Peres never misses an opportunity to look for peace because he looks for it in all the wrong places. Have we forgotten that it was Peres who so foolishly ushered in Arafat at Oslo? That one mistake cost us over 1,300 innocent dead in terrorist attacks. If Olmert has to resign because of his mistakes, then Peres should have had the courage and honesty to have resigned when Arafat declared his terror war on us in 2000.

The whole concept of trading land for peace has proven to be a fantasy. Isreal needs legitimate partners to negoitate a peace, legitimate in terms of people negotiating in good faith to find common ground. There is no one to negotiate with, talks are just another tactic for eliminating Isreal. Peres represents a past that has failed and put Isreal into todays mess. Sharon had the courage to take the risk with the Palestinian's, it didn't work. It is time for real leadership in both security and economics. If the Isreali government takes the long view, the promience of capitalist enclaves like Dubai while Isreal operates like a demented France is the future battle. Netanyahu is Isreal's future, both next week and 20 years from now.
