1. Syria is all talk, but with enough allies...
Bechor   (09.17.06)
Syria is all talk. Their army is an absolute joke. But if they get help from Iran and the other Arabs... Israel needs to be prepared for the worst, and that means preparing to arm the nuclear bombs.
2. Syria in big trouble
Itzik ,   Haifa   (09.17.06)
Whan they speak like this it means they are not ready for war. The want and need more disengagement before they will start the War. Any time somebody speaks about force he is not ready yet. Clearly another disengagement will bring immedeate attack from Syria.
3. wowww r we scared
haim ,   MTL CANADA   (09.17.06)
i hope they will try very hard to get it back lets see who the looser will be but they got no balls without iranass
4. Go ahead Syria - DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT :-)
Scott   (09.17.06)
So much talk. No action. WEAK.
5. What a waste of money!
enzo ,   london, uk   (09.17.06)
In the past 24 hours, the civilised world has been receiving threats from Iran, Syria, Pakistan, Morocco, Egypt, Somalia, Indonesia, Turkey and other muslim countries. Is there any way to silence these dictatorial regimes and their daily menacing messages once and for all? We are sick and tired to wake up in the morning and find ourselves at the receiving end of death threats.
6. If Syria wants Golan Heights they can invade to retrieve it
(09.17.06)
7. Let the world know
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (09.17.06)
I believe we have to stand up, very and very strongly let the world know, in no uncertain terms, that the Golan is part of Israel - annexed by our government and under our laws. It will remain so unless we, as a nation, have a really, really good reason to change that. Syria's footsteps have predictably always fallen wherever they percieve is safe - either war, silence, demands or diplomacy. It seems they see us, right now, as weak before the world - able to be bended and plyed. The sooner the world knows that we are not bending over on this, and understands that we are not weak, the sooner Syria will back down and go back to playing regional idiot.
8. don't be fooled: he also wants the Galil
robert ,   potomac md   (09.17.06)
Syriua--ash-Shams--has always considered Lebanon, Northern Israel and parts of Jordan to be rightful parts of Greater Syria--If your Isralei leaership (his royal Mediocritude Mr. Olmert or anyone else) even considers even discussing giving Syria the Golan back--then you have suicidal idiots running your country--
9. Enough. Give the Golan back to Syria.
Bradley Ross ,   Montreal   (09.17.06)
As a dual Canadian/Israeli citizen, I see no point in pushing the Syrians any further. Give them back the Golan and make peace with them. The Moslems truly want peace and their religion is peaceful. Israel must stop its foot-dragging and stop provoking the Moslems and Syria.
10. This reminds me with a line from the carton “Fifal”
Joshua ,   USA   (09.17.06)
"Release the secret weapon, release the secret weapon"
11. COOL - TAKE MORE LAND THEN !!!
ANDREW ,   MIAMI,FL   (09.17.06)
12. The Golan is ours foreever!
Judah ,   Kiryat Shmona,Israel   (09.17.06)
Last Thursday I went to El Rom in the Golan Heights. First I picked 2 litres of tasty blueberries and then I watched a movie in their theater about the 1973 tank battle between Israel and Syria. Israel won the battle and not only retained the Golan but also captured 30 km. into Syria which was later given away. "To the victors goes the spoils".
13. They may be a bunch of spinless wimps...
safed, Israel   (09.17.06)
But if we can't put our army and government back into shape we need to worry about this other Northern threat. I mean open your eyes to all the "fashlot" that happened in lebanon
14. laugh of the day - "Syria chose peace as a strategic option"
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.17.06)
syria talks about 'peace' in one sentence, and threatens war in the next. based on syria's laughable history and terror-supporting actions we can be confident that this is just a load of whatever baby assad is full of.
15. #9 You are retarded right sorry for your loss...

Phony Finder   (09.17.06)
You have nothing to say, hiding like you are in Canada. Is that the measure of Israeli patriotism? Sure it is, and why am I not surprised?
18. To Bradley Ross
Alex   (09.17.06)
I can't decide if you are the funniest person or the dummest. Either way you gave me a good laugh. As you said, stop dragging your feet and give back your Israeli passport and pick up a more ppropriate "peaceful" citezenship. You have many to chose from.
19. There is NO reason - Good or Bad to Give away ANY Land!!
ilana   (09.17.06)
20. #9 - Did you sleep through history or school?
Kate ,   Jerusalem   (09.17.06)
The Golan Heights is not "part of Syria". It was under French Mandate from 1923 and handed over to the newly formed "Syria" in 1947. From 1949 to 1967 Syria transformed the area to an extended military base for attacks on civillian areas in Israel. They turned it into one of the heaviest mined areas in the entire world (kind of mine that goes "BOOM"). In 1967 - Syria lost control of the Golan and never regained it. It was officially annexed to Israel in 1981. 20 years control of an area, at some past period in history, does not an owner make. Being an Israel-Canadian citizen does not make up for your utter ignorance of the history of this area. Or of the reality that we, in Israel, will indeed offer it up IF a real, lasting and honest peace were offered in exchange. The kind of peace that last through the next dictatorship in Syria.
21. #9: :-) excess of hallucinogene drugs :-)
Nowhere Man ,   Metropolis, Zion   (09.17.06)
I'm not a classical right wing type of guy, but what you wrote just sounds fantastic...
22. Israel attack first?
gnubi ,   CA, USA   (09.17.06)
Bilal talks of "madness and stupidity", "values" and "dignity". He's right to bring these up but he attributes each to the wrong source. If Syria tries to take Golan by force, Israel will probably end up occupying Damascus. Which would mean that the Syrian people would win.
23. 20# Kate, Excellent history lesson!
Judah ,   Kiryat Shmona,Israel   (09.17.06)
Two more important points. 1) Jews lived in the Golan since Talmudic times in ancient Kastrin and other areas. 2) The Jewish people were originally promised the Golan(as part of Palestine) before it was given away in1923.
24. SYRIA BETTER MOVE QUICK BEFORE WE GET A REAL PM
Azmi Bishara ,   Damascus, Syria   (09.17.06)
25. #9...Bradley
Craig Payne ,   USA   (09.17.06)
You sir are a fool. What do you mean - "I see no point in pushing the Syrians any further"? You have got to be a leftist...on the same level as those who elected the appeasing leftist Olmert in the first place. You have to be one of those "give peace a chance".."teach love not war"..types. Only a liar or an utter ass believes the "Moslems truly want peace and their religion is peaceful". Learn some history you dope. Islam has been a religion of violent intimidation and murder from the very beginning. The Land belongs to Israel.
26. Uh Oh ..The chinless optometrist is mad
malcolm   (09.17.06)
They bought all those Golan land contracts last month and they expected to close by ramadan. Now baby bashir is sweating bullets.
27. The Golan must remain Isreali. Forever.

Phil ,   Mtl, Canada   (09.18.06)
don't try to get the golan by force, if you don't want Syria to become the biggest parking lot , you should know better by now.
