1. Islams biggest weapon is propaganda

2. Islams biggest weakness is Islam...
Nowhere Man ,   Metropolis, Zion   (09.05.06)
3. blogers
yerushalmi ,   jerusalem   (09.05.06)
Great. Now foreign ministry should invite prominent blogers, like Charles Johnson from Little green footballs, Helen Szamuely and Richard North from EU referendum, Michelle Malkin from hotair, zombie from zombietimes, and other prominent blogers that led the expose of media manipulation by jihadists.
4. alla wahad and bbc wahad
observer ,   israel   (09.05.06)
islams biggest enemy is propaganda.
5. Islams biggest weapon
Don ,   Sao Paulo   (09.05.06)
is that the "politicaly correct" part of the West is scared of them. The beheadings and the suicide bombers have been effective. Islam deserves everything that is coming to them. It is not by coincidence that anglo-saxons rule the world. It is not by coincidence that Israel can stand strong. And it won't be by coincidence that this new persian mini empire will get whacked.
6. Winning the media war
steve ,   USA   (09.05.06)
Our enemies can only win the international media war if our leaders fear the international media, which they obviously do. Therefore we need real leaders who do not fear the media and other bogymen.
7. PR FAILURE
Brant ,   Hilton Head USA   (09.05.06)
Considering the remarkably clear understanding the writer shows for the realities and nuances of the PR battle, the job he and his people have done is appallingly bad. Government leaders shoy their mouths off in a completely uncontrolled manner; messages were contradictory; Israel was caught, each day, by a new and better Lebanese and Hizb Allah PR surpise. If the Foreign Minister or Defence Minister had an ounce of Media training it did NOT show and the PM came across as an iconoclast trying to ingratiate himslef with courtly manners befitting not a leader but a man needing to borrow money. Israel has ALWAYS neglected the PR field. It has hired NY experts; it has used tactics and spokespeople of all kind. The only thing missing and still missing is a strategy. Learn from the Russians and the incredible lessons they taught the Palestinians about disinformation and denial. Spend as much time writing a strategy as you did writing this article and maybe Israel and the rest of us who care about Israel around the world will begin to win not just on the regular battlefield.
8. A LITTLE OBJECTIVITY PERHAPS....
Victor ,   Zurich, Switzerland   (09.05.06)
It appears that there utter confusion in the perception of foreign press coverage due to the total failure in understanding of objective and subjective coverage. What israelis want is the coverage by foreign media through israeli eyes i.e. subjective coverage which is already provided by israeli media itself. What foreign media does is to cover as the conflict is seen to the outside world i.e objective coverage. And then israelis are complaining that the foreign media taking its own decision and cover the conflict as it seen which for sure is different then israeli perception. Very curious phenomenon.
9. Ranan Gissin had a TV persona that Count Dracula appreciated
Alan ,   SA   (09.05.06)
I must say I believe that strictly from the" Televisiogenic" point of view Lt-Colonel Miri ,Hertzog,Mark Regev ,Bibi, the young American Accent IDF spokesman, Peres were all good . Doesnt matter their Politics in War.! Olmert made rash statements. Main point -avoid the poor English, shifty eyed Macho high pitched voices.eg Gissin. Israel MUST expose every fraudulent Media Action eg Red Cross Ambulance Hit, Smoke Plumes, Jennin Massacre Shots with rotting Sheep to make a smell, Terros falling off stretchers. etc . Media War is as important as the battlefield.
10. Amir Reshef-Gissin's delusions
Rustum ,   London, UK   (09.05.06)
So after 400 minutes of Israeli interveiws on CNN vs 30 minutes of Arab spokespeople (not a mention of the pro-Zionist bias here....), world public opinion still hasn't swung over to the golden myth of golden-haired and muscular David fighting the hairy barbarians at the door. Perhaps, and this is an issue which Mr R-Gissin and his colleagues seem to blind to, there is actually some right on the Arab/Palestinian/Islamic side and the campaign which he tries to portray as a manicheistic battle between good Israeli Jews and evil Arabs is nothing of the sort. Foreign Ministry spokespeople must by now have lips like dried prunes at being contronted time and time again with the images of the barbaric destruction wrought by their cannon-fodder soldiers who played out a computer game with real bombs and killed real people. The scurrilous comment about Lebanese dragging wedding dresses onto bomb sites to make a more dramatic effect can only be compared to those "searing" images we all saw of a supposed katyusha having landed in a school car park in Sderot - no explosion, no damage - but oh my, what a lot of wringing-hand Israeli almost victims we saw on the TV. The sad fact that Mr Reshef-Gissin ignores is that the state whose propaganda he creates and churns out is an anachronism, a tribal-based, settler state whose lands have been "legally" stolen by means of dubious land transfers from the ne'edarim and the ne'edraim nokhakhim, and whose authority can only last as long as it can prevent the indigenous inhabitants of the land from breeding.
11. more Kadima spin... these guys are worse than north korea
aaron ,   ra'anana   (09.05.06)
12. media is LEFT and scared of islamofascists
Helena ,   Stockholm; Sweden   (09.05.06)
Yes, it is imperative that Israel wins the media war but it is not easy and Israeli leaders are not the only ones to blame... Media everywhere (incl Israel is leftist or at least those media people who have the biggest mounths are leftists. Fox News alone cannot change this. Sweden where I live is one of the worst examples of yielding under pressure. So it was a nice surprise a couple of weeks ago seeing a regular guy who has been voting for the Leftist Party (former Communist Party) for years saying now: "not again ... these leftists go to bed with Hamas and Hizbollah, that is more than I can stomach..." So, go on, write letters to the media (that is what I am doing, having been published twice during the last two years - and I write ONLY politically INCORRECT articles. As we say it in Swedish - many small brooks make a river... And remember - it is up to you to act (and then hopefully others will join...). And you know what: WE WILL PREVAIL AGAINST ALL ODDS (regardless of what Islamonazis think)

Dr. NO ,   israel   (09.05.06)
Yes, I couldn't agree with you more. And as long as these tribes cannot even decide whether their true religion is Sunni, Shiya, Wahabi, Suffi, or whether they should worhip their prophet Muhammad, or Hussein ibn Ali, as long as they think they have the right to convert everyone else on this planet or else behead them live on al-Jazeera, they will be forever at each other's throats and the world shall not have peace. Funny how they suddenly came into focus with the advent of the oil culture and petrodollars. But as soon as an alternative source of energy is found, they shall go back to roaming the deserts with their goats and camels, their palaces fallen in ruins and their kingdoms turned to dust...
14. Amir Reshef-Gissin - any connection to Raanan Gissin?
Bruno ,   Haifa   (09.05.06)
If so, probably just a coincidence - or perhaps yet another example of the nepotism so prevalent in our government, and state-owned industries and organizations.
15. Calling the nuthouse, one of your patients is missing
George W ,   Chicago IL   (09.05.06)
Where to begin... Alright, first off, we had various hostage crises and hijackings throughout the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Then we had Al Qaeda kicking things up in the 1990s, followed by the murder of 3000 of our people on 9/11, plus various terror threats and plots since then. In other words, we didn't need your pissy little war/fiasco against Lebanon to figure out that Islamic terrorism is a problem. Fuck off. How dumb do you think we are? Second, you write as if the whole thing was manipulated. Sure there were a couple suspicious photos, but did you look at the originals? The photo with the two identical columns of smoke rising over Beirut, for example? Because the original of that photo looked just as bad, only with a slightly different smoke configuration. It's frankly baffling what the manipulator thought they were accomplishing. Point being, you write like the entire thing was made up. Here's the news; the international media showed a blown-apart Lebanon because YOU GUYS BLEW APART LEBANON. Do you seriously think that, after all that has happened to us, we not only are going to not see Islamic terrorists as a threat, but we will unquestioningly take their side in a conflict, even to the point of making up stories for them based on entirely faked evidence? Again, fuck off. How dumb do you think we are? Third, you yourself admit that Israeli spokesmen got tons more airtime than Arab spokesmen, and you're still whining about unbalanced coverage? I was closely watching the news during this war, and every single time rockets hit Israel CNN was there with live reports. I don't know how many different angles you can shoot the same house in Nahariya burning, but we got them all. If you think TV news ignored Israeli suffering, you must not have a TV. Again... well, you know. Amir Reshef-Gissin is a condescending son of a bitch.
16. ISRAEL'S PR IS A BUBBLE IN THE OCEAN
Knave Dave ,   Honolulu, Hawaii, US   (09.05.06)
Israel has had nothing to do with the West waking up to the reality of what radical Islam is all about. 9/11, madrid trains, London bombings and attempted air-craft bombings, as well as the continual drone of Islamic Fundamentalist rhetoric against the West and the high cost of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have all caused a shift in Western perception. Israel PR in the midst of such great forces is a bubble in the ocean! If Israel wants to be viewed as moderate and, therefore, credible, it has to start electing moderate AND CREDIBLE governments. Stop electing liars and people who march on Temple Mounts. Start living by what the UN has consistently told you for forty years you have to live by. Stop taking what has not been given to you. Stop thinking your cause will win because it is righteous. Stop thinking you're invincible. Take what has been given to you and nothing more. Then your cause will be righteous, and your actions will be purely self-defense. Then truth will be on the side of your PR. Truth will prevail over PR in time.
17. world is waking up
Dr. NO ,   jerusalem   (09.06.06)
Below are Australian PM Howard's quotes: ============================ "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another the Islamic law, that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option". Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians." "However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia." "However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand." "This idea of Australia being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle." "This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom" "We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society ... Learn the language!" "Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture." "We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us." "If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others. "This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'." "If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted."
