31. Why isn't this publicized more?
Steve G ,   Kew Gardens, NYC   (10.10.06)
It is truly astounding that people in the U.S., Britain and the rest of the sane world aren't treated to summaries of speeches like this. One of the problems with garnering support for Israel is that people refuse to believe the insane ravings that pass for daily Arab discourse. They have to hear the seriously strange statements for themselves repeatedly.
32. Absolute Delusions
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (10.10.06)
The delusion never ends in the Arab world.
33. Nice bit of Revisionist history
Brenda ,   Indiana   (10.10.06)
Lebanon completely forgets that Hezbullah started the war with approval of Lebanese leaders. They bit off more then they thought they would and only because Israel practiced restraint is anything left standing in Lebanon. You people in Lebanon better wake up and get rid of Hezbullah. If you don't send them back to their masters in Iran and Syria then you will be in worse shape then you're in now. Hezballah and Lahoud don't care for the Lebanese people, their only LOVE IS FOR POWER and you're handing it to them for the $12,000 dollars the Hezballah handed out to you and empty promises. Wise up!!!
34. C'mon: the Lebanese know what Lahoud is.
sk ,   USA   (10.10.06)
Lahoud is a Syrian puppet, kept in place by the Syrians, and, of course, despised (as far as I can tell) by the overwhelming majority of Maronites, who want him gone. Or have we all forgotten the recent "Cedar Revolution" in Lebanon? Incidentally, it is preposterous to view Lebanon as Israel's "chief rival in the field of finance, culture, and tourism." Lebanon and Israel hardly compete for the same people in tourism; they draw completely different tourists. Indeed, someone who has visited Israel cannot even get into Lebanon (I have been told). And how could L. be a "cultural competitor"? As for finance, c'mon, does anyone believe that the sheikhs are deciding between Israel and Lebanon? Again, different pots of money. Of course, it's silly even to go into such detail. WARS ARE BAD FOR BUSINESS. That is one reason capitalist democracies tend not to launch wars, and why wars between two capitalist democracies are so rare.
35. #27 the stupid rant of a terrorist supporter. Please learn
Michael ,   USA   (10.10.06)
Lebanon will never be beautiful unless it rejects terror and lives in peace. Lebanon has no future if it accepts the terrorist organizations like Hezbollah. Lebanon will be taken back again and again into the stone age unless the Lebanese leadership disallows violence on its borders. Your excuses for the criminal serial Hezbollah murderers are only hurting Lebanon.
36. There is only one way to teach the Leb leaders a lesson
Johny ,   USA   (10.10.06)
Niether Israel not the USA can conduct a successful warfare when there is preoccupation and obsession about hurting the civilians while the Arabs do not give a damn if they kill anyone who is innocent. Perhaps we must learn to treat them the way they treat us.
37. United against invadors
Daniel ,   Lod, Israel   (10.10.06)
#1 George Hawi; why don't you do your home work properly? You are uniting terrorist group; which no one wants; US, Israel or any other country for that matter including Lebanon.
38. tourism and prosperity isnt what killed 7 IDF soldiers
mike ,   san diego   (10.10.06)
you have to be a complete and total idiot to swallow Lahoud's (the syrian puppet) assertion that it was Lebanons prosperity and not a defacto Islamic state of Hezbollah that it has down south. To all the Lebanese people who actually believe this cartoonish nonsense, your prosperity means nothing, when an Iranian agent group is controlling your foreign policy. Disarm Hezbollah and you wont see any IDF presence in your country. End of story.
39. live and let live
Lebanese Human ,   Beyrouth   (10.10.06)
As a Lebanese I dont support killing civilians, on both sides. Israel and Hizbulla should know that humanity is the main point. Media showed how inhuman this whole rubbish war was. If we dont know how to understand and make peace among our own selves, we will not live in peace at all... we are neighbours if you like it or if you dont, we should be more open and stop praying to the lord of war, god is the god of the whole human beings and universe. Thank you for reading this.
40. Lahoud has got it wrong
Dale ,   Spokane USA   (10.10.06)
What threatens Israel is their soldiers being attacked and kidnapped over the border. Not only that, the thousands of rockets coming from Lebanon. Right now Hezbollah is rearming and regrouping in southern Lebanon and you allow it. You can expect more destruction as long as you blame the wrong people.
41. NO -but Hez attacked&kidnapped just in time forTourist Seasn
Alan ,   SA   (10.10.06)
42. #6 (it's a pleasure for us)
lina ,   brasil   (10.10.06)
syria don't need to make us put el sayed hassan nassrallah in our houses. It's a pleasure for us; god bless u my sayed hassan and hezbollah's fighters.
43. #38 They want to keep Hezb armed as it is their pride
Mel ,   USA   (10.10.06)
The Leb pride that the terrorists could hold out for 33 days is truly sickening. What a great Lebanese achievement! The poor Lebanese leaders/dreamers have completely forgotten that had it not been for the Israeli concern regarding the Lebanese civilians Lebanon would have been turned into the Moon-like surface.
44. oh yeah we see who was crying in the war.
lina ,   brasil   (10.10.06)
we don't see sayed hassan nassrallah crying ;we see you soldiers crying coming back from lebanon; oh ;I'm sorry ranning back from lebanon like scary mice; even u israel beleive in sayed hassan nassrallah more then your lier president olmert; shame on u;u beleive a terrorist more than your chieves;(hehehehehe)] your newspaper sau that not me(about beleiving in nassrallah)
45. number 27
bernard ,   faransa   (10.10.06)
reprends ton souffle, essaye d'etre un tout petit peu plus clair and bear in mind that EIGHT israeli soldiers were killed within the border that day. chukran.
46. Forget Lebanon, it's Hezballastan!
Rehavam ,   Haifa   (10.10.06)
People! Don’t be blind. Lebanon is NO MORE. Lebanon is History. True ruler of Lebanon is Hezballa. Hezballa controlled 30% of Lebanon before war. Now it’s MUCH MORE. THERE IS NO HOPE for them. Slowly but surely they become little Iran, without oil. NOTHING can stop Hezballa from taking over! Peace with Lebanon is peace with Hezballa and Iran. It’s stupid dream. So all this talks with “lebanese”, “proud lebanwce”, "true lebanese" is bad waist of time. Let them enjoy their “victory”.
47. #27
mike ,   t.o.   (10.10.06)
Your whining may have sense in French or arabic, but in English you sound complete phyco. Do they have phsyciatrists in Lebanon?
48. #46 is correct. The Arab world is in disarray
Dotti ,   USA   (10.10.06)
The individual countries are becoming pro-terrorist entities like Hamastan, Hezbollastan, Somalia and the Arab dictatorships like Jordan or Saudi Arabia. Unfortunately, they want to share their misery with us. So, they blame the USA, Israel for creating their own problems and spread their misery all over the world.
49. Now THAT IS a good name for Lebanon -NASRALLASTAN
Alan ,   SA   (10.10.06)
50. #44 lina
Charles ,   Gray Summit, USA   (10.10.06)
Israeli soldiers were crying because they were told to stop killing the Hezbollah terrorists. Nasrallah was not crying because he doesn't care about anyone but himself. He is a murderer, who hides in a hole instead of leading his terrorist pigs into battle. Cowards all north of the border.
51. # 44 - Lina from "brazil"
CSS rules! ,   Israel   (10.10.06)
you sound like the devil ... mocking the suffering of others. you speak in terms of "respect" while we react to human gestures. shame on you ... besides ... what are you doing in brazzzil? maybe it was you who deserved her families to get murdered same as we did. fuck you ... tart! thank god i know most brazilians aren't as nasty as you (that is if you are indeed a brazilian .. which i doubt) cadela!
52. Smokin too much crack up there in Lebanon
Malcolm   (10.10.06)
53. THATS A NEW ONE, THANKS!
the rest of us ,   pennsylvania, usa   (10.10.06)
i havent heard that spin before. yeah, thats right, thats exactly right. israel was just baiting hezbollah dangling soldiers out there just begging to be kidnapped simply so that israel could then be justified to harm the tourist economy of lebanon. yeah, that EXACTLY RIGHT!
54. #51
lina ,   brasil   (10.10.06)
cadela e vc ;se eu nao estou em libano nao significa que eu nao gosto dele; e na guerra toda minha familia tava la seu idiota; and nassrallah yes he was leaderating hezbollah; but what did u want from him? to come to israel and say for her;(look at me I'm leaderating!!!! hehehe; and he is not a coward;the prove of that that he apear in berut ;and the plane of israel was over his head.
55. syrian puppet speaks once again
charles ,   achrafieh   (10.10.06)
please all of you know lahoud is a puppet from the ssyrian regime. we blame hezbollah who start adventures with israel who we know are brutal so why give them a reason to attack lebanon? if not for ha israel has nothing with lebanon.
56. lina ... lina ...
(10.10.06)
again .. you talk in terms of "respect" ... that's the difference between us. i don't care if we look "strong" or not ... i care if ppl. I care about die because of your gold digging fundamental terrorist leaders that think they're some kind of gangsta' rappers game ... and the game's on your expense. entendo-o são muçulmano? .... don't seat quietly while your government lie to you. people in Lebanon have power ... if only they want to. wtf is the thing about "tourism"?! and frankly i don't give a shit about weather Nasrallah's afraid or not ... i can't believe you side him. maybe he should come and live with me in bombed Sderot for a while ... and hopefully a rocket hit him and not one of my friends.
57. #1+2 you need to find an insane asylum

rachel ,   usa   (10.11.06)
about .
60. Lahoud is right , lebanon tourism was trageted
fatima ,   Oran Algeria   (10.11.06)
After 9/11 millions of middleastern men stopped going to the US (some because of visas ) and Britain and started flooding Lebanon , same with expats . foreigners in Saudi and Koweit knew they could be in Beirut in no time to enjoy beautiful weather and night life , and arab tourists could have everything found in the west , plus a bonus , food is hallah and they could speak the language so for the last 5 years lebanese tourims saw a huge boom and israel knew it . it had to destroy it . and the soldiers were captured in Aita shaab , lebanese soil > Full stop.
