Yea, go professor. Military option is a big loser. We need some new ideas. Iran is being very calculating, they know if we attack we lose, and they figured this into the equation.
62. "Before we bomb Iran " Prof Yossi Yona
Kemp ,   Nahariya Israel   (09.18.06)
Spare us from another academic who maybe long on brains but zero common sense. Get real ! Europe is stuffed full of "Chamberlains" .The West (not including the U.S) would still be talking to Iran as the nuclear missiles are in the air. All that is after Israel has been targetted. The quicker Iran is hit the better and hit hard preferably when all the rats are in the same cage as well as their nuclear sites.

Mutually assured Destruction (MAD) may have worked in the west during the cold war. All sides had too much to lose. In a culture where whole families become suicide bombers, where death in the name of God is a desirable goal. Where a significant proportion of the population live in poverty and have nothing to lose, but salvation and eternity to gain, M.A.D. is a non starter. The bombs are almost guaranteed to fall on Israel. With the middle east a smoking ruin, the oil supplies will dry up. The rest doesn't bear thinking about. It's time for the world to act, and soon.
64. Iran's Nuclear Capability Can And Must Be Destroyed.
Chaim   (09.19.06)
Taking on Iran won't be a picnik. However, it would be infinitely more dangerous once Iran has nuclear weapons. Let's not exaggerate Iran's power. Remember, the vaunted Iranian army managed no more than a draw against Iraq, which proved a lame duck in confronting the U.S. military. We must act immediately to stop Iran before it acquires nuclear weapons.
65. The professor has a point.
Persian CAT   (09.19.06)
"Bombing" Iran's nuclear R&D facilicities and/or power generation plants will gurantee what the Zionists are afraid of. There is no evidence that Iran is making a nuclear bomb, yes they sure are learning how to make one and there are no laws agianst that. Bot the myth that Iran drop a nuclear bomb on Israel and other "Western capital" is nothing more than a lie that the terrorist state of Israel is advocating in order to provoke the US into starting another war. Israel intends to fight Iran and all Muslims to the last American soldier. The problem is the American people have awaken and are not buying the Zionists' bullshit any longer.
66. Hey Persian CAT
Tim ,   UK   (09.19.06)
Open up your nuclear facilities to international inspectors, and commit to peaceful use only. You Iranians are creating the conflict, not Israel. It's Iranian bullshit that's threatening the world.
67. May be not so good, but its the only choice.
mohammad reza ,   Iran / Tehran   (09.19.06)
terrorism is born out of desperation, lack of education and culture, of humiliation and despair. It is not the product of an ideology. one of the key issues is the imbalance of power. why is it that israel has and continues to build atomic weapons and iran is refused the right to develop for peaceful mean? (whether its intent is different is a different matter) why is the zionist’s government sanity not questioned when it comes to the abuse of this power? i believe Prof. Yona has the right approach. You may stop or delay iran from having nuclear energy for the time being, but is the world really able to stop all non-aligned nations to gain this technology, forever? after all, iran doenst have to nuke israel to cause devastation. It only needs to detonate a nuclear bomb or two by the persian gulf in its own soil and that will cause enough disaster for the globe for at least a few generations. dialogue is the only and final solution. Other approaches are short term. /m
68. 67-ISRAEL NEVER THREATENED ANYONE W/ NUKES
(09.20.06)
IRAN THREATENS ISRAEL AND US DAILY WITH NUKES - AND THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE THEM!
69. Fadi There won't be any Lebanese left alive
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (09.20.06)
to go to Haifa. That big Mushroom cloud will cleanse the Middle East of all your terrorist friends. In the end Fadi---the Generals and President make a decision on how many troops they are willing to lose. The Japanese would of lost 6 million troops had we invaded in WW2. The USA would of lost 1 million soldiers. They dropped the bomb and killed 200,000 Japanese. You could say they saved 5,800,000 Japanese lives and 1 million American lives. If the numbers start to add up wrong Fadi---the President will most certainly drop a nuke. In Israel's case---none of your Arab buddies may miss the fireworks. Keep pushing the doomsday clock Fadi. One day someone will give you your wish!
70. Do Not Attack Iran!
Garnett ,   Broken Arrow, OK USA   (09.20.06)
"If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail..." We need to stop all this bellicose bluster about attacking Iran, and be willing to open talks. So what if they get a nuclear bomb, or a thousand bombs. India and Pakistan, both bitter enemies, and both alledgedly have the bomb, but have not used it, because they realize the consequences. The US is not going to be able to dictate forever, who can have a bomb, and who cannot. The consequences of attacking Iran are so incalcuable, and will so damage our credibility and committment to peace, we will lose the moral high ground for the forseeable future.
