7. Question for Beilin about 194
TM (jewlicious.com) ,   jewlicious.com   (09.11.06)
UNGAR 194 is one of the bedrocks of the agreements you've promoted, including the Saudi-led initiative from 2002. While you seem to read that clause as a positive, many people disagree and view it as the essential clause that would enshrine the so called "right of return" into a legal obligation of Israel's. In other words, while currently Israel can justifiably deny that a right to return exists, once 194 is embedded into any signed agreement, it will become the prevailing clause in this matter and can very well be read to mean that all Palestinian refugees have a right of return. If you go by UNWRA's definition of refugee, this means the effective end of Israel as a Jewish state within a few years. Why isn't it possible to have an agreement that rejects 194 altogether? Why is it that your reading of this clause is benign while it seems to be a foundational underpinning of what the Arabs seek from Israel?
8. Beilin
David ,   Montreal`   (09.11.06)
This is the fool that brought us Oslo and the Intifada. Israel is a free country and any idiot should have the right to speak, however, I sure hope that nobody listens to this one, this time around.
9. #2: except his EU paymasters, and of course Yasser AbedRabbo
Former Belgian ,   Greater Tel Aviv   (09.11.06)
10. Fellow Jews: Seek peace
Mark ,   USA   (09.11.06)
You need an attitude adjustment. You are thinking doom and gloom. Think peace Have hope. Come on people.
11. What is the alternative?
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
No Israel, more anti-semitism worlwide, WWW III I prefer a peaceful solution. The problem needs to be solved. Stop complaining and work for peace.
12. My New Year Wish
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
Peace
13. Beilin the greatest appeaser
Michael ,   Hollywood   (09.12.06)
Amazing. The same leftist who has de-legitimized Israel as a state continues to peddle his same self-hating, appeassement. How many Israelis have to pay (with their lives) the price for his utopian fantasies. even after 15 years of Oslo he still thinks he is smarter than everyone else. typical leftist, eurocentric, anti-Israeli attitude.
14. Beilin, do you not feel at all responsible ???
Aaron ,   Ra'anana   (09.11.06)
for the almost 4000 israelis killed by terrorism since Oslo ??? Do you ever consider that giving guns to the PLO and a mini-state to base their operations from could have been a bad move for Israel, and one which was in fact counterproductive to Peace ??? What conclusions can you draw based on the 13 years since Oslo was signed ???
15. More Stupidity
RS   (09.11.06)
What do yo expect from the same person who gave us the Oslo accords, Geneva agreement and every other appeasement based policy. IF his idea is enacted (and I am sure the Leftist Media will promote it) we should start ordering rations for the bomb shelters and many tachrichim!
16. Pure hooey......
KGS59 ,   Finland   (09.12.06)
Beilin had a ring side seat to the greatest display of Arab intransigence ever seen in the three ring circus of Palestinian politics. He has learned absolutely nothing from the Camp David talks in 2000 and in Taba. His cohort, fellow Meretz MK, Avshalom Vilan was recently in Helsinki pedaling his dillusional wares of "peace talk" with the moderates (while overlooking the hardcore Islamists that rule the roost). I sat with theother 40-50 invited guests, and found Vilan's proposals completely outside the realm of rational thinking and reason. Word of advice, there is solid reasoning behind the phrase, no sense kicking a dead horse, but Meretz "goodists", keep on kicking that dead Norwegian horse. It's not by accident that they're not taken seriously.
17. there are no sane arabs
faluja   (09.12.06)
just look at iraq and lebanon.
18. NOBODY CARES WHAT THIS NUTTER THINKS
(09.12.06)
19. What makes you think land for peace works?
Zionist ,   Israel   (09.12.06)
We've tried it, tried again, and kept trying, but to no avail. Saying "well, it didn't work every time we've tried it, but maybe it'll work this time" is called burying your head in the sand. Einstein said that the definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results. Beilin definately belongs in a looney bin.
20. To Mark #3
Zionist ,   Israel   (09.12.06)
There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home...
21. I second Mr. Beilin's words
Michael Steiner   (09.12.06)
Time is running out for a solution to be found. US supremacy in the world is being eroded and once we lose their support, we'll be up a creek. Either we'll participate as an equal partner in forging a final resolution or one will be forced on us one day. I prefer the former. This initiative is the most groundbreaking move to have come from the Arab side since the beginning of the conflict decades ago. Let's roll.
22. I do not want a third intifada!!!!
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
The problem will only get much worse if it is not solved. Diaspora Jews will pay a heavy price. Anti-Israel Sentiment and Anti-Semitism is at an all time high since WW II. I do not want to pay the price.
23. I agree with you Michael Steiner.
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
For 58 years we have been waiting for this. We should be celebrating that they made a peace offer and what do you do? complain, complain, complain, complain, complain Jews are their own worst enemy at times. Stop complaining. Listen to Michael.
24. #19 International Peacekeeping Force
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
Make the UN do something constructive. The world wants this problem solved. The world has suffered because this conflict was never resolved in 1948. We have all paid a price. A terrible bloody price.
25. A home of peace is a home for me.
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
Peace will increase the economy, tourism, and aliyah. Peace benefits all. Mr. Zionist, #20, things have changed since Golda Meir died. Moshe Dayne is not Prime Minister. Sharon is in a coma and you need to wake up and smell the coffee. I will make aliyah when there is peace. Zionism has progressed.
26. #17 Are there any sane Jews?
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
Am I the only one?
27. Beilin pedling Arabian plan
Alex ,   LA, USA   (09.12.06)
He has no shame. As soon as he gets his stuff, he comes back to Arabian plan. The guy just care only about money for his family. Nothing else, amd Arabs know this very well.
28. yes, but it must be an effort that is also cultural
Gil ,   UK   (09.12.06)
http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3275133,00.html Yossi, We can provide the cultural cement of your political bricks.
29. #27 Got a better plan? Please tell.
Mark ,   USA   (09.12.06)
At least he has a plan. Give him credit. I do. It beats war.
30. They're Afraid
Bereleh ,   Canada   (09.12.06)
The Arabs are suddenly talking peace because they're afraid of Iran and Hizb'Allah and what they'll do in their countries. Too bad. Let them kill each other. No more pretend peace or peace stemming from a transient situation. thejewishvoice.net
