Yes Koffi is a real deal maker in the ME. Here is a transcript of his cell phone deal with Bashi the Syrian. Hello Bashi? Hi. I'm in town only for a few hours. Listen. We gotta make a deal. No no no. Not a real deal. Just a pretend deal. You pretend you are stopping Hezbollah from getting arms and heroin. Yes I know that is impossible for you to do. All you need is to pretend Bashi. Yes that's right. Tell the press you will do it. That will convince Al Qaeda you are serious. So you go ahead and pretend you are not an arms dealer. And I'll pretend I am a real world leader.
2. first syria says there are no arms crossing the border...
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.09.06)
now they say they will stop arms crossing the border. does baby assad have ANY credibility left, or has his conspiratorial hate for israel cloud his perception of reailty to the point of delusion?
3. Don't believe a word of it!
James Dudzik ,   Toledo Oho USA   (09.09.06)
Koffi and Assad lie to one another and actually think the rest of the world will believe it. Elephants can fly too!
4. This is Reassuring
Jewish American ,   USA   (09.09.06)
This is about as reassuring as when Hitler said he would not attack if given the Czech mountains. And I think we all know how that turned out.

John ,   NZ   (09.09.06)
and expects us to buy it. We may be powerless but definitely not stupid. So, when Kofi goes back to his office, he thinks he has achieved hell a lot. Fuck of the matter is, Syria is going to do exactly the opposite, ie arm Hizbollah again with even more deadly weapons and Kofi knows it. What the heck, he's leaving office, so he cut a deal with the devil to make him look good.

Who are you trying to fool? Who can trust that lying dictator of yours?. Never committed massacres against civilians? were trying to be funny by making a sarcastic comment? because you succeeded, that was a very laughable comment. Do not insult the intelligence of others, unless you are a deluded fool who believes the propaganda your media sells you.
13. Kofi the Monkey
Yossi ,   Los Angeles, CA   (09.09.06)
Kofi has figured out how to play out his anti-semetic game. Give Israel whatever Israel wants, like patrolling the Lebanese Syrian border to stop the rearmament of Hizbulah or building up the UNFIL army, do it - only do it with a twist - invite the Arabs to join in.
14. Syria to police border????
Ronnie ,   Gedera, Israel   (09.09.06)

Gabrielle Goldwater ,   Geneva Switzerland   (09.09.06)
Kofi is worse than Assad - since he lies even more than Assad and the western world pays Kofi's club money to survive Terrorism obviously pays - esp. for Kofi Kofi smell the Kofffi and think about Syria's track record - GO BACK TO 2001 State-Sponsored Terrorism Syria continued to provide safehaven and support to several terrorist groups, some of which maintained training camps or other facilities on Syrian territory. Ahmad Jibril's Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC), the Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ), Abu Musa's Fatah-the-Intifada, and George Habash's Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) maintained their headquarters in Damascus. The Syrian Government allowed HAMAS to open a new main office in Damascus in March, although the arrangement may be temporary while HAMAS continues to seek permission to reestablish its headquarters in Jordan. In addition, Syria granted a variety of terrorist groups--including HAMAS, the PFLP-GC, and the PIJ--basing privileges or refuge in areas of Lebanon's Bekaa Valley under Syrian control. Although Syria claimed to be committed to the peace process, it did not act to stop Hizballah and Palestinian rejectionist groups from carrying out anti-Israeli attacks. Damascus also served as the primary transit point for terrorist operatives traveling to Lebanon and for the resupply of weapons to Hizballah. Damascus appeared to maintain its longstanding ban on attacks launched from Syrian territory or against Western targets.

19. Is this some kind of sick joke?
(09.09.06)
Why in the world should we believe that a country who supplies Hezbollah will all of a sudden prevent them from getting weapons?
20. UNIFIL assited Hezbollah?
Mike ,   Geneva   (09.09.06)
A Genev-based human rights organization is callin on the UN to imvestigate alegations that UN forces in Lebanon provided onlin descriptions of IDF troop movements that aided Hez during the conflict. UN watch a non-goverment organization founded in 1993 to monitor UN compliance with its charter, said an investigation is necessary to determine whether the allegations of the UNIFIL collusion with HEzes. If true such conduct is unconcionable and raise troubling questions as to even handed police this area, just as more are being readied to deploy. Hillel Neuer, executece diretor of UN said evidence presented suggest UNIFIL was not the neutral observer it claims to be. He also claims that UNIFIL openly published daily real-time intelligence of obvious use-fulness to HEzes on the locatio equipment and force structure of the IDF. He noted that in 2000 Hezbo operatives wearing UNIFIL inignia and using UN marked trucks kinapped 3 IDF soliders. The UN admited this but refused in aiding the IDF in there investagations. The UN remains passive with the HEzebos thus rendering them ill-equiped with the mandate. " We are a waist of time and money" and this is coming from the UN WOW!!!!
21. How to turn this into a victory . . .
Steve G ,   Kew Gardens,NYC   (09.09.06)
The is a great opportunity to turn this into a victory for Israel. Israel must present PHOTOGRAPHIC proof that the Syrians are continuing to smuggle in arms. This will prove that Assad and Annan are lying and show that Resolution 1701 is being seriously violated by Hezbollah, Iran and Syria. It is the type of proof that wins world opinion. Grumbling on Debka that "we have proof" is believed by no-one. A picture of 18 wheelers filled with missiles is undeniable. Just as PHOTOS of missiles being fired from Lebenese civilian areas would have done wonders for Israel during the fighting (I saw exactly one), pictures of arms smuggling will be devastating to the structure of lies being spun by the UN and the Arabs. I find it hard to believe how badly Israel has managed to screw up the publicity battles. This one, though not easy to do, is really simple to understand.
22. & Hezbollah is Iran's UN peacekeeping troop contribution.
D- ,   San Diego, USA   (09.09.06)
Really. The announcement is pending. Kofi is restraining himself from just blurting it out. You know he's excited, because it is a sure thing that the idea will instantly take off in the media. Also, I want to point out to all of the Western leaders who supported the UN peacefire solution that the word "gullible" is not in the dictionary.
23. Can anyone believe those two liars?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.09.06)
