is the beginning of the end for Ohlmert, Peretz. & co.
2. The army's foul-ups
robin ,   israel   (08.24.06)
My daughter, who is a soldier, not in Lebanon, was given changing instructions all the time on where to go. One day, during katyushas, she was told to turn back on her way to Srifim when she got to the bus station in Afula. She came back home, and I had to drive her to a bus stop and sit with her for a half hour in the open in an area heavily bombarded by katyushas until we received further instructions. Another day, maybe our fault, the bus from Kyriat Shmona that she normally takes left 15 minutes earlier with no notification, and we had to stand at the bus stop, in the open, for 45 minutes, in the most heavily bombarded area. We were not alone, there were several soldiers with their parents, and not only that, all through northern Israel during the war, soldiers stood in the open near bus stops waiting for rides or buses. Maybe bomb shelters need to be built, or bunkers, near bus stops, because soldiers do have to travel.
3. No matter what... u will remain loosers!!
El-Nab ,   Lebanon   (08.24.06)
its ok , we are used to wars... but lots of events are evolving in Isreal after that stupid failed war!! Wait and see... the coming days shall tell!! We have our hizballah and we are proud of it... You have a corrupted goverment and politicians who are born to be the slaves of the US!!

5. If they cared about Israel-they would've resigned-Yesterday
Jenny   (08.24.06)
But they only care about themselves and their political careers. Once the public really rallies together to get rid of Olmert, he'll prob. be on the next plane to France to join his son.
6. Olmert, Peretz & Co. - OUT!

whocares ,   dfdf   (08.24.06)
I think politicians in Israel are pushing young Israelies into the war for the sake of American power... we are in the 21st century we live in the Internet age... people from diffirent ethnics can communicate to understand each others and accept each other, at the same time Israely leaders who are controled by ego and dreams of power. still lives in Bible age. where they used to put on the cross the non believers. I think the last war was the result of the incapability in using politics to get what they want, so it's a proove of the isareiy government failure. it's time for Israel to evolve and accept reall democracy. this will happen when Israel drop the idea that they are the chosen ones which is the base of the social system in Israel. u wanna be chosen u can be the chosen in your house not on the street....same as in New York not as in Tel Aviv.... (BTW I'm Lebanese)
10. Best Wishes
Robert Gray ,   Los Angeles   (08.24.06)
I hope you succeed in forming a govt that will meet today and tomorrow's challenges valiantly.
11. Hands tied
Al ,   Salt Lake City   (08.24.06)
I think the top brass in Israel also had their hands tied. They were waiting for word from our fearless leader Bush. As we all know, he's an aweful leader therefor Israels top brass failed you. If you disagree, you must not realize that we (USA)own you.
12. “Is this a Group Think” ?
Joshua ,   USA   (08.24.06)
“Group Think” is very dangerous to the IDF and to Israel. It is easy to blame the leaders; they are the scapegoats of a bigger problem in Israel.
13. About time people get up and protest, to rid of Olmert & Co.
(08.24.06)
14. the sooner they go the better
zev ,   haifa   (08.24.06)

malcolm   (08.24.06)
16. Hundreds protest while the rest still asleep?
AK   (08.24.06)
There should be hundreds of thousand protesting. Where are the no-show, other Israelis? Are they satisfied with Olmert?
17. # 1 You believe ?
Sagi   (08.24.06)
Leon, you want to believe as I also want to believe and so do many others. it ai'nt gonna happen unless people power takes over, and I mean 1789 style. These people are snakes, each and every one of them, ruthless and unethical, they will sell their granny at breakfast, buy her back at lunch time and resell in the evening. Only massive power will topple them.
18. This is the end for leftist traitors
ben ,   london, uk   (08.24.06)
hopefullky this is the ned for the disgusting leftist traitors smolmert and peretz and hoefully the RIGHTeous people can take power
19. What Are They Protesting?
Dave Levi ,   Burbank. USA   (08.24.06)
Israel was intimidated into not attacking Hezbollah and, for that matter, Lebanon, soon after it launched it's offensive. Again, the charge of excessive force, or disproportionate force was hurled at the Israeli gov't (Olmert) and the military (Halutz, Peretz, etc.). Unfortunately, Israel was forced to fight thugs and murderers who hid in populated areas, and behind the skirts of black veiled Arab women and young children. That placed serious restrictions on the IDF operations, until that is, most Lebanese were allowed (by Hezbollah) to vacate their towns and villages. Israel didn't lose, but it didn't win either. It's electronic warfare was also compromised by superior devices (supplied by Iran). The reservists are only making Israel's Arab enemies happier, and are encouraging them, by the nonsensical protests. It's similar to Cindy Sheehan in the US, who has embolden the insurgents in Iraq. Both the US and Israel, should think about defeating their opponents once and for all by a good "ass-whuppin" as we say here. That is what they understand...not mis-placed anger by some troops for not getting sufficient water, or a sermon on human values., that the Arabs never have had.
20. Shlomo Lev Ami's words must be carved in stone.
(08.24.06)
Shlomo Lev Ami, a former Etzel (The Irgun) member, said during the rally in Jerusalem ‘if we do not rise up and prepare an alternative for the rotten regime, then a new regime will be established that will be similar to the one you are toppling. “Now is the new generation’s time – you should be a part of the next government,” he said. Those words are so obvious yet so few pay attention to what he says. The Israelis prefer "safe" alternative of "old” political leaders who have had their try at running the country and bring nothing new to the political discourse. Oh well, looks like the Irgun was right back then, as they are now. I can only hope that their children have turned out to better than those of their political opponents.
21. to n.12
hurma ,   israel   (08.24.06)
You don't understand - it is the leaders that is our greatest problem. They failed big-time and must go.They are dangerous for Israel.
22. What a perfect time for an attack.
James ,   Toledo, Ohio USA   (08.24.06)
Whatever you people in Israel are going to do...you need to do it very quickly. With weak leadership and the chaos happening Israel is more likely to use nukes to defend itself. Then the world can point a big finger at you...again.
23. Reply to #16...sleeping....zzz...zzz....zzz...
James ,   Toledo Oho USA   (08.24.06)
The entire West is asleep, it's not just Israel. Ever dream you were hearing your alarm? And didn't wake up? This hotel doesn't do wake up calls twice.

25. Since GAZA SURRENDER to TERRORISTS Many JEWS UNJUSTLY JAILED
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.24.06)
israelnationalnews.com Children Challenge the System by Moshe Dann Aug 14, '06 / 20 Av 5766 This month, two 15-year-old girls, Oriah Shirel and Iska Federman, were released from N'vei Tirza, a maximum security prison in Israel, where they had been kept for eight weeks. Their crime: participating in a demonstration in a neighborhood of Hebron, where they live. Oriya was not charged with any violence or attempted violence; Iska was charged with throwing stones, but there is no proof. Oriah and Iska had come to protest the Israeli government's decision to rebuild a wall abutting the Jewish neighborhood of Avraham Avinu and a playground. On the other side of the wall is an Arab home from which Jews have been attacked... ...Since the evacuation of Jews from their communities in Gaza and northern Samaria, hundreds of Jews have been jailed, some for months, for minor misdemeanors, civil disobedience - many without charges or trials. Recently, in anticipation of the government's unilateral withdrawal from Judea and Samaria, scores of "activists", most with families, have been jailed or given orders preventing them from living in the areas to be evacuated. Hebron, specifically, has had a history of alleged police discrimination against Jews for many years... http://www.israelnationalnews.com/article.php3?id=6464
26. SNAFU
ian deal ,   melbourne australia   (08.24.06)
"Situation normal all fouled up" , was standard military expression, when things went wrong in WW2! Oh well, in any system riddled with disciples of 'the peter principle' you can't expect much in the way of any success! Throw into the mix, a bunch of very silly people , blinded by the wonders of modern technology, who were placed in positions well above their existing level of competency! Finally a propaganda machine that couldn't differentiate the difference between self incrimination and real propaganda!(say this is almost identical to what happened at MACV HQ in Siagon in the years between 1963 to 1975) Oh well, to live and learn or merely to repeat the mistakes of others on the same scale, for those that fail to learn the lessons of history, will always make the same mistakes!
27. Israeli Leaders JEW-HATE cannot be ignored!
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.24.06)
How can Israel win wars when terrorists are the preferred favorites for whom Jews are beaten, their bones broken, Jews jailed, their land stolen and given to the preferred favorites - Muslim terrorists bent on Israel's destruction.
28. ISRAEL Use their PRISON For HAMAS RALLY FOR JIHAD
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.24.06)
Whilst patriotic Jews are regarded as enemies of the state. Israel's leaders continue to demonstrate their sympathies are not with Jewish victims. Their sympathies are with Islamic terrorist killers. Israel gave the use of an Israeli prison to promote jihad against Israel's Jewish innocents. For some unknown and terrible reason, Israel's leaders continue to give every indication that they want Israel's barbaric enemies to win. www.jerusalempost.com May. 18, 2006 14:19 | Updated May. 20, 2006 16:20 Another Tack: Lifers here and there By SARAH HONIG ...Israeli prisons are indeed unique. Not only do the most dangerous terrorists therein get hold of phones, but recently Hamas overtly conducted a mass rally in a southern Israeli maximum-security penitentiary, where scores of convicts congregated in the courtyard, which they festooned with Hamas Islamic-green banners and Palestinian flags. A stage and speakers' rostrum were erected. The backdrop decor was a giant collage, displaying the Hamas emblem, portraits of Hamas leaders, slogans calling for Jihad against Israel and pictures of RPGs underscored by the motto "we'll continue." White plastic chairs were neatly arranged for the "audience," who cheered the invective hurled at the Zionist state and freely photographed the occasion - all under the disinterested eyes of passive Israeli wardens. The snapshots are available for viewing on the Web. Terrorist lifers in Israel don't expect to end their existence in captivity...
29. NOT TO WORRY
myron ,   USA   (08.24.06)
Livni is in Paris(ite) conferring with Abd_el Chirac. Is she really so stupid that she is not aware that France is Israel's quiet enemy; that France's agenda is diametrically opposed to Israel's . She must be thrown out , she and Peretz and Olmert, As soon as possible. BIBI IN NOW !!!
30. In Shock
M. Simon ,   Rockford, Illinois,   (08.24.06)
The protests are small now because the country is in shock. In another week expect them to swell. I link to this piece here: http://powerandcontrol.blogspot.com/2006/08/lebanon-operational-review.html
