To say that violence is the preserve of a "few extremists" is a myth. Brutal executions take place daily in the name if Islam, in many countries. N.B. The first stage in trying to solve a problem is to acknowledge it. But world leaders and most of the media don't. Nope. Each individual Moslem can exercise his own free choice as to how, or if, he wants to spread the belief of Islam to non believers. In any case the Koran is only speaking about non believers, which means people who don't believe in the one universal, invisible God but in idols. This means that practically all religious beliefs in the world today aren't religions of unbelievers. The problem really isn't one of Islam but of some Moslem leaders who choose violence and exploit the sincere, deep religious feelings of their Moslems subjects to incite violence and enforce tyrannical rule, like Saddam Husein, Ahmadinajad and dictators of other Moslem countries. As we see from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan it's no easy matter to extract mentally enslaved people from the clutches of tyrants like these.

Dear David Verveer , If you a going to be a journalist, you need to get your facts straight. The Catholic Church does not consider the pope to be infallible. That was a change in the church doctrine prior to 1970.
