1. No Surprise Here
Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (08.30.06)
If they don't follow the resolutions, then Israel shouldn't have too. Leave the blockade and slowly choke the country. Let them build and destroy it again. Next time there will be European and western armies to confront as well. Lebanon is a great staging area to attack Syria, we are already in Afghan and Iraq, so strategically the allies are in good locations. If there military is so strong, why don't they remove the blockade. As long as lebanon supports and harbors a terrorist organization, and the citizens cheer, I have no remorse for civilian damage, just as these groups have no remorse for beheading innocent kidnapped civilians, you kill them cause they are american, we kill you cause you support terror. Tit for tat, lets see who wins.
2. WHO WOULD BENEFIT IF IRAN AND ISRAEL NUKED EACHOTHER ? SAUD?

4. Ishmael and Edom playing out on a global stage...
Norway   (08.30.06)
Edom is providing Ishmael with weapons... For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as a hearth. My heart is smitten like grass, and withered; for I forget to eat my bread... . I am like a pelican of the wilderness; I am become as an owl of the waste places. I watch, and am become like a sparrow that is alone upon the housetop. Mine enemies taunt me all the day; they that are mad against me do curse by me... But Thou, O L*RD, sittest enthroned for ever; and Thy name is unto all generations. Thou wilt arise, and have compassion upon Zion; for it is time to be gracious unto her, for the appointed time is come. For Thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and love her dust. So the nations will fear the name of the L*RD, and all the kings of the earth Thy glory; When the L*RD hath built up Zion, when He hath appeared in His glory; When He hath regarded the prayer of the destitute, and hath not despised their prayer. This shall be written for the generation to come; and a people which shall be created shall praise the L*RD. For He hath looked down from the height of His sanctuary; from heaven did the L*RD behold the earth; To hear the groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to death; That men may tell of the name of the L*RD in Zion, and His praise in Jerusalem; When the peoples are gathered together, and the kingdoms, to serve the L*RD... The children of Thy servants shall dwell securely, and their seed shall be established before Thee.
5. HIZBOLLAH DOESN'T NEED TO ARM
Lebanese ,   Lebanon   (08.30.06)
cause last 6 years Hizbollah prepared for a long time war for several months against israel & Hizbollah knew that IAF will cut all the roads of supplying so all weapons are still existing & ready for 2nd round & maybe 3rd one if there will be a need though i think that no need will be for 3rd round

9. And we are to be surprised.
freedom ,   canada   (08.30.06)
This is a total disregard for any UN resolutions. The whole reason for the ceasefire was that Lebanon was to disband Hizbullah. That is the ceasefire was a surrender on the part of the Lebanese people and the government. Well, now it would seem there is no agreement on the ceasefire terms, that is the ceasefire is meaningless. Nothing has changed in the region.
10. Next Round Against Israel
Rick ,   Ocala FL USA   (08.30.06)
These Islamofascists have so completely misread Israel's capabilities -- when the 'next round' comes, as it surely will - may Israel have the fortitude, leadership and institutional attention span to soundly and completely destroy this enemy and may Annan be in the wrong place at the wrong time when it starts.. -- a little friendly fire may be just what the doctor ordered.
11. that guy look like a criminal who got our of jail today !!!

perpetualdream ,   jerusalem   (08.30.06)
I guess hizbullah should give israel some schooling here.... all the world has seen what happened with israel's elite unit.... they've already turned lebanon into dust and yet their casualties were increasing day after day at war! hello! and yet u r saying israel would blabla! how dare u? I guess a 2nd round means hizbullah will start occupying land in northern israel! ISRAEL SHOULD COMPILE WITH THE UN RESOLUTIONS IN ORDER NOT TO TRIGEER HIZBULLAH ANGER... OTHERWISE.... GOD KNOWS WHAT'S GOING 2HAPPEN... ;)
16. 2nd round will be you end

18. Alex, Give me a clue
Aros Bin Solaris ,   Qatif   (08.30.06)
IDF is too weak to win any war... unless they are trading stocks online like Halutz
19. Iranian perspective on all means...
Steve ,   USA   (08.30.06)
B"H It is an interesting perspective that "must not save any effort to obtain all of the means to defend himself. We are convinced that there still danger and the situation has not yet been solved." This is revealing. Iran is obtaining nuclear technology that is capable of making a nuclear weapon. Heavy water reactors are the technology step to nuclear armament. "Defense", last time, meant kidnapping Israeli solidiers, an act of war, which then Israel followed-through on. My read on it is that Iran is pursuing very rapidly nuclear technology to shoot against Israel. Is not that what Fars, al-Din said, reading in-between the lines? Admitedly the missiles would not just be aimed at Israel, as the range could encompass other places. Israel is just the testing ground to be a show of Iranian potence so that it can intimidate the rest of the world in its jihad campaign. Also, it is ironic that from Iran, al-Din is quoted as saying: "Regarding UN Resolutions 1559 and 1701, calling for, among others, the disarmament of Hizbullah, Sif Al-Din said that his organization had no intention of disarming, as the issue was an internal Lebanese one." If it is internal, why is he commenting on it from Iran? The reason is that it is spun as internal but really an Iranian posture in the Middle East and Europe as far as I can tell. Quote: In an interview with the Iranian news agency Fars, al-Din said: "No one can promise us that Israel won't attack again. Whoever lives as a neighbor to the Zionist regime is in danger and must not save any effort to obtain all of the means to defend himself. We are convinced that there still danger and the situation has not yet been solved. We must, all the time, prepare ourselves for self-defense and to plan for the next stage."
20. The clarity and directness
Nicolaus ,   San Francisco, USA   (08.30.06)
Without invoking rubrics about 'terror' and 'terrorists' and invoking memories of the painful history of the jews, NO Israeli politician, commentator, publicist or journalist has been able to present Israel's case with the clarity, directness and appeal as the representatives of Hizbullah were able to - including the one above - do. Is this another symptom of the tired old state unable to pull itself together, or that Hizbullah is right?
21. To #10 (Next Round Against Israel) and others
Nicolaus ,   San Francisco, USA   (08.30.06)
With that attitude, the next time round would be an unmitigated disaster for Israel. Wake up. The last SIX encounters of Israel with the Arabs did not exactly end up nice! 1973 Israel proved to be asleep, four wars in the Lebanon proved Israel cannot even hold onto the land it presumed it occupied. The sixth one, was a joke. Get in for a hundred yards, then run back into Israel. SO let's call the chopers and have landings behind Hizbullah lines - and this was done in the last two days of the war... and Israel lost 18 tanks, a chopper and 40 dead - according to the Indepnedent of London... So run back torn, broken and angry. So, cool it. There is not alternative to peace, or go over to Israel and fight instead of pushing young Israelis to die for your murderous dreams.
22. Who would benefit if Iran and Israel nuked each other? Saud?
Abu Abraham Josiah ,   World Citizen   (08.30.06)
Ryan of Calgary, organizations such as Al Qaeda and Hezbollah would benefit. The chaos left in the Gap would be an opportunity for non-state rogue organizations to increase power base and political range. Those who would not benefit would be those murdered by the nukes. Get a grip, son.
23. 2nd Round?
stude ham ,   outremont, quebec   (08.30.06)
Does the hizzie believe that all this is just like a boxing match in which the fight goes on till someone is knocked out? The next round is Israel's purely and simply. Israel's major problems lay in the absolute slovenliness of its political leaderships and its spy networks. Now that it all came out the hizzies will be burnt toast if they try anything again because Israel has the very nasty habit of learning from its mistakes.
24. #2: andrew : Two will benefit:
fadi ,   lebanon   (08.30.06)
1. The civilization and human kind as they would have got rid of israel 2. THe US ... more arms sails... more jobs in the US.... more US forces required for stability in the region etc... So keeep it going andrew.. please tell ur fellow americans to support Bush company the republicans in mid term elections !!!
25. Re: #18
Snir ,   NYC   (08.30.06)
I know you cant actually believe the IDF is weak. The IDF was fighting with its arms and legs tied behind its back thanks to the Government and the international community. Hopefully someone who is a real leader will step up and WHEN rounds 2 does happen. You will realize why all of the Arabs fear the IDF and will fear Israel forever.
26. always ready
mo ,   montreal,Qc   (08.30.06)
from their experience with Israel, lebanon and the lebanese resistance has to be always ready for their attacks against the civilian. and with a world who can hardly say anything to Israel, there is no one who can defend lebanon against the Israel terrorists better then the lebanese resistance.
27. #26, Mo, are you that stupid???
DR ,   Florida, USA   (08.30.06)
Did you not see what happened to beirut and southern Lebanon? Do you really think that Hezballah will ever beat the IDF in a war? Many people in Lebanon want Hezballah to leave, but they are too weak to do anything about it. So what are your people always ready for??? To have their whole city be destroyed, to watch innocent people die becuase hezballah cowards are hiding in their home, what? you're an idiot!!!
28. #13, Eric
Alex ,   Washington, DC   (08.30.06)
Eric, you sure sound very tough and intelligent sitting behind your computer in your home or office...wanting to "turn the south into dust and Beirut into a garbage dump". Don't forget, dear friend, that if you were hoping for were ever to happen, the war won't be limited to south Lebanon and Israel...every lunatic, like yourself, will become fair game and targets throughout the world will turn into dust along with your own shelter and the south. If you think, the Lebanese are just going to sit there and be pulverized, you are DEAD WRONG!! And Just a little reminder to you, my friend, Hizbullah is more Lebanese than all the other "good lebanese" you are referring to...you just want to use your shameful stupid words to demonize an organization that stands for its people and won't be corrupted by the U.S. government, like the the many other arab contries who are mere puppets in the hands of Bush. One last thing....if you think that Hizbullah looks dumb, just remember that he outsmarted you and Israel during the war...so you and those you seem to speak highly of, must be DUMBER!!!
29. a second round
eugenie ,   jerusalem   (08.30.06)
Well, if Hezbos prepare for a second round, this is what Israel will have to do: 1) War zone is a restricted military area (same as US did in Iraq). 2) Get rid of all ambulances in Lebanon, to make sure Green Helmet (so shamelessly featured in yesterday's report on the news coverage of the first round) is taken out. 2) UNIFIL is the enemy: www.theweeklystandard.com What did you do in the war, UNIFIL? You broadcast Israeli troop movements. by Lori Lowenthal Marcus 09/04/2006, DURING THE RECENT month-long war between Hezbollah and Israel, U.N. "peacekeeping" forces made a startling contribution: They openly published daily real-time intelligence, of obvious usefulness to Hezbollah, on the location, equipment, and force structure of Israeli troops in Lebanon. UNIFIL--the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, a nearly 2,000-man blue-helmet contingent that has been present on the Lebanon-Israel border since 1978--is officially neutral. Yet, throughout the recent war, it posted on its website for all to see precise information about the movements of Israeli Defense Forces soldiers and the nature of their weaponry and materiel, even specifying the placement of IDF safety structures within hours of their construction. New information was sometimes only 30 minutes old when it was posted, and never more than 24 hours old... Meanwhile, UNIFIL posted not a single item of specific intelligence regarding Hezbollah forces... http://www.theweeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/012/622bqwjn.asp 3) Finish Hezob's off! Inshallah!!!
