His calling today's war results "fantasy" is a correct statment, fantasy because it was a complete failure, not because the IDF or the Israeli govt was able to meet even one goal stated at the onset of the war. hezbollah is rearming and our POW's are no closer to coming home. Foolish man. Do the right thing for the people of Israel and step down now.

Just as in Darfur, the mulinational farce will achieve nothing but notoriety. If he is stupid enough to depend on them, he cannot survive.

If someone has told me at the start of the war - that Israel would give up all its war objectives that after the war the kidnapped soldiers would not be freed and there would be no news about whether they were even alive that a UN force would be in place with a specific mandate not to disarm Hizbullah that the UN force would be made up entirely of Hizbullah sympathisers that Hizbullah would be completely free to rearm and rebuild its infrastructure, thus enabling it to wage the next terror war on Israel aided and protected by the UN force that billions of dollars of aid would pour in to reward the aggressor state Lebanon and not a penny into Israel and that Israel's prime minister would pronounce the above to be a great triumph - then I could only have dreamed of such breathtaking stupidity.

Here we go, the bodies of our fallen are still warm and Mr. Olmert has fabricated a fantastic new story about dreaming of such great results that he wouldn’t have imagined. The spin doctors have created a new story for him to pound out at all his forthcoming engagements in an effort to try and convince Israel that he did all right and that Israel should now be proud of his achievements during the past 6 weeks. Mr. Olmert should rather come clean, admit that big problems exist and spend his energies at that task and not insult the Israeli people with such crap. Mr. Olmert had better recognize that new political parties in Israel tend to be one hit wonders and at the current rate, he will be lucky to see out half a term.

Olmert thinks he can "con" everyone by assuring them that another miserable UN resolution and the return of the useless Lebanese army are fantastic achievements and we should really be congratulating ourselves on how much we have achieved. Get rid of this man-- his arrogance and dishonesty are dangerous. Israel needs accountable leaders not political animals whose sole concern is staying in power.

Olmert sounds like the Arab news agencies which were declaring victory when they lost each war with Israel before this last fiasco. He is lying and his lies ring false. He must resign and Israel must change direction if it is to survive Olmert's fiasco.

All my newspapers say that the UN will not disarm hezbullah & will not man Syrian border to interdict arms! UN forces will prevent Israel from entering lebanon to punish and disarm Hezbullah. Therefore, Hexbullah can re-arm with un protection.

We'd all respect you more if you just owned up to what a hash you and the other 2 monkeys made of the recent Lebanon war and how badly you let down the IDF forces. Resign and in future let real military men make the decisions not 'heroic poseurs'.

B.Netanjyahu? He did know, that war was coming! Who will have peace without weapons? I! Yes, we did this "peace without weapons" discuss at my youth, but state was against this... in europe, in germany! And Israel are not germany, Islam is not peace without weapons! When Israel want to lost his souverenity, yes, they must have "peace without weapons"!

Really now, the border beween Lebanon and Syria is wide open, and will always remain wide open. Hezbollah probably has replenished the stock pile of katyusha's, and may have acquired new weaponry. The U.N. will NOT oversee the Lebanese-Syrian border. The so-called siege leaves hundreds of miles along the Syrian border open for amrs smuggling. The purpose of the siege is so that Olmert saves a little face in front of the Israelis (obviously it's not working). The siege does NOT have any strategic importance. The siege only affects the Lebanese civilian population, and only adds to the global "war criminal" image that Israel has acquired in this war.

The real tragedy in this war is that hizbullah was not destroyed, and that rockets fell into Israel until the last day. Perhaps the damage done to hizbullah will indeed last, at least the loss of territory and the multinational force will equate to a loss of face for them. Iran must have used this as a probe and experiment to determine Israeli response, methods and weaknesses. Beware of Iran.

dears brothers and sisters, i'm sorry but olmert is right... All he spoke about is right...but he is only several months in advance...wait and see, he's true. However, he asked not to be too optimistic, and he did not tell really anything about the REAL danger...Hezb's danger is out, read the libanese press, as "l'orient le jour", but Iran's one is growing.. that is the question, now, for the wholesome world...

I can't see many wrong words of his person. It can be, he is the best PM today.... for his nation. Failure by IDF are not his area.... He is since three month PM! Look to Bush! He was President and two towers were destroyed, what had Bush to do ???

Olmert/Peretz/Livni together do not have the decency and respect of a worm. For Olmert to deliver such a blatant spin blabber after the Lebanon fiasco indicates he has not respect whatsoever for the intelligence of the average Israeli, and certainly does not have the decency to resign. For now, we need to be more afraid of our own leaders than we need to fear Hizbullah or Hamas. They can only attack us. Olmert/Peretz/Livni appear intent on destroying us and have the capability to do so through their own bungling incompetence.
