This article is a nice try at putting a happyface spin on a very messy situation. The tank's defenses against man-carried modern anti-tank missles is lacking BTW: Both the Hezbollah government representatives in Lebanon and the Hamas representatives in Palestine were chosen by the people in a free and honest election. The entire organization of the northern battle saw huge numbers of armored equipment waiting massing at the border and basically waiting patiently in line like ducks in a shootong gallery. The real damage came from the monumentally indecisive leadership which stalled the armour on the borders. Get rid of those leaders and in particular Plmert Peretz and Peres. These did more harm to our soldiers and armour than the Hezbollah missiles.

I think that the reason the commander said what he said is that he needs recruits for the tank forces - but few will volunteer without knowing that the government has given the tanks they serve in the best protection available.
