1. oslo and jews: never been a winning combination
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.26.06)
the oslo accords were anti-israel and anti-jew. this perfectly reflects the oslo tradition. when will we ever learn?
2. hutzpah
Moshe ,   Beit Shemesh   (09.26.06)
these anti-semites critizie us 5 times a week, and we can't say anythnig. let them SHUT up about Israel and then we won't say anything about their anti-semitic Eur-Arabian country. Oh, and no Jews should EVERY buy Norwegian lox.
3. ISRAEL NEEDS NEW DIPLOMATS - PEOPLE OF GOOD CHEER
andrew ,   miami,fl   (09.26.06)
WHO WONT ALWAYS WHINE WHEN SOMETHING HAPPENS - AND WONT ALWAYS WHINE HARDER WHEN THE "SYMPATHY" ISNT ENOUGH ITS AN EMBARASSMENT TO THE ENTIRE STATE AND PEOPLE
4. islamic example
gil ,   ashkelon   (09.26.06)
Norway is adopting islamic behaviour:,denying the right to criticize for others, not for them. Beginning of islamisation of Europe.
5. Call the Norwegian Embassy
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (09.26.06)
03/744-1490 - I just called and told her that I support our Ambassador's words and I ALSO criticize the 'royal family!'
6. Norwegian Royal Family
NYC Girl   (09.26.06)
The fact that Norwegians feel the royal family should be immune from criticism is one of the reasons America fought the revolution. In a democratic country, no citizen should be considered sacrosanct ...and that includes royalty. Some of them behave as if they were anointed by God...assuming there is a God. And to Andrew in Miami, your description of the Ambassador's criticism as "whining" is insulting and also demeans the gravity of the incident that prompted her to respond the way she did.
7. #3...whining???
DR ,   Florida, USA   (09.26.06)
So you don't think that anything should be said about a shooting up of a synogogue? Seems to me that if a church got shot up here in the US, that someone would say something. Happened with the church fires last year. What makes this different?
8. Norwegian Jews - Dhimmis
Mike Jefferson ,   Washington, D.C.   (09.26.06)
The sheep-like behavior of the Norwegian Jews demonstrates their Dhimmi status. When they develop the courage to stand up for themselves, perhaps the widely pervasive anti-Semitic behaviors will change.
9. Norway
Jason ,   New York USA   (09.26.06)
So lets get this straight. Norway can condemn Israel, boycott its products and give aid and comfort to islamic fascists, but how dare an Israeli ambassador criticize their King. What hypocrisy.
10. There is nothing royal in Norway!!!
Mark ,   USA   (09.26.06)
Nothing is Nice in Norway
11. Norway's Jew's should immigrate to Israel now
True Democracy ,   USA   (09.26.06)
so they don't have to be afraid anymore of hypocrital gentiles like the Norwegian royal family. How can Norway call itself a democracy anyway if one can't criticize their figureheads with impunity? The Israeli ambassador is right to speak out against them and their complicity with Muslim terror through their silence on the matter. And to the Jewish community over there, I say: Do not stand by and be afraid but stand up for your rights and speak out!
12. Connect the brain before speaking, please
Bancor ,   Genoa, Italy   (09.26.06)
Hey, folks, didn't you notice that even Anne Sender, leader of the Community wich owns the synagogue, was bothered by your Ambassador's comments? Not only Norwegian royal family, but your Ambassador too shall be immune from criticism, being appointed by God? Mrs. Sender is anti-semite she herself? Is she on the way of islamisating herself and your synagogue? Oh, now I read the talkback posted by Mike Jefferson, and I learn that she's a Dhimmi: what a pity! Poor Norwegian folks! Stay sure and protected in your Washington, D.C., my dear friend, sleep quiet and sweet dreams of war!
13. Norway and the Cluster Bombs
Michael ,   Haifa   (09.26.06)
Two articles one after the other in today's YNET. The first claims that we have apparently left many many unexploded cluster bombs all over Lebanon and the second states that the Israeli ambassador in Oslo criticized the Norwegian Royal family for not making a declaration condemning a shooting at a synagogue in Norway. Our sense of proportionality is sometimes quite brilliant.
14. #4, you are right
Phil ,   US   (09.26.06)
Can you imagine the reaction of the Norwegian Islamists if a mosque had been shot at? There would have been widesperead rioting, Churches and Synagogues would have been torched and the Royals would have personally apologized and kissed the feet of the Muslims. Of course Norwegians know that Jews will not riot----for anything because they are so afraid of Norwegian anger at them. Actually, that is the issue. Norwegians are afraid to assert themselves against Muslim outrages so they pick a safe target. By the way, would it have been so horrible for the Royals to express outrage over the attack against the synagogue? Or, is the true Norway the country of Quisling who allied himself with Hitler?
15. democratic monarchy?
esther ,   raanana   (09.26.06)
Bancor, we meet again. Mrs. Sender is afraid, isn't she, of being targetted herself. In a democratic country one can criticise the royal family as well, after all the Israeli Ambassador did not call for abolishing the monarchy in Norway. The Norwegian Jews do not enjoy the protection of the royal house? In a country where the beheading of the Israeli envoy was planned? This is outrageous!!!
16. Ms. Shomrat is right. I am glad she is there.
Andy   (09.26.06)
17. If the masque was shoot at Royals would
Ron ,   LA   (09.26.06)
kiss muslim " you know what". Remember Danish cartoons? They know Jews only talk, but Islamo-fascists destroy! Those Royals...So old fashion. Thanks G-d we don't have this idiocy.
18. Norwegian Royals
George ,   Atlanta, GA   (09.26.06)
Can kiss my royal seat - together with Norwegian PM and all their dhimmies (volunteers are welcome to step forward). They should apologize to the Ambassador for allowing this cesspool of murderers to infest their "enlightened" (my royal seat) country with impunity.
19. Quisling
Isak ,   Norway   (09.26.06)
Every time there is someting about Norway, you talk about Quisling. But remember we shoot Quisling and his friend when the war ended. We dont like him more than you do.
20. don't think you understand
Intedi Nensak ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (09.26.06)
It's not illegal to criticize the royals in Norway. One is free to do so if they please, they wont go to jail. It might not be popular, but you wont go to jail for it. The royals in Norway do not interefere in politics, they've got nothing to do with this, and if you as a foreign diplomat criticize the national symbol of another country you can expect to be hated. Before you annoying fatass yanks whine at "Eurabia" you might want to look at yourself first. It's not even remotely better in the US. Has the synagogue massacre in Seattle already been forgotten?
21. Norway's royal family
Rustum ,   London, UK   (09.26.06)
Obviously Israel needs diplomats with greater diplomatic skill. The reticence to criticise the royal family is not because they are special people, but because the king is the head of state and as such above politics. The list of people here referring to Quislings, Eurabia, the Oslo Treaty - completely miss the point. The queen of England does not make political statements - not because she does not have opinions - but because convention in this country dictates that the royal family are above/beyond/outside politics. However, even if the royal family of Norway were to state that they liked eating apples, there would be the usual chorus of brain-dead fanatics calling them anti-Semitic. It's a no-win game. In fact, from reading the comments of various people, the only person in the world who is not an anti-semite is living in an apartment in Kiryat Arba and even he has been accused of anti-semitism by a group of maverick settlers on a hillside outside Nablus.
22. Dhimmies Are Stepping Forward
George ,   Atlanta, GA   (09.26.06)
Well, now that you're here, kiss it. First is Rustum with his "Anti-anti-Semitic watch" straw-man that never fails for both dhimmmies and Jew haters alike. Second, is a presumably skinny Swede, who failed to read a report about EU obesity rates as of late. Fatass yanks happen to be working out at gyms instead of downing beer and cheese for breakfast, takke very much.
23. Norwegian Jews Make Aliyah to Israel?
World Citizen ,   the world   (09.26.06)
Don't make me laugh. Norway has one of the highest standards of living in the Western world. Why would a jew living like a king want to go to a place of hatred, discrimination, self-induced wars, heat, dust, and little water? You Zionists have been out in the sun too long. You're not going to frighten every Jew back into Israel after a nothing incident.
24. Nearly speechless...
Saul ,   Barcelona   (09.26.06)
...but here goes: representing only myself, I feel that: 1. It would be befitting Danish Royal family, as any Royal family, to show compassion for the plight of its subjects, particularly members of a persecuted minority. No hate act on the part of Royals, but definitely a missed opportunity. 2. There is nothing inappropriate in Ambassador Shomrat's response. It is a stretch to even call it a criticism. On the contrary, it was the right thing to do as a human being, a Jew, and a representative of the Jewish State. 3. The shrill reaction from the Danish authorities has been appaling, especially in light of items 1. and 2. 4.It must really suck being a Jew in Denmark!
25. #3 Cheerful Israeli diplomats
Saul ,   Barcelona   (09.26.06)
Thank you, andrew from miami, for feeling our pain and embarassment. I, too, feel that we need more fun, cheerful diplomats, so the next time a bus or a discoteque gets blown up, they should at least be able to come up with a snappy one liner. Maybe even a comedy sketch? I mean, why burden the world with our problems AND expect sympathy, right?
26. Intedi #20 Please help me understand!
Saul ,   Barcelona   (09.26.06)
Is the Royal family kept under glass, away from any interaction with people? Do they not make public statements? Is it inappropriate to expect the Royal family to show signs of care and compassion for their subjects? Is it so inappropriate that one can expect to be hated for it, as you state? We are not all annoying fatass yanks, so that bit of your message was very thoughtless and offensive to some of the overweight North American readers. On the subject of the Seattle shooting, though, here is the difference: in its aftermath there was an outpouring of support and compassion from every level of the governemnt, as well as numerous religious and social organizations, including many Moslems. And no, it has not been forgotten. Now, let's see how long our Scandinavian friends will remeber the Oslo synagogue shooting.
27. # 13 michael
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (09.26.06)
Another jew self hater, never missing in our talkbacks Sweetheart grow a brain. Norway shull was attacked needesly. Cluster bombs may still remain in South Lebannon as a result of an unfinished war imposed on us. We haven't got our soldiers back, btw, but I guess you've forgotten the raison d'etre anyways. Israel did not implant cluster bombs for any reason other than self deffence Now will you call the attack on Norway's shull 'self defence' ? YOUR sense of proporcionality and self hate is sometimes quiet brilliant.
28. 21 Dear Rustum
Saul ,   Barcelona   (09.26.06)
You are absolutely right, Israel needs some very good diplomats these days. I am not in complete agreement with you on some of your other points. Granted, the Royal family is above the politics, but no one is talking about a political statement. What Ambassador Shomrat was referring to was a gesture of compassion and goodwill by the Danish Royals to their own subjects on Rosh Hashana. I believe the Danish Royal family issues Christmas greetings, do they not? Or is it that anything to do with Jews is now a priori political? I suggest you re-read the Ambassador's comments. They are very polite and hardly critical. And nowhere was there any mention of anti-Semitism. Reading your interpretation of events, it seems that you are so certain in your convictions that you hardly bother with facts. Respect
29. #23 It is NOT a Nothing incident
Mark ,   USA   (09.26.06)
I repeat. There is nothing nice in Norway. The 3 N'S. Nothing Nice Norway
30. 23-world citizen: what´s your name, chicken feed?
