1. Khatami
LK ,   madison wisconsin   (09.03.06)
on 26 May 1984 Khatami as minister of cultural guidance headed a meeting that resulted in establishing a strike force in Lebanon under Revolutionary Guard guidance including members prepared for suicidal missions. In September 1998 Khatami linked Zionism and racism during his UN speech. See the article, The "New" Russia and Iranian Moderates in Midstream April 1999. Also see August 24, 2006 Frontpage magazine Kenneth Timmerman-Say No to Khatami. No word about his terror activities or why the Chicago Jewish Federation might object to Khatami in the Associted Press article of course.
2. If you want to change the world ....
Hans-Jörg Marby ,   Markdorf, Germany   (09.03.06)
stop "ignorance and blunder and the domination of arrogant, warmongering and violence-triggering policies" of your extremists. Easy, isn´t it?
3. Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
TD ,   London, UK   (09.03.06)
The guy is a fraud. He should never have been allowed into the US. Khatami reserves his conciliatory tone for gullible foreign diplomats, parliamentarians, and academics. He speaks with a far different voice in Farsi to his domestic audience. In a televised address on October 24, 2000, for example, he declared, "In the Koran, God commanded to kill the wicked and those who do not see the rights of the oppressed. . . . If we abide by human laws, we should mobilize the whole Islamic World for a sharp confrontation with the Zionist regime. . . . If we abide by the Koran, all of us should mobilize to kill." (AEI) Don't worry, Khatami - your time is coming to an end. Soon.
4. Khatami thinks he talks for idiots
Casiopea   (09.03.06)
You are financing terrorism worldwide. The 11/9 attacks came first. And before this, your followers and the people like you were massacring people everywhere.
5. If you consider that...
fadi ,   lebanon   (09.03.06)
many Lebanese are totally ignorant and follow blindly their racist, anti-jew bosses then its easy to understand why we love this guy (not to mention the fact that i am a loser). does anyone else agree with that? lol ;-)
7. 5
Ahmad ,   Beirut   (09.03.06)
Its totally true i agree with you.
8. Kathami doesn't talk to idiots
Bancor ,   Genoa, Italy   (09.03.06)
Khatami has been, and still is, the best Iranian leader after the fall of Shah Pahlavi's regime. And it's a pity that western democracies did so little to help him in the difficult transition of Iranian society towards our way of life, or at least towards a democratic system, allowing instead the buildup of Ahmadinejad. So, may be there are idiots, as Casiopea says, but she had to seek first of all in her house, before to open her mouth. If we don't care of these opportunities, we have only another chioce: the war. Do Casiopea and other sharp-minded love better this last one?

In another post, on another sheet, you were talking about WWII partisans fighting against the Nazis. So now you are a supporter of Islam? The Shah's regime did not fall, it was ousted by khomeini. And khatami is no better, he is only better actor, more adept at showing the world a from of light-Islam. US actions trigger terrorism = a woman is guilty she is raped. This is Islam in action: noiri.blogspot.com - scroll down and click on the angry smiley or the skull beneath it. This is jihad, this is what Iran, Hezbollah and Hassam are all about. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1432100742477106895&q=obsession
10. Khatami your policies have supporting terrorism.
Johnson ,   USA   (09.03.06)
I cannot believe Bush allowed this evil puppet master on our soil without arresting him and packing him off to Club GITMO. This is very soil our troops have died to protect from this madmans regime, and others like him. How much American blood is on your hands, Khatami? I generally support President Bush but this has got me spitting mad.

I'm not a supporter of Islam at all. I'm a quite laic person, and I don't like connection or confusion between the religion and the state, and this is the worst fault of Islam and islamic countries (and not only...). I know how the Sha's regime fell, and yust then I had to blame our european media enthusiastic with the incruent "revolution" that brought the ayatollah's to the power. What I sustain is that Khatami is right when he says that an unwise way to fight terrorism cause its intensification; All we can see that it's true, so we need to change approach to it. And I confirm that Khatami is by far "the best of the worst", if you can accept my calembour. He's not my ideal, but as we cannot chose our opponents, let's help who is a bit better than others: and in lack of western support to Khatami at the time of presidential elections won by Ahmadinejad, I view a capital mistake of western democracies. Don't you agree?
12. Humongous Freaking Liar!
malcolm   (09.03.06)
The purpose of international terrorism especially Iranian, is to establish a fascist totalitarian caliphate. Iran’s is to be based on the violent Shiah version of Islam. Al Qaida's is based on violent Wahabi Suni Islam. He came here to shore up support with Muslim Americans, and get sympathy from US journalists. And the biggest fish he’s after is the far left and their target audience, students. These are the future American followers (voters) and leaders (policy makers). He is using his image as a "moderate" to confuse the enemies of Iranian clerics, which he represents. His former boss, Ayatollah Khomeini, call the US "The Great Satan" and created the boiler plate for what we have today. It’s Time to blow the lid on this charade. Start here: http://www.matthiaskuentzel.de/contents/ahmadinejads-world http://jihadwatch.org/
13. As usual, like little kids, they blame everyone else...
Yonatan ,   USA   (09.03.06)
The muslims here are much smarter. They aren't going to buy his garbage. We are proud of our muslims.

No, I don't quite agree. For argument's sake let us agree that the media, the politicians and the general public are three separate entities whose interests do not always match. Media outlets are no longer even trying to report, instead they have become policemen, judges and executioners - and are serving interests other than exposing politicians' corruption and incompetence (I know this is very simplified but this is not a PhD thesis, plus there is a 4000 character limit). Sometimes politicians own news agencies and media outlets in order to be better served by journalists who are thus turned into lacqueys. What we have seen lately, especially is Gaza and Lebanon is journalists who are taking active part in the conflict. Every conceivable forgery and staging is pouring out of these conflicts with the sole purpose of distorting the truth and serving the interests of terrorist groups and ultimately of Islamo-fascism. You say Khatami was the lesser evil, well, I beg to differ. First of all, I was also around when the Shah's regime was toppled. Secondly, I cannot forget the Ceausescu regime in Romania. He was also considered the lesser evil, but that was just a role he played, in order to dupe the Western world. In fact his was the most despicable and corrupt communist dictatorship in Europe. Let us not forget that Arab propaganda is the heir of the Nazi-Soviet line - rabid antisemitism, the denial of Jewish rights, and that all of it is based on lies. Lies that they repeat so often and artfully, that people begin to believe them and forget history and facts. Khatami is who they want you to perceive as moderate, because they need someone to communicate with the Western world, especially America, and to give false hope. In fact he is a wolf in sheep's clothing, just as evil if not worse than the rest of them. All these clerics should be confined to their mosques, and closely monitored for the venom they are spewing and the hatred they are insilling into their followers. Let us not forget that Iran (in the name of Islam) allows for public hangings, publing stonings to death, and all kinds of ther horrors, things that were common in Medieval Europe when the Catholic Church reigned supreme and innocent people were burnt at the stake. This is the Dark Age of Islam and should be recognized as such and condemned, not encouraged. I think that not until long ago, the Taliban used to organize public hangings of women in football fields, instead of the Sunday games - yes, a sort of national sport. So no, the answer to your question is no. No good can come out of the current leadership. They are only leading their country, if not the entire region (possibly even beyond the region) to doom.
15. that's right, smart people
esther ,   raanana   (09.03.06)
that's right, he is recruiting what Lenin labelled "useful idiots". Blame it on the victim, so you can screw the victim and everybody else. Thank goodness for instant communication. Everything is out in the open now.
16. idiots
toni ,   sab me   (09.03.06)
this speaker comes from a country that attacked our embassy and kept captive our diplomats for over a year he should be thankfull that we the us didnt solve that problem back then due to many reasons mistakes are always made but there use of religion as a way to ameans is disgusting and so transparent ican only come to the cpnclusion that the world must be deaf dumb and blind
17. To esther, once again
Bancor ,   Genoa, Italy   (09.03.06)
Dear Esther, I regret you imagined me a slave of arab propaganda and newspapers. I read indeed only European newspapers, I look at Italian TV, I read ONLY Israeli newspapers online, and I try to get my vision of your situation, that - you know - involves we too. You have a different vision; it's legitimate, and you may be right. By the way, I can agree with you on several (not all) of your considerations. But I think: even if the things are so sad, how can we escape from that terrible choice that is war? And even if we seem to be forced to do the war, is it better to try finding a compromise or not? I think it's better, looking to the history of my country and Europe: do you think that all Italians, and our Government too, were so happy to join together with Germany on 1950, for the future goal of European Union, only 5 years after the end of the war, where hundred of thousands of us were brutally killed by Nazis? Certainly not, but we did, looking for our future, forcing us to set apart the past, even if it was plenty of mournings. This was the goal of my post, I hope you and your people will eventually agree and try to find peace without the need to make the war. (I apologize for my poor english).
18. POSITIVE SIDE OS KHATAMI'S VISIT
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (09.03.06)
Short sightedness is what is causing to read the type of talk-back that one reads after Khatami's visit. We should look at it positively........else the American Government and the strong and influential Jewish lobby in the USA would NOT have approved and granted him the visa.
19. So much claptrap.
Persian CAT   (09.03.06)
II would agree with all you about what is wrong about the Iranian mollahcracy if you were not so one-sided and bigoted no matter how articulate you try to be. You reveal your bigotry loud and clear by saying "In fact he is a wolf in sheep's clothing, just as evil if not worse than the rest of them". Who are "them". I let you answer that question, although I know exactly who you're referring to. Here's my point, and I hope you can get past your bigotry and agree with me on this one. Both Islamism and Zionism, as two political/religious fascist movements have to be eradicated for the Jews and Muslims to be able to live together in peace - it has happened before and it can happen before. Compare these two extremist/terrorist movements to crime gangs, let's say the Bloods and Crips which are two well-known gangster groups in LA. Now if we intend to eradicate gang-related crimes in LA we have to eliminate both. Eliminating the Crips and leaving the Bloods intact will make the situation worse, not to mention that the Bloods will go on a killing rampage left unchecked. Are you with me? Your problem is you want the Crips (Islamist) gone, but the Bloods (the Zionists) left free to steal other people's land, terrorize them and subjugate them. Now if you choose to characterize the international condemnation of the Zionist terror as a lies, propaganda and "rabid antisemitism" go ahead and fool yourself even more. The facts are out there and the people of the world see Israel's savagery and inhumane actions with their own naked eyes. As for your comment about the "dark days of Islam", I can only laugh. Since when a Zionist who lives in place called "raanana", which your parents stole from some defenseless Arabs, can judge what stage Islam is? Is there a limit to your arrogance? I think not. By the way do you see killing, terrorizing, stealing land and bombing civilians as the Bright Day of Jeudaism. Go figure.
20. My comments were addressed to Esther.
Persian CAT   (09.03.06)
sorry if I missed to mention that in my post.
21. to Bancor, Italy

Europe made peace with the Germans, not the Nazis. The Nazis were defeated in a devastating war (devastating for the entire world). At the end of the war they either commited suicide or were captured and tried for war crimes. I am against war. But I am also against being threatened with nuclear arms. Israel never threatened Iran with annihilation. Israel is not run by fanatic clerics. Oh yes, we have our own, but we try to restrict them when they talk through their hats. And if we do not like the government, we vote someone else instead. I think the Palestinians should reign in their terror, it is only getting them killed, not only us. And your English is fine, I wish I could speak Italian (and write!!) as well as you write English. I think that other than that we almost agree. Thank you for the nice conversation, perhaps we meet again on other topics.

Sorry, but your message is so full of lies and hatred, that I have trouble understanding it, and to reply would take me volumes. A few points however: I do not believe that Israel was created by divine intervention, rather it's declaration of independence (from the British mandate) was ratified by the UN, along with the creation of Jordan, on what was the province of Palestine in the Ottoman Empire. The fact that no Arab state recognized that partition and kept waging wars is history. Some Arab states however, have accepted and have signed peace treaties with us. Other states have accepted us de facto. I am a secular person, and such religious fanaticism as sported by the iranian leaders frightens me. By "them" I meant religious figures who instead of preaching for peace are brandishing swords (nuclear at that). Personally, I have noting against the Iranians. I even hear that they have the best food in the world. My parents or I did not steal anything from anybody, we bought everything with hard-earned cash. Much of the land of Israel was purchased by a public fund or by Baron Hirsch or the Rothschilds from the rightful landlords. An to make you even happier,I am only posting from Raanana, I actually live in Jerusalem, Zion as we call it.
23. #19 END ARAB OCCUPATION. JEWISH REFUGEES must have JUSTICE
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (09.04.06)
56 Muslim countries. Only one Jewish state. 22 HUGE, oil-wealthy Arab countries cover over six million square miles, over ten percent of the land surface of earth. TINY, over-crowded Israel, only one tenth of one percent of the Middle East. Stop the land grab of Jewish land! Radical Leftists, racists, human rights destroyers, IslamoFascist religious supremacists seek to deny Jews the right to live in their Biblical heartland of Judea and Samaria because they are Jews and not Muslims. Around 1948, Arabs violently ethnically cleansed one million Jews from Arab countries. Arab governments seized the land, homes, bank accounts, businesses and assets of the Jews. Most Jewish refugees fled to Israel where the religious terror war against Jews never stops. It is unacceptable to Muslims for Jews to have self-rule. A bloody jihad that spans the globe. It is essential Arab countries compensate the Jewish refugees and their descendants - half of Israel's Jewish population - in land and finances. This urgent human rights issue must be discussed constantly with Road Map architects - U.S. EU, UN and Russia, and in homes, schools, social activities, cultural events and synagogues.
24. #19 RIGHT of RETURN of JEWS to ALL THEIR LAND
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (09.04.06)
Right of return is non-negotiable. All Jewish land stolen in the 1948 Islamic invasion must be returned. In 1948, Egypt invaded Gaza, ethnically cleansing all Jews. In 1948, Jordan invaded Judea, Samaria and east Jerusalem, ethnically cleansing all Jews. Jordan destroyed 58 sacred synagogues in Jerusalem. In 1967 when Israel won Islam's war of aggression against it, Jews returned to the areas of their homeland they had been ethnically cleansed from for 19 years. Fascists DECEITFULLY call this return "occupation". Under international law, territories are considered "occupied" only when taken in an act of aggression which does not apply to Israel. Judea, Samaria and Gaza are not 'occupied territories' according to international law because they were not taken from any foreign sovereign. The religious terror war against Jews never stops. It is unacceptable to Muslims for Jews to have self-rule in the tiny, re-born Jewish state. It is a bloody, global war to subjugate every nation to Islam, ruled by sharia law. The return to Jewish ownership of the land, homes, properties & businesses stolen from the Jews in the 1948 Islamic invasion is an urgent human rights issue requiring constant discussion with Road Map architects - U.S. EU, UN and Russia, and in homes, schools, social activities, cultural events and synagogues.
25. #19 Arabs Left Voluntarily at URGING of ARAB Leaders
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (09.04.06)
Arabs left voluntarily! Fully documented in book, "From Time Immemorial" by Joan Peters: In 1948, Arabs were told to leave by Arab leaders while the invading Arab armies would "purge the land of Jews." The Jewish Haifa Workers' Council issued an appeal to the Arab residents of Haifa: "For years we have lived together in our city, Haifa...Do not fear: Do not destroy your homes with your own hands...do not bring upon yourself tragedy by unnecessary evacuation and self-imposed burdens...But in this city, yours and ours, Haifa, the gates are open for work, for life and for peace for you and your families..."
26. #19 G-D is the GREATEST ZIONIST in the Universe
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (09.04.06)
G-D IS THE GREATEST ZI0NIST IN THE UNIVERSE! Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in the Hebrew Bible, not once in the Koran. Bible: Zechariah 1:14 'Thus says the L-RD of hosts, "I am exceedingly jealous for Jerusalem and Zion." A future day is coming when G-D will judge the enemies of Israel! Bible, Joel 3:2: "I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the valley of Jehoshaphat. Then I will enter into judgment with them there on behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; and they have divided up My land."
27. islamic fundamentalism
seer ,   finland   (09.04.06)
What comes to the Islamic fundamentalism, the Saudi Arabia is much worse (the only modern country which enforces the Sharia law fully) example than Iran. For some reason, not much twigs are being thrown at that direction but money... I wonder why..
