2. it's easy......
kala bazu ,   haifa   (10.04.06)
it's easy to say now - isn't it!!!!!! where were you more than a year ago!!!!!!!!
3. Where was the Major-General a year ago?
Elaine Weissman ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.04.06)
Where was the Major-General last year when Jews were thrown out of their homes?
4. Let the officer speak his mind. We claim to be a democracy.
Bennie ,   Jerusalem   (10.04.06)
Maybe if more officers spoke up the Oslo Psychosis, Gaza Disengagement Disaster, and the Lebanon Fiasco could have been prevented. Hundreds of Israeli Jews would still be alive and Israel not be in such a precarious position.
5. Let's move forward
Concerned Israeli   (10.04.06)
When will we learn to play nicely together? Instead of pointing fingers at everyone but themselves, maybe we should start looking inwards, as a society, and find what each one of us can do to get our country moving in the right direction. Instead of everyone saying what is wrong with our leadership (and there's a lot), we need to be thinking about what we learned from these mistakes, fix them, and move on. If this means completely changing leadership, the time is now. Otherwise, we'll be caught off gaurd again and next time we can't afford that.
6. Officer's row ...
Oskar   (10.04.06)
Slowly but surely army personnel are coming out with the truth about the Lebanon war and the previous disengagement. I hope more officers will come out with the truth so that finally the inept High Command and the Political bosses will be removed without ceremony from their current lofty position. All they seem to be able to do is to remove Jews from their homes because Jews dont fight back and leave no casualties. This shows what cowards the High Command of the army is - they are only in it for the money and don't care a damn what happens to the country.
7. lack of vision
dov shurin ,   jerusalem   (10.04.06)
Now, as we bitterly recall, and beat our hearts, at the sins, and lack of vision of our leaders, and the insanity of the expulsion, I painfully recall the lack of vision and faith of the Gaza settlers that did NOT insist that their homes NOT be destroyed, for NOW they would be able to insist on going home, and with a change of government, very soon, thay would have had their dreams come true. Your 'Zionistic' spirits caused you to fall, in the process of Zionism's crime against the most holy Jews in the world!!!!!!
8. Weiss, Ron-Tal etc.
David ,   Israel   (10.04.06)
Why didn't high-ranking officers like Ron-Tal and outgoing IDF chief rabbi Weiss have the guts to say what they thought - or rather what they want us now to think they have always thought - when the disengagement was planned and implemented? Could it be - just a wild guess NOT! - that they adapt their positions to the ways the winds of popular opinion are blowing, or that they considered benefits ( that come with military ranks and with not ending your career by quiting over your conscience ) more important than principles? Interesting to notice that once, when the IDF was strong, highly respected, an undisputed part of the Israel consensus and not automatically involved in every political controversy/scandal/dilemma, very few retired officers who turned to politics chose a rightwing party, whereas today, with the army politicized as but also impotent like never before, the most prominent ex-officers who enter politics do so often as members of ( extremist ) rightwing parties?
9. Lets move Backwards
Marcel ,   Florida   (10.04.06)
Thosev who bring Israel to the abyss with their suicidal and failed plans hate to be held accountable by anyone .Not even their own are allowed to question their bogus peace plans which only reward terrorism at the request of Israel's slavemasters in Washington. It's refreshing to see a few brave souls of Judah speaking out against the lies and corruption of the top of leadership. How with the party of Israel's destruction,Kadim attempt silence them ?
10. Sharon Jr, Halutz, Olmert and other characters
Itzik ,   Haifa   (10.04.06)
He must speak. Otherwise we will see only Sharon Jr, Halutz, Olmert, Weisglass and other criminals making decisions.
11. To those who ask where was he before.....
Leon ,   Grand Rapids U S A   (10.04.06)
He was serving actively, and couldn't speak out. This is axiomatic. You. who belive a soldier on active duty can speak publiclicly are out of touch with reality. Now that he's retired, he is free to speak, and does so heroically.
