I do not believe that Britain will cease to exist physically, but it is changing rapidly from what it used to be. A friend returned from London last week with stories of the seething anger of the English man-in-the-street at the events that have occurred there. They blame the Muslims, though there is a vocal group that inexplicably blames the Jews. Most important, they are at a loss as to how to deal with all but the most blatant manifestations of threatened or real violence. They seem to believe contradictory things such as "all will be well when the Muslims see how pleasant English life is" and "we will have to take some undefined but major action to save our way of life." Olmert did not prosecute the war in Lebanon with ideal vigor, but he did go to war, revealing to the world the massive stockpiled pro-Iraninan and anti-Israel weapons of Hezbollah. Can any reasonable person doubt Hezbollah's intent and affiliation? Olmert also, in time and by practical test, revealed the shortcomings in Israel's defensive and offensive forces. Civil and missile defense are needed, and training and equipment for the IDF. Also, the alignment of the EU and UN were revealed. It is clear that Israel and perhaps its only ally, the US, must plan together. I hope plans and strategy between the two is already advanced.
